Since you're new to NF here's a cliff notes of the references in this song..
    1.White character= Hope
    References to Hope:
LET ME GO (He asks God to introduce him to Hope)
THE SEARCH ("looking for the map to Hope")
PAID MY DUES (1st appearance of Hope)
DRIFTING (First time we hear from Hope-i think)
    2. Black character= Fear or Anger
    References to Fear and Anger:
    MANSION (introduction of characters)
REMEMBER THIS (references Anger and other emotions)
    INTRO 2 (digging Fears grave)
INTRO 3 (kills Fear- and burys outside his mind)
LEAVE ME ALONE (appearance of Fear)
    & WHY
PAID MY DUES (see both characters i think but mostly Anger)
    3.MANSION =his mind
    {song playing in distance after pushed}
    4. Cart: his cell/prison=pain
Shown in ~THE SEARCH & OUTCAST
HOW COULD YOU LEAVE US (tells us what it is)
LET ME GO (Talks to his emotions from inside his cell~ Know that also from CHANGE)
    5. Room with balloons/burdens=
    Reference to The Search album
~Also room of regrets in MANSION?
Balloons are also shown in: THE SEARCH, WHY, LEAVE ME ALONE, PAID MY DUES, LOST
    6. Room with cage & old man= Perception Album
    Old man= future self
    Referenced in LET YOU DOWN
(where future self talks to younger self- juxtaposition to current self talking to his younger self in NATE)
in that video it's all versions of him.. in TRAUMAS he is himself taking to younger and older self I believe
Holding keys from~ OUTRO & OUTCAST
    * Also throw back to WHY when he is asking "what's my definition of success" his answer was much different than before HOPE
    * I'm sure you've gathered by now but...
He talks to and about his emotions as if they are people, his emotions make many references/are referenced and appearances of them are mostly through him. Some songs you have to listen for if he says stuff like "im scared" (its fear) or speaks in angry tones or says so (its anger).
    Reference to feelings as characters:
"I fell in love with my Pain and I slept with my Regrets. Happiness saw it happen maybe thats why she up n left. Joy called me a cheater, said she's not coming back." REMEMBER THIS

      This will help.
He connects all six projects with hidden eggs. I know it is long but mainly song order
      2023 Updated NF Journey List
🎶 This is for anyone new who may want to take the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. All of his albums are like a connected series.
He also hides eggs in his videos which he co-directs and co-produces.
For example in his “When I Grow Up” song there were four hidden eggs in that song: 1. A black balloon by the trash cans (black balloon represents his burdens per search single) 2 In the burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. 3. He had outcast written on his name tag in the janitor scene which references his Outcast song. 4. He had his moments album CD in car scene
Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. Search single also connects to Hope. In Hope he has the “map to hope”.
The black smile you will see painted on his mouth is explained in his therapy session song.
      Here is the song order:

There's very few artists that can invoke the type of pain & emotion that he does with this song or how Em does in songs like Castle/Arose & Temporary. The fact that they're both from Mi, makes me a proud Michigander. I commented on the patreon so I'll keep this "short & sweet". You mentioned you read Em forgave his mom, if you haven't checked out "Headlights" i would recommend listening to it. One of my favorite songs. I don't want to give anything away but it's the opposite of cleaning out my closet. I had to Edit and tell you how proud of your friend i am. I know i don't know either of you, but i know what it's like being in addiction, & i also know the strength & perseverance it takes to not only get clean but to stay sober. It can definitely be overwhelming, so congratulations to your friend.

@@GoatWorthy_MMLP2 it's such a beautiful song. We have watched Eminems relationship with his mother (like we were there) have its ups and downs. But, on this song he is forgiving her and thanking her. It hit me right in the feels. incredible song. when he's gone, this will be up there with "My Name Is" "The Real Slim Shady" "Stan" "Without Me" "Beautiful" for the songs he's remembered for. This wasn't Slim, Eminem, B-Rabbit rapping, this was a song from a son to his mom. Don't think I've ever had a lump in my throat like this from an Em song before.
Yup, I was right. Bawling like a b!tch. This is such a profound & deep song that cuts right through your soul. He is extremely talented. I can't wait for you to get to Hope, too.
I'll be praying for your friend 🧡 She's a fighter & she wakes up & chooses sobriety each and every single day! That's a warrior in my eyes!

2:16 I resonate with this line so much. My parents used to be an alcoholics and I remember one time during badminton practice my friend at the time would ask “why don’t your parents pick you up?”. I had to make such an believable lie that my parents were busy with work and such, I remember feeling so ashamed and humiliated that I had to lie about my home situation. That’s when I fully realized how much of a deadbeat they were.

My Dad didn't die when I was a teenager, but he was living in his own world of alcohol addiction throughout most of it until it finally took him. The day our foster kids moved into our home was the day I found out the police found him dead next to an empty bottle of booze! The funeral was two days before Christmas... I am still dealing with my past trauma from how he treated me and my mom. Like peeling an onion... I have forgiven him, but I keep on having to turn it over to God as new memories pop up.😮💔🖤🤎❤️
The ИF Journey has been such a healing for me as I can relate to his pain and trauma‼️

He's still alive to this day and I'm lucky if he even calls me on my birthday or a holiday. He had more kids and he does so much for them but for some reason I'll never know, I'm just not included in that and now as an adult I've had reconcile that it will probably never happen.

I actually think it is a good thing that your friend didn’t react to this with you on camera. Too much for her in a video reaction.
I would encourage you to get together with your friend privately and watch the video with her. I think this song will be very healing and inspirational to her. I imagine that this song could be played periodically when she feels tempted and weak. A wake up call not to go back!
I saw one comment on a different reactor’s channel that was so powerful. She said her son played this song for her when she was struggling with addiction. It had such an impact that she has been clean ever since. She literally thanks NF for saving her life!!
    NF is changing lives!
BTW… You could go out of order in the NF journey just this one time!😂 React to his new song Mama from his Hope album that came out last year. It is a sequel to this song and shows his evolution as an artist and his evolution in his perspective towards his mom!
