Teemu was playing the solo at the same level as the other two after a few weeks of being in the band. He's by far the most technically talented of the three. Check out his main group Wintersun. Super well written and produced melodic metal.
The thing to remember is that Marty wrote the solo so of course he is going to be the master. Kiko was phenomenal but Teemu has barely been with the band for a few weeks at the time of this video and he's ALREADY at that level. So talented
Tornado of souls live 1992 in London (hammersmith, apollo) was Marty’s best performance! It blows them out of the water.. not everyone can grasp the magnitude of that performance, the tone, attack, feel etc. etc. I highly recommend re-watching it!

Teemu is a really big fan of Megadeth since a teenager bro. He definitely knew how to play those songs before joining. Even older songs which is now on Megadeth's playlist on stage
Even Kiko didn't have time when he was called for auditioning by Dave and only learnt the solo of Holy war from his hotel room and only recorded just before the day of audition...
I don't know how many times Teemu played that, but I'm sure Marty and Kiko played it way more. It would be fair to compare Teemu after few years because like a good wine, solos evolve after time

I think Kiko did it better than Teemu. Kiko has that signature feel to it regarding to those "changes" in the solo. Teemu was also great but he gives me Chris Broderick vibes for some reason. He's good and it (the solo) is there, but it isn't FULLY there as if something is missing, if that makes sense.

Teemu for me,yes Marty wrote it but teemu has a little bit of that Marty style in his playing anyway. Teemu was playing it at kikos level after a few days and Kiko is an amazing player. Teemu is just another level. Theyve had plenty of highly technical players but teemu plays the solos either note for note or with almost the exact feel of the original. You have say Broderick who could probably player anything but he sounded like a computer. Teemu is the full package and it'll only get better with time
Sad but true, no one will ever play a song, especially a guitar solo better than the original composer/player no matter how the original composer/player choses to alter it in live performances. It's just his creation, he can play it however he feels, however he likes.
All do a great job. Though after watching this comparison, I’d have to say Teemu’s sounded more accurate than Kiko. And even Friedman’s more recent take on the solo is a little different from what he did in the heyday too. Still, Friedman still does it best imo but I think we also need to consider, it’ll probably be harder to play that solo in D standard with thicker string gauge than it was when they played in E standard back in the 90’s. So basically, all of them do great.
It's marty's solo, he wrote it. Nobody will ever play it as good or as passionate as he does. You're trying to compare a note for note when each of these players have their own expressions and their own way of playing that solo. Kiko is so clean & efficiet & has passion in his fingers. So far Teemu seems to be sterile and just trying not to F it up. Of course Marty is Marty what can be said about the guy who forced Dave to up his game and created the BEST metal album of all time.
Marty is above, for sure, and as it's his solo he feels free to make changes here and there. But there is no *wrong* note. The other too, on the contrary, make some, and Teemu is the worst (from that choice of performances, it might of course vary from one time to the other). He's also the one with the less feeling. I really like the sould Kiko puts in there, even if sometimes some notes are a bit off or a bend is held too long. But well, if we had any doubts, this puts them too rest: Marty is the once and future king!!

@@shotgunndunn yes, Kiko did change the weird lick after the ascending arpeggios, but personally it was for the better. Many guitarists try to replicate that lick but it's just too goddamn weird; even Marty has trouble with it. Kiko's version sounds awesome with that precise machine gun picking and chromatic run. It serves the same purpose and fits the role while maintaining good sonority and uniqueness
I don't care who has the best skills, Marty composed these solos and for me, creativity is all that counts, Marty has already been a legend for a long time, not the other 2...
Nerves get the better of anyone when you're playing for one of the biggest Metal bands for the first time. the only difference between these is that Mäntysaari hasn't learned the songs perhaps as long as the others. he just came to fill in when the real guitarist was gone. I think Mäntysaari should be evaluated from Megadeth's upcoming new songs or a little later from the concerts. although things are going well now, but Mäntysaari is the best guitarist among them.
This is a cool and very watchable series. I enjoy seeing other musicians take on iconic solos and it’s interesting to see if they stay true to it or give it their own taste.

Nobody can do it better than marty plus he wrote it
Al Petrili is the boss,he didn't show up here but badly want him to join megadeth, kick ass guitarist........I love kiko, teemu and marty but al Petrili just so good.....
I dig his take on it. His tone was stellar too!! Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!

Kiko all the way!!
I agree!! Thank you for your comment!!! Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
the only difference between these is that Mäntysaari hasn't learned the songs perhaps as long as the others. he just came to fill in when the real guitarist was gone. I think Mäntysaari should be evaluated from Megadeth's upcoming new songs or a little later from the concerts. although things are going well now, but Mäntysaari is the best guitarist among them.
I think that the biggest difference between then comes from the tone of their guitars.
This is a cool and very watchable series. I enjoy seeing other musicians take on iconic solos and it’s interesting to see if they stay true to it or give it their own taste.
Thanks man! I’ll be doing more videos like this. I’m preparing for Rock ‘n Roll Fantasy Camp now. November 9-12 in Hollywood!! I’m SO pumped!
Chris Broderick 🙌🏻

you are right on with KIKO'S ending part, he also messed up an arpeggio but I think Kiko is better than even Marty overall
Temu is the only one that's playing the album staff...

Impossible standards are hard to live up to.
Definitely not impossible. But surely as high as they come!! Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
Who played it Best?
---- David Escobar---- !!!!!!
Kiko seemed more comfortable and experienced than Teemu

Do you have anything on the band Death?
Teemu is ridiculous
He is!!! Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
I prefer Kiko's version over Teemu's.
Same. Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!
dentre os tres o kiko tocou melhor e ainda se divertindo, gostei da originalidade que ele deu para o final do solo
Marty, Teemu, Kiko

What does that question even mean? Who plays the best? Obviously that’s Marty the one who wrote it and set the standard for it.
Which of the other guys playing this solo is the best? Marty is there as a reference point. Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!
The only who played it perfectly in live shows.. Note for note with zero changes.. Was Chris Broderick
Why’d he leave?
Kiko the best

Definitely Marty ...

You left out Jordan Ziff
Kiko é o melhor
Teemu is by far the best pure shred guitarist but he doesn't have the best improv or songwriting which is why executes anything Jari Manepaa does perfectly but doesn't do anything beyond that , best guitarist from pure technical perspective imo. Marty is the bigger artist

Instead of economy it's more outside chopping. Style preference probably

Well Marty introduced and composed this solo, but I still think Teemu sounds great, but not in this version but I think Chris played it best when he was in the band
Yeah, as I was editing this video I liked Teemu’s more and more. Chris Broderick was a beast! Thank you for your comment! Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
Better than Kiko, just Marty
Put Marty aside. Both of them play really good cover. But Chris Broderick still the best

It's a silly question. Marty wrote the solo. It's impossible to play it "better" than he did.
Obviously Marty played it best. But which of the other guys does the better job? Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!
Ain't it funny how a solo from '89/'90 is still giving people a hard time?!? Ha! Keep MF out, he'll always play it best...now between Tee/Kik..Kiko, easy. That being said...give him sum more time for it to be a more fair comparison. I don't know him(Tee)...but really wasn't impressed, time will tell...👍

Kiko parece tocar com mais facilidade... nao sei...
Who ever plays it it's Marty's solo,he come up with it,and it sounds like Marty just not as good
I agree. But who of the other guys do you feel played it best? Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
Teemu who????

Megadeth is more than this solo
Absolutely. But it IS the undeniable highlight as far as solos go! Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
I think Marty plays it the best but my second favorite would be Chris Broderick.
Chris is an absolute BEAST! I should go back and review his take on this solo as well!! Thank you for your comment. Please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Notification’s Bell if you haven’t already!!!
Broderick, besides Friedman, Broderick's always been the best. :)
