This is an amazing song. It is my absolute favorite of all her songs. She is one of the true artists left these days that can truly touch one's spirit even through all of the pressures to conform and be a "popular" artist. She is my idol and that is it

Indeed you are correct. Loreena have said it herself, it's about the old celtic ways, now.. sadly.. nothing but a distant memory from a magical era.
I guess your're right with your assessment, if i close my eyes and listen to her voice and music, I can almost feel that something carries me away into another time, but its a good feeling nothing evil :)

@thunderwolfe Thank you for your nice comment. I had the same idea, but than I found out that " The Old Ways" is from the album "The Visit" and it was released in April 1992. Six years before the sad accident happend. But we don't know what she thinks, when she is singing this song today...

The Old Religion is not only much older than Christianity it is far older than Islam and is also older than Judaism and the Hebrew scriptures.
Just to give you an information: Drinking wine in church isn't wrong, to be honest with you - wine is the blood of Jesus in christianity. Christians drink wine in church during some ceremonies. :) I don't think that the person who created this video had insultings behind it, calm down. This song is peaceful and so the pictures and the creator of this video.
I feel like this song is about the old ways of Paganism before Christianity.

I did not do the picture by myself someone gave it to me, I did not recognize that the book in the background is the quran, I saw this beautiful woman and the man who obviosly loves her. Don't know much about the quran, but I respect other peoples opinion about their religion, fact is that most muslims love their wifes and families. Guess the person who created this picture used the book as a symbol. Love, Family and Believe. Nothing dirty ...
