I know this episode is about mushroom umami, but too many people give MSG a bad name. If you research, you'll see that MSG was wrongfully accused of being dangerous due to a doctor lying to be famous. MSG is delicious and a great salt alternative.
That Trader Joes seasoning is the truth. Try it on your smashburgers. Out of this world. I also use it to kick up my chicken marsala just a little bit.
I usually go for a 10 minute rest. If you measure the internal temp of a steak while it’s resting, it actually doesn’t drop as much as you might think.
I’ve done this and it tastes the same the flavor is too mellow and it burns away under the fire to notice it… try it with the takii umami powder, it’s much more flavorful. And add msg
Yeah i can attest to the takii one, I added it to a wagyu tomahawk and my friends actually said its almost too flavorful, but still extremely enjoyable. You dont need more msg imo, the takii by itself is super concentrated flavor. I usually use it for my eggs in the morning, and maybe pasta dishes like mac and cheese, but its killer on cheaper cuts of steak and stews/soup type dishes.
Also get the 4.4 lb bag, its expensive but trust me, it will replace most of your seasoning cabinet once you get into it. I use an empty McCormick seasoning bottle and pour it in there for easy access.
I love meat cooking videos but he makes it too complicated, he seemed to take alot of effort to cook 2 steaks, indirect heat then rearranging the grill setup while monitoring the temperature the entire time. Just feels like overkill but I'm sure the effort comes through in the taste because of it. It just doesn't seen practical to me

This videos are amazing quality
Gonna try this next time. 9 out of 10 times, I just use Accent, garlic salt, onion powder, & a little pepper.
This is the way
thanks! how long do you let your steaks rest? I prefer warm/hot steak and mine is always cold after a 15 min rest

@@BBQandBottles I love your temp probes but $350 right now! Def. a holiday/birthday gift one day...
Agreed they’re pricy. They also have a single probe version that’s closer to $100, but still expensive.
i love your videos!
