I got all the endings including the "secret" one. This one is the one I chose to accept as the ending for me. It also made me cry really bad. Having finally made peace within himself, he was able to let go and rest peacefully.

@@NeverGimmo there's one that is replaced by a scene where he's on the bus and the song he chooses is replaced with static which people discovered was audio code for the computers featured in the movie. If I remember correctly, the static translates into a URL and it leads you to a fake website of the game developer in the movie. There, you can even download that game that the dude with glasses was working on and play it on an emulator of that PC they had in those times.

When I got this ending I felt satisfied. I still went for all the endings but this one was the only one where he ended up happy and not killing anyone.

This was the end for me today.Fourth time watching. I keep telling people this is on another level but they don't listen. The only way to make them watch is to watch it with them. Today was the best time though. Hadn't spoken to my sister much last year and this was some quality time. She really enjoyed it a lot

This is the only ending that actually feels like an ending, all Stefan wanted was to go back to that point in his life, to be with his mom again.
My theory is that he engaged with his inner child and believed that the only way of finding peace was by releasing himself of the pain regarding his mother's death. He achieves this by imagining going on the train with his mother to which in real time, causes him a brain hemorrhage.
The way i interpret it ,Collins was right, about that multiverse thing or something. MC actually went back in time, (specifically his mind or spirit) if he dies in that time he dies in real life. Like that asian mom multiverse movie. One mind, multiple you.

Basically, he's been suffering from PTSD ever since his dad took his toy away. PTSD leads to thoughts of death: killing others or oneself as a solution. All endings are him dying, his dad dying, or his passion game dying in the market.
God, I love this one ending.
As someone who lost my dad to a brain tumor when I was 9, this is my favorite ending.
though this is the best ending for stefan i feel really bad for the dad. he lost his wife and his son and all he was trying to do was help stefan.

Oddly enough, all the endings where that weird man leaves bad reviews for the game are better outcomes. Even if they are frustrating for viewers.
@N P I agree. So what if Bandersnatch turns out to be mediocre? At least Stefan’s alive, and mentally stable (assuming that he takes his medication). Producing one mediocre game at 19 when he’s fresh out of school won’t doom his entire career

@@Kaisona2017 There is no ending, they all happened in separate timelines (he is just able to transfer some information over to himself in different timelines) and if you got the secret ending it shows that even after he died on that train with his mom, in that timeline, he still lives on in the next timeline.

Lol dont know if you still didn't get it or not but when you get a choice to pick up the family photo pick it and then continue till you get whatever ending you get then when it takes you to 2 tvs pick the one that says get toy from dad and just go from there

This is my favourite Bandersnatch ending as well! The father breaking down in tears made me cry. And this ending introduced me to Laurie Anderson's O Superman which I now love.

I hate my life now and this just made me cry so much... This is my favorite movie of all time and i somehow forgot this ending until right now....

i like to pretend that they didn't die at the end, and just that the current older stefan died because he would've grown up differently with both parents and so he couldn't exist in two places at once by fixing everything
It’s possible, the “future now”hadn’t played out yet and tiny things, the exact time they entered the train, a toy rabbit being on the train with them, a butterfly flapping its wings (the traditional thought experiment) could cause a different outcome via almost infinite, cumulative quantum steps.

His dad saying "I'm sorry" makes me belive the dad being the mastermind behind everything could be true, he could have done all of those things to him for real, another clue is that the telephone number you get FROM DIFFERENT REALITIES actually worked in that timeline. I like to accept this as the defenitive ending, after all you've done, you menage to achive a timeline where he at least is put at peace

He altered the timeline, where im guessing the train still goes of the rails and kills the mom and his younger self, which would kill his present self

This was the best and truly complete ending. It would of been cool if all other endings would of sent you back to a split screen or other choice and this was the only ending it didn’t, and just rolled credits after showing him dead as an adult in all the different realities. He went back and died with his mother willfully knowing the outcome.
I watched it again w my boyfriend last Tuesday and his paths led him exactly to what you said. Maybe it was the last ending possible according to his previous choices. What an experience!!!

I like to think Stefan didn't die in the train with his mom. Both of them survived because Stefan stepped into an alternate universe where he was able to save her. Notice how she says they're going to take the next train?

@Hamburger Helper hmm. I don't remember if the mom originally says she was going to take the 8:45 as well. But it doesn't say whether they died or not in this ending. My theory was based on a VERY similar ending in one of my favourite visual novels; which had me thinking if this ending was inspired by it.
Huge spoiler for that VN, but in that series, originally, the archvillain's parents die in a train accident and she laments how she didn't die with them after she is sent to a hellish orphanage. But in the epilogue, after the MC defeats her, she travels to a parallel universe on a whim and convinces the villain to go with her parents. This in turn results in all of them surviving and in that universe, she never becomes the bad guy and the entire plot changes. It's basically the butterfly effect; one small happenstance can trigger a huge cosmic change.

@@meeramalhotra33 well as i recall, in one ending the news said that there was a tragic accident with the train leaving 8:45. So im definitely sure that they died. I also think that if hed wanted to save his mother he wouldnt have searched for the toy in the first place after coming back. But i think that if he wanted to save her and live a life with her hed done that.
Concluding that he didnt intend to save her, but to go with her, to finally have peace.
@@arjunswarup2486 I don't know which train was the one involved in the accident, but it's clear they take a different train this time. And making the fuss over the toy is what made his mother leave him home in the first place, so that wouldn't have helped at all.
The only way for him to have joined her was to find the toy. That stalls his mother just a little bit and he goes with her, hoping things will turn out differently. That was what I got.
In my opinion, I feel like the adult Stephan in the original world "dies" because this "if" world in which he finds the toy has become his reality now.
When I got this ending I was really hoping that the train wouldn’t crash because I had changed the events and maybe the outcome (because of the stuff Colin said)
For me, the meaning of this scene should have been that Stephan realizes that the path was already written, and he couldn't blame himself for what happened since he didn't have any control over the outcome. Saying 'No' to mom and accepting her inevitable death should have brought him closure.

MY EXACT SAME THOUGHT! How? How does he die in the past and still is present in the future despite dying there? Actually, how does he get to be in the past if he is there in the present? How was he able to be with his psychiatrist yet was able to open the safe and get the toy and die with his mother? I need an answer!

I don't think there's a good explanation at all. He broke the timeline. There were multiple realities and he broke that one.

Wow i played this with my brother in 2018 then we got tired cuz our head hurt because we kept losing then right now 2021 I picked yes and I was oh no I should of not picked yes he is going to die the when it showed he was dead I was sooo confused and I was in shock can someone explain me why and what happened why did he close his eyes I need someone to explain me

I'm missing something. In the first timeline, where Stefan doesn't get the bunny, his mother says they need to get the 8:45 train (the one they were supposed to make?). When he get s bunny, his mother says they were supposed to be getting the 8:30 train, but would instead (even thought he didn't hold them up or say he wasn't going), they sill got the 8:45 train. So the bunny did nothing? It wasn't his fault (or his father's) that he spent time looking for the bunny and said "no" to coming? Or was the time already taken up to miss the 8:30 from the previous searching for the bunny?
So then my question related to this commentary is, it's not true to say they caught the 8:30 train and it still derailed.
hey I know this was 4 months ago but here's a little breakdown:
originally, the mom was supposed to take the 8:30 train with Stefan but he was too busy looking for rabbit, leading her to be late and take the 8:45 instead.
on the flashback where we change the timeline, Stefan still holds them up just long enough to be late while still finding the rabbit.
the Mom even mentions "well we won't make the 8:30 now but we can take the 8:45" (paraphrasing but close enough)
this made me SOB

these last months i've been seeing "signs" i'm not a religious just to be clear that the only truth is dying like it's fatality the only logical option is suicide i'm almost 23 and lost my mother from a medical/chirurgical mistakes ten years a go the 24th march of this year lived pretty traumatic events like rape and violance in my eary childhood seeing my mother ones a week in multiple hopitals and living with my grandma for a while and with my dad evensince the only thing that made my mom happy was my school marks so always made sure that i was the best my last words to her when i was 13 where you can close your eyes her's were inaudible from weekness so yeah spent rough time developped mdd treated with medication from the age of 16 to nowadays i've always wanted to be a doctor and when my mom died it was so hurting that i promessed my self to become a great surgeon to save the mom of a child cuz i wish that feeling to nobody i'm currently in my 4th year of med school diagnosed with bpd since 3 mounth after my 5th suicide attempt don't know how i'm still alive nevermind this ending of bandersnatch is one of several signs like words or actions or even people or a look i don"t know everything juste make sense now i wanted to die with my mom and the only way to find peace is being with her
in this scene you need to finish all endings which is quite challenging but the super SUPER ending is that stefan plays a game of colins games

Because we (the viewers) no longer have contol over his choices so he went with his mother.
Remember how he went to have the memory of his mother and "that day"? Well if this is the way that memory went, then he has to be dead of course.
