My Dad rode one while on a temporary assignment as a courier in WW2 for a few months. Otherwise, he was in the 459th Ordinance Disposal Unit. Seeing this let’s me imagine what he had to do to start the WLA. Good stuff!

These things are much more common in eastern Europe than they are here in the US. From what I read over 30,000 were shipped to the USSR through the Lend-Lease program.

I used to go to the old Indian Moto-cycle plant. There was only half of it left. (it’s apartments now) In the old engineering building there was a museum. It was the Esta Manthos Indian Motocycle collection. They had a NOS motor with tags on it sitting on the floor. It had a tag that said there were 1000 of these motors made in WWII (I forget the year it said. Maybe 1943?) 999 of them were shipped to Russia during the lend lease program this is the last one left. The collection is still in Springfield but it’s in another building now)

Nice bike.i notice no oil on the floor how did you manage that.my bike leaks oil bad if i let it sit too long.how do i correct this?.
