Nice landscaping at Groote Wielenplas - but I hope they plan to plant a few more trees! Lovely ride through the outskirts of Den Bosch - its a very pleasant city and I always enjoy visiting. The infrastructure is always improving.
Just got the keys of my new apartment in de Groote wielen and see this video pop up in my feed, loved watching it and can't wait to see what this neighborhood will be like in a few years.
I would like to not only get displayed the name of the street, but also from time to time naming useful places while passing them. Like "housing area", "supermarket", "business district" "nature with hiking trails" ... That could bring out that even though it is a 30 minutes ride from point A to point B, bike infrastructure can also provide really fast access from and to useful destinations.
I love the "wiggles" and thanks for the explanation. It appears that I'm a bit Dutch because I like to know why things are done in a specific way. 😊 (If reading this confuses you and you want to know why I wrote this check the blog in the description 📦. Lots of interesting things in there)
Nice video. Very relaxing from a Dutch guy living abroad. Maybe an idea to shoot a video where you go in and out of the many, many narrow street in the Old inner city and explain where everything goes. Looking forward to that.
No. I did cycle straight-on in the first take, but that led me through a building site. Filmed the rest in a new version the following day. In the mean time the fence had been put back.
15:49 aka the normal cycpling path in Zeelandic Flanders (mostly), somehow. I mean, we are Netherlands as well. Do something about it already. It's like more than half of the region is "temporary two-way cycling". It feels like "permanently two-way cycling". With all the cargobikes nowadays it's hard to pass eachother sometimes.
Yes. Construction of the road I cross there is ongoing. I believe the lights will be removed soon. At first it would be a roundabout but that has been postponed.
My gopro8 can film in 4K but then the stabilisation is not as good as it is now. I choose stabile over sharp. Added bonus, people are not so easily recognisable.
"The new bridge for c&w was finished too soon" I suppose you don't have umarells in the Neatherlands. They are the pentioners who enjoy spending time looking at worksite workers and giving them advice. You find many of them in Italy 😅
They are allowed to drive there (it's actually the designated path for 'bromfietsen', see the sign at 6:22 ) but they (like all other road users) are not allowed to obstruct traffic.
@@paolagrando5079 I had to look this up and did not know this but this shared bromfietspad (used by regular bicycles & by mopeds (max. 45 km/u)) does have a speed limit for mopeds of 30 km/u inside city limits and 40 km/u outside city limits. This speed limit only applies to mopeds. On my road bike for example I can ride any speed (say 40 inside city limits) if I want and be not at fault (as long as it does not endanger other road users). The reason for this is that regular bicycles don't have speedometers I guess.
@@MrAronymous As most tourists are less likely to go to the suburbs of the city (or indeed any tourist-centric city) then it is, I think, a reasonable comment. We should remember that its not always a pleasant experience being a pedestrian in Amsterdam or Utrecht during the very busy hours or on weekends.
To give some context. The person he’s overtaking is riding towards the middle line and is nearing a bicycle ‘intersection’. I looks like he’s looking behind. When cyclists in the Netherlands do this, they usually want to turn left. Overtaking on the right is the appropriate thing to do if you don’t want to slow down 😊. I hope this helps you understand Dutch biking etiquettes a bit better. Let me know if you have any questions 😊

Very enjoyable as always. The fact that Dutch law allows ICE mopeds on bike ways and not electric scooters is mind blowing. Greetings from Italy

Guess those who live there know that. Maybe read the article?

Beautiful trip!
De hangplek van de lokale scootertokkies is blijkbaar daar midden op het fietspad? En dat Poolse busje maakt het ook erg bont op een fietsstraat.

THE NETHERLANDS --- A Paradise On Earth 🌎
Just another day in this country my friend..
Better than most places? Sure. A paradise? Depends on how closely you look. Terms and conditions may apply ;)
Hello! Regarding infrastructure for bikes yes! @@FrietjeOorlog

Weather-wise very wet this year!
Did you put that fence back correctly at 16:40 ? :D

It feels like "permanently two-way cycling".
With all the cargobikes nowadays it's hard to pass eachother sometimes.
What is the squiggle in the bike road at 2:40? Is it traffic calming for bicycles? Making the road longer for bicycle queues when cars pass?
Explained in the blog post. See link in the description box.
Intrigued by the solar PV installations on lamp posts along Hovepad. Can anyone please explain the operation of the system they're a part of, please?
Any plans to redesign the crossing at 22:50 ? Over a minute of waiting time...
Yes. Construction of the road I cross there is ongoing. I believe the lights will be removed soon. At first it would be a roundabout but that has been postponed.
Time to upgrade to a 4K camera? watching even the 14,400 resolution on other videos looks pretty good.

7:39 when did they make a Mad Max sequel in the Netherlands?

The driver made an honest mistake and had no other option than turning around. Most Polish people in the Netherlands are friendly, quiet and peaceful.

More sane than Amsterdam.
Amsterdam has these kinds of neighbourhoods as well. Don't blame your lack of knowledge on Amsterdam.

Don't really care for the motorcycles on the trai. is there a lot of battery-powered electric bikes there?
If you mean pedelec bicycles, yes many, if you means electric mopeds and motorcycles, around 100k.
