Congrats on the new breeding setup guys! A few suggestions, if you haven't already done so: 1) Reduce the water level slightly, to around 1/3 - 1/2 of the tank height. It'll make it easier for the male to pick up the eggs and spit back any hatched fry that has left the bubblenest. The water level also needs to be lowered because once the fry hatch, they tend to sink. And they instinctively go to the surface to get their first breath of air and fill up their swim bladder. It the water level is too high, it may make it harder for them to take their first breath, and they may "drown". 2) Add an air pump with an air flow valve to reduce the bubble count to 1-3 bubbles/second (not so much that it would agitate the surface, thus breaking apart the bubblenest). It'll help aerate the water/add some flow to the water column and prevent stagnant water from rotting the eggs. I would also suggest adding a sponge filter with some biological conditioner, as you won't be doing any water changes during the first week, it'll prevent the ammonia/nitrites from skyrocketing. 3) Add an almond leaf for the male to build a bubblenest under. Not only will it provide a good surface for the bubblenest to adhere to, but it will also naturally reduce the pH to mimic natural conditions and release tannins that will prevent fungal/bacterial infections from occurring. 4) Although higher temperatures (79-81F) may make your eggs hatch more quickly, it'll also make them more prone to fungal infections. So I'd recommend keeping the water around 77-78F. If your first attempt goes smoothly, I'll post more tips in your next few videos. Good luck!
Blue Aquatics don’t put pump will stress the pair to mate. A small breeding tank will do and don’t give them hiding cave cause female will hide and male will have a hard time finding her and also cause them not to mate then they will start to fight. Just a Indian almond leave and a small plastic on top of the water surface. And female place in a jar in the breeding tank and if the male start to build bubble nest means they are ready to mate if not you need to change the pair or wait a few days. th-cam.com/video/8NGuO0_HMOc/w-d-xo.html This is how I learn from Thai breeder and my local breeders. This is the olden days Siamese/Thai breeders do for breeding.
Hi not a hate or anything but it would be nice to have sponge filter because babies are sensitive and so small and you can kill them while water doing water maintnance, water level is also too high for the male because he needs to pick up any eggs from the bottom that fall out of the nest, and also he doesnt have any floating leaves, or styro foam to build his bubble nest so he wont be able to suspend the eggs so they will drown. Therefore you should use extra aged water for breeding like... 4 to 6 months it would be the best... i also can advise to provide caves with multiple enterance and almond leaves or plants because bettas are agressive and that would give them security and hiding spots to rise their chances of not killing one another. Please consider these options because we really want to see the babies grow and survive, I do like what you guys fo but please watch some like Big City bettas or Creative pet keeping because they had great succes with breeding bettas and you can learn so much from them.
@@i_cant_jimout1207 thank u that's the plan I want to show people to prove a point violence and hate is not the answer it just makes it worse Thank u😊 I just found out it wasnt me because I wrote a similar thing aswell anyway I'm sure this is what she/he would say aswell
You should lower the water level a little bit so when he has to grab the eggs he doesn't have to go to far to get them once the female drops them and if they fall from the bubble nest
First of all the water is too high, second of all, she is not ready at all. She is not full of eggs and she’s going to have to stay in there for a solid 3-4 days before you release her. Her also have to watch her blushing, that’s when she’s ready. The vertical stripes down her body. Please read this comment and make sure you do the right thing. Plus I would give his something to build the best under, like bubble rap and a leaf. Do your research
I highly recommend you add almond leafs to your tank. It will give them some health. Note: The almond leafs will turn the water brown but dont worry its still clean.
Guys You don't have "cycled water" ... you cycle surface area. Also you van use a spongefilter in the spawntank, it's totally safe I always use sponge filtets in the spawntank and that wat you van actually cycle the tank. Pro tip: more plants ! They give hide ing spots for the female and will be great for the lil betta fry Greetz from holland
One thing to remember when you cycle a tank is that you don’t cycle the water but you cycle the media. Beneficial bacteria needs surface area so you are essential doing nothing by adding water from a cycled aquarium to cycle a new aquarium. Just a tip
You have to cover the top of the tank with plastic and also if you want to raise your Bettas correctly you need to hatch brine shrimp and feed the babies twice a day not just the vinager els you should also have more plants you also need the water way lower and you need to cover the tank
So exited for this ! just a little tip, you should lower the water level in the tank. It will help during the breeding process when Aries has to catch the eggs and it will make it easier for him 👍🏽 also try adding some Indian almond leaves those help too🤗 good luck guys
Dude you need to lower the water because when they get babies the male is gonna have a hard time catching the babies and carrying them back to the nest because of the too high water level but nice tank tho!

I would recommend almond leaves or drift wood to make the water homey and safe for the fish, it’ll encourage them to breed. They release tannins in the water which is good for fish.
I've always wanted to breed as a hobby! I don't know much right now, so I can't say it would be responsible for me to start now. But, I loved watching you try it out! Nobody can be 100% prepared for the first time you do something. Don't get too down on all the criticism in the comments. But also make sure to take heed of the things they suggest!
u need to put something flat that can float like a leaf or a small bubble wrap, so ares can make his bubble nest under the floating stuff. this will ensure that the bubble will not pop after ares put his babies inside the nest.
You only really want 3-4 inches of water, the deeper the water the harder it'll be for the male to tend to the eggs if they keep falling, it'll also be harder for the babies to swim back up to the top if they fall out of the nest before they're free swimming, not to mention you need humidity in the tank, so having lots of air inside the tank with a lid to seal in the heat helps promote spawning. also keep in mind bettas can drawn, if you have fry in too deep of water and they are unable to get to the surface you'll end up with dead fry. and a lot of the time if the water is too deep, the bettas wont spawn at all. its just a lot easier with less water. i would suggest lowering it to around the depth of having that jar in without the cup under it ( and still having the top of the jar poking out like it is with the cup ) :) you will also want a sponge filter with gang valve so you can control the bubble speed, add it to the side of the tank where he is not building his nest. babies are very prone to velvet, having no filtration is going to cause problems. trust me on this one. Adding an almond leaf will put tannins in the water and will help prevent illness. also If you are having problems getting him to build a nest, get some bubble wrap or Styrofoam, something that floats for him to build a nest under.
You guys have really great content and I wish you luck with breeding! One thing, though; you really shouldn't put more than enough water conditioner in. The package lists the right amount for the Prime to bind to all the harmful chlorine, chloramines, and heavy metals, and if you add more the extra will bind with oxygen. It's good that it's in a betta tank because of their labyrinth organs, but still, the more oxygen, the better. I'm excited for the updates! They're both beautiful!,
Please lower the water level for the male! He is going to get exhausted carrying the eggs from the bottom to the bubble nest. Also adding some bubble wrap to the tank with some indian almond leaves covering it should help him build his bubble nest. Please add a cycled sponge filter, more plants, and IAL so the female has more places to hide. As much as I enjoy watching you guys I feel like you're rushing into this one a little bit.
