Thank you, our friend, for preparing this and sharing it. So heartfelt, and the music is perfect I am very saddened that we have lost so many of our “lights..”. In a sad childhood, they were like family to me.
Seeing Chris Bernau especially and Michael Zaslow brings back so many memories from my childhood. Makes me want to cry. They were both gone way too soon. Don't cause too much trouble up there Alan and Roger! LOL Guiding Light was nothing without them. Alan and Hope and Roger and Holly should have been long term couples to the very end.
Wonderful video, and it was so great to see these clips again. I was a huge fan of the show during the '70s and early '80s. Additionally, there were two other wonderful actors who weren't in your clip who are no longer with us, Stefan Schnabel, who played beloved Dr. Jackson from the mid-60s through the end of the decade, whose career goes back to the 30s, and who starred in over 60 films, and Kate Wilkinson who played Rita and Eve's mother Viola during much
wow - great job once again...That clip with Bert, Mike and Ed after her operation - i'm so thankful for you posting it...I hadn't seen that since it first aired back in 1984 (?) I believe...Its a clip that GL never rebroadcasts I assume because it is sad to see knowing that Charita (Bert) actually was ill and eventually died due to complications from diabetes.

of the '70s and into the early '80s. She was primarily a stage actress who appeared in numerous productions (including the original stage version of "Steel Magnolias" in the role Olympia Dukakis would later play in the film), and was also a familiar face on other P&G soaps like "Another World" (where she played Hudson family matriarch Clara), and "The Edge of Night".
I remember, she snuck into Sara's house and there was coffee in a stovetop percolator (this was, after all, 1974, before most people had Mr. Coffee), and she put some kind of poison in the pot, and then there was a blackboard in the kitchen that said "Home Sweet Home", and Kit took a piece of chalk and underlined 'Sweet", and began laughing. CRAZED PSYCHO!
Kit Vested was CRAZED! I vividly remember being a little kids and watching those scenes at my grandmother's house, where Kit poisoned Sara McEntire's coffee, and she actually seemed to take pleasure in doing so! Nancy Addison was great in that she played other characters on other shows who were nothing like Kit, and was equally convincing in each role.
wonderful video! in your video description you left out Ed Bryce, who passed away not too long ago. He's the actor playing Bill Bauer in the first scene with Charita...he played the character from 1959 through 1964 and again from 1965-1969. He returned in 1977 when Hillary was revealed to be his daughter and he left shortly afterward and then made a brief return for a final time in 1983, playing in a controversial, yet memorable, storyline involving Eli Sims. Those familiar know what happened.

He was gorgeous, rip Michael Zaslow. Loved his character, the villain, Roger Thorpe
Chris Bernau, the only Alan Spaulding, and Beverlee McKinsey, the only Alexandria.

Any clip with Charita Bauer (Bert) makes me well up in tears.
I'm glad Peter Simon stopped wearing that bad wig.
