Graham's at a clear disadvantage because he's gonna want to play the cool flavor things.
But he can also talk about each card so extensively that people forget what they were doing. Not unlike old whats-his-name.
Graham's confusion contrasts wonderfully with Kathleen's wicked delight as Ben explains that his main exposure to Who is via SuperWhoLock.
Somehow, Ben being a SuperWhoLock sorta person (and Kathleen being interested in learning more) was not surprising

Martha was a fantastic character absolutely ruined by the fact that she had all these brilliant character traits and then each plot point with her was "the doctor doesn't love me, I'm not rose". The writing did her so dirty. Oh yeah also absolutely adored this episode been really looking forward to it!
The best thing to happen to her in the show was the doctor leaving her alive in her own time zone.
Yeah, the writers used her as a punching bag to focus on Ten/Rose.
There is a huge plot point of her traveling the whole Earth to gather allies, managing to outmaneuver and deceive the Master and his spies, but it all happens off-screen because they have to focus on sad Ten in a cage.
And let's not get started on Human Nature.
My favorite is "Heaven Sent" with 12. Capaldi pretty much monologues for 40 minutes and it's utterly captivating.
Huge agree. One of my all time favorite episodes. Hits me every time.
Also, "The Shepherd's Boy" is maybe the best piece of music Murray Gold's ever written for the show. So good it kind of replaced Twelve's original leitmotif.

@42:00 It's actually for each exiled card, since each card is exiled one at a time. Gavin Verhey explicitly confirmed this on Shuffle Up and Play, and he designed the card.
As he proceeded to blast another member of the design team outside of space and time.
Wheeler brings this up at 46:00, it's just that his initial exile trigger at 42:00 immediately hit without having to drill.

Wheeler has become such an important part of LRR (for me). All of the energy he just brings to all of the LRR stuff is so amazing.

at time code 39:58 and yes there is a 'Fantastic Journey' episode titled 'Into the Dalek' in the Capaldi era. there's Dalek anti-bodies, a stomach juice scene and cool visauls as they enter through the eye stalk.
Also, Peter Capaldi says; "Don't be lasagna."
Miss Frizzle is also definitely a Time Lord. Probably one Romana looked down her nose at before she loosened up by travelling with the Doctor.
There's also sort of a Fantastic Journey in the classic era, in The Invisible Enemy the 4th Doctor and leela get infected by an alien parasite so they are cloned and the miniature clones are injected into the doctor in order to fight the parasite
My favorite episode of Doctor Who is 'The Mind Robber', an absolutely wild Second Doctor story that features a 'Land of Fiction', a filler episode mostly taking place in a white void, Rapunzel, a fake comic book hero named 'The Karkus', and an entire sequence rearranging Jamie's face so they could recast him for 2 episodes while the actor had the flu.
The second Doctor era is defiantly in contention for my favorite eras of the show - episodes like Mind Robber, The War Games and Enemy of the World are amazing. It's a shame that the 60s episodes have such a high barrier of entry (I don't mind the reconstructed and animated episodes but they're not for everyone)

1:10:57 [me, totally not waiting to see if the dairy’s restrictions would get remembered before it was relevant] My favorite episode is the one with Van Gogh because it’s 1 of 2 episodes that I remember my college roommate watched 12 years. The other one had cybermen, but the people inside were crying, so it makes me sad.
My compliments to whoever decided to play a vine boom sound whenever someone fumbled the planar die roll
Seeing Graham with a proper coiffed head of hair pleases me so, so much.
Graham resisting the urge to explain the Chameleon Arch was delightful.
I love how Ulmer and Graham had the same elation when Wheeler revealed the Adipose BUT FOR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REASONS.

This was so much fun! But also, these decks are now on the Wheel of Precons, and I really hope one of them gets hit there sometime! (Or maybe a Universes Beyond special episode with Doctor Who, Warhammer 40000, Lord of the Rings, and something else. That'd be silly fun!)

This decks are so fun! Seeing Wheeler come around on both DW and Universes Beyond in like a couple of months was something I didn't see coming but I'm always glad when people find something new to enjoy. That is probably the best outcome these products can have. Plus, they are designed with so much heart and attention to detail. I have never been more happy about some random land art where I can point and say: This is from Kinda and be ureasonably happy about it. My favorite episode is probably Heaven Sent from NuWho and from Classic Who its Curse of Fenric cause Seven is my Doctor :)
I love that the instant they reach the Crash of the Byzantium, River Song and Her Diary show up.
The only way you could make this better would be to have the Professor as a party member as he is also a major doctor who fan. This combo of people however shine like the surface of the planet Midnight
Fun game. But I have to agree with the final conclusion, these are complicated decks and I kinda worry about the Dr Who fan that this is their first exposure to playing MTG. I really like both Paradox Power and Timey-Wimey, but they are precons that make me work hard to pilot them.
Well, when you start messing with time and space things should get a bit complicated, so is lore friendly.
58:00 Ben, your decks are always great (and it's amazing that you share your gems with others for games), but it's your attitude toward playing this game that is the true treasure! That deck, or decks, with the kids' imagination would make for a great Christmas special.
Probably worth casting the X spells you hit with the diary just to get them out from under the diary so you don't hit them again.

Waited SO long to find out what 'Chinook is at 3' means, and it was absolutely worth it. Epic game, a joy to watch.

Did not expect a blists hill reference pure uncut grade a nostalgia , living in Shropshire I must’ve been like 5 times on school trips and whatnot. Of course my main memory is that they always had a shire horse hanging about when I visited, those horses are so large.
Favorite episode is definitely the two parter The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. "Everybody lives!" is such a hopeful, exuberant moment.
Clearly k-9 was a Tyrannosaurus/Rex.
Also, at about 1:30, my favourite classic story might be Remembrance of the daleks, new who Christmas invasion would be right up there.

As a Wisconsinite I appreciate the attention, but would like to point out that tator tot hot dish is more of a Minnesota thing. Pickles on grilled cheese does slap though.
This was just so much fun to watch. Not just the wonderful the cards and all the flavour text and art, but Graham and Wheeler's reactions as fans both long time and recent. This set was clearly made by folks with a deep love for Doctor Who.
21:54 That was a weird reference to suddenly hear! I am from Ironbridge originally (well, just up the gorge in Broseley but close enough). When Graham started talking about Blists Hill i thought "weird, there is somewhere in Canada with the same name and theme as the one near me!" The thought was then interrupted by "......in Ironbridge". What a small world!
I don't know the details (not sure whether they're public or not) but it's semi-established Graham lore that he spent some amount of his childhood in England (and Kathleen in New Zealand iirc).
I love this series, and the show itself is so good that I always forget how much of a BANGER the title music is!
It's a genre called Electroswing; I'd recommend virtually anything by Caravan Palace or Parov Stelar for similar tracks.

My favorite episode is The Zygon Inversion! It made Capaldi my favorite Doctor and that's why I root for whomever is playing Paradox Power in a 4 pre-con pod
Kathleen's history with Tom Baker falling into quarries sounds a lot like my sister's history with clowns on Sesame Street. My sister does still have coulrophobia.
And yeah, there are a _lot_ of moving parts in these decks...

Instead of any rules comments, my favorite Dr Who episode is Heaven Sent. It's one of the only Capaldi episodes I've seen but its just great and I love his speech at the end.

Wheeler got called a young Bernard Cribbins(Wilf). I see that as truly high praise, as Wilf and Bernard(RIP), we're amazing.
So I watched the Tolarian Community College WHO deck video and at 41:50 I think it would get a counter for *each* card exiled with Cascade? Not sure I may be misremembering, it's really confusing wording and effect.
It was Gavin who confirmed it would as each is it's own insistance as it checks each time
Yeah, "exile until x" means you exile one, check if X has been met, if not then repeat

It's not that complex, or weirdly worded. It says "one or more". Even if Cascade exiles a bunch of cards, that's still instance of "one or more" cards being exiled. Compare it to Enduring Scalelord and Bioessence Hydra and how they get counters, as the Hydra specifically says "that many counters" while the Scalelord only gets 1 counter even if you give another creature a bunch at once. The "one or more" wording also shows up for a lot of "when one or more creatures die" effects so that you only do something once even if a bunch of creatures die to a wipe.
For extra clarity, the Comprehensive Rules specifically state that effects that involve drawing multiple cards have the player do that many "individual card draws". It's a rule specific to drawing cards that people occasionally in error apply to other game actions.
Given it's Dr Who, should have named "Spells you've cast from anywhere other than your hand this turn" ONCOMING Storm

The war doctor actually does count every single card you exile for cascade, because the game will check each card you hit because you "exile until" so you flip them one at a time
Edit: i made this comment right after wheeler said that it wouldnt count multiple times to ben.

41:50 so I watched a game with the team who helped make these cards. And he said that it does trigger for every card exiled. It was from another cards effect and wasn't cascade. That may be why but how I took it is if a card says to exile until something then it counts for EACH card, vs if an effect is "exile the top X # of cards" it would trigger once.
He said as a play rule, because after each card your checking if it would resolve by if it's non land or not, then exiling the next card. Triggering it each time. And that's coming directly from the team that made it

In response to wheeler's question of my fav dr who episode, my family used to always watch dr who during christmas so i'll separate my answers in three. fav x-mas is the christmas carol, normal is heaven sent, anniversary is day of the doctor
My favorite single episode is probably Blink, but my favorite story is the 2-part Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead
