FAST autofocus face tracking. 5 audio recording modes. Records audio BEHIND the camera if you're behind the camera. 3 microphones track your face from left to right or all around the camera. Touch up images while still in the camera. Vlog-L for grading. 4K Photo mode. Focus stacking, focus bracketing. UHS ultra high speed card reading and writing. More megapixels than Sony A7Siii or GH5s! Amazing picture quality and skin tones. Super smart intelligent auto for doing all the thinking for you. And it comes with the most amazing sharp kit lens that's super tiny and lightweight but takes stunning pictures. See this video and be amazed at what Panasonic has crammed into this camera.

You are incorrect. 1. The sony zv1 has a back illuminated 1in sensor 20.1 mp sensor that outperforms the g100 mft sensor in low light. 2. 4k photo? They both have 20 megapixel sensors. So they both do 4k photo. Zv1 has a max photo resolution of 5472 x 3648 pixels. The Sony zv1 can shoot 24 frames per sec high burst photos.
You can get nice blurry background shots very easily with the zv1 and it's 1.8 aperture 3. Both the zv1 and the g100 both use Class 10 uhs1 U3 cards. So you saying the zv1 can't use ultra fast cards makes no sense. 4. The zv1 internal audio is better than the g100. 5. The video quality from the zv1 outperforms the g100. From the 4k to 1080p the zv1 has better image quality and less crop in 4k. The zv1 also has a built in nd filter. 6. The zv1 uses a superior phase detect auto focus system. No comparison. 7. The zv1 active stabilization is better than the g100. 8. Zv1 has no record limit and you can use as a webcam. So the Sony Zv1 is a much better video camera and usable photo when needed. The g100 is a good camera and has a few photo features that the zv1 doesn't. Many tests that have been done by other reviewers show that The zv1 outperforms the g100. The zv1 a is video first camera. The g100 has a better photo feature set.

I'm so happy that someone besides myself gave this gem of a camera a positive review. I got my hands on a G100 to test out about a month ago, and I just love it! So many are writing it off and criticizing the video focus, but like you, I didn't have any trouble with focus at all, even with a fast moving target. I'm not really a vlogger, but I do like a good small camera that I can take to the skatepark. I have a Lumix GM5 as well and this is a huge step up. Yay for the flippy screen and audio jack. I've been using it with my 15mm f/1.7 and that combo is a dream machine for my kind of work. When it hits the market in September, I plan on purchasing it. Thanks Markus!

I'm considering getting this camera. The big lump on top is actually a plus for me. It puts the wind filter further away from the lens so you don't get stray hairs sticking down in the video shot. So I like the mic being up out of the way. Plus it looks more vintage, which is kind of cool. Just sharing my thoughts :) Thanks for the review.

I don’t know why it is only a couple of days ago that I found this camera to be of interest to me. Maybe because it is until now that I noticed it has such high res screen and evf and such high magnification! Not only for a camera of its segment but even mid range APS-C sensor MILCs don’t have those specs in the evf and screen!
So I started watching videos to get to know the camera better. Specifically videos focused on still photography as I have no big interest in video and definitely not in holding the camera in front of me.
Your video is one my favourites in content and the favourite in presentation!
I like the fact that on top of great evf and screen, great autofocus, it also does focus stacking. This looks like a really compelling camera for stills.

When I gave it back to him, I came up with this insane idea that I want 3 camera bodies but different sensors. one, full-frame, one aps-c, and one m43. Seeing this video, I might try to pick one of these up.

Such an extensive review, @MarkusPix! After watching the video, I checked the size difference of this G100 and my GM5, which I have on my hand all the time when I go out of the house. I noticed that the biggest difference is the EVF hump but they are essentially of almost the same size category. This is, I believe, is a great camera body for those who missed out on the GM5. After checking the physical sample, the G100 is still a tiny camera.

Great review! Great camera! I’ve loved LUMIX for a long time now, they’ve been my favorite since my canon fanboy days. I love all the features they have that many others don’t. 12:30 photos while videoing being one, photograb a frame AFTER videoing being an even bigger one that I like. I don’t usually shoot 4K either. Their stabilization is actually very good, not just for video but extremely good whilst picture taking on the move. Their 4K photo features sound like a gimick but they are actually very useful(focus stacking, post focus). Great lens choices AND you can use Olympus lenses which are also great. Btw that lens used at 6:29 wow this looks fantastic! Also btw the teeny tiny Olympus 1.8 17mm is one of my favorites, adds NOTHING to the weight and size of the camera but is a whole lotta fun for the photographer especially if traveling. Thanks for this informative and fun review!! 👍👍

That little 12-32 kit lens from Pany is great for my needs. I have it usually on a spare GX1 (venerable little MFT that I have owned for YEARS...just changed the cracked LCD at my desk today...my Father's Day little project). This particular pancake zoom has enough bells and whistles to help me take very good shots...and having a small camera always around means I am less likely to miss those moments. Yes, the smartphone is there too...but it cannot beat the flexibility of MFT optics, IMO.

Thank you for explaining the lense mount and how it allows such a wide variety of lenses. The lense on my Lumix FZ300 is pretty good, but I've been wanting an interchangeable lens camera, and this one looks great. Excellent, timely review! You have an awesome partner in B&C!

Hey Markus, great review. I have had the M50 for around 6 months and I'm really loving it, as I learn about Photography and videography. After this Vlog though, I now really want the G100!! Thanks...you're costing me a fortune! Great channel, you've earned yourself a sub from me. Love your honesty, realism and passion for your art.

Stumbled on this today…about 3 years late. Great video as always and you showed (once again) how almost any camera can deliver great results these days with the right skills. Only few TH-cam folks use this camera often, usually with good results and you can pick up a used version (and sometimes new) for a great price. AF seems fine with face tracking on. Especially good for those with MFT lenses. Another nice camera!

Thanks for helping me make a choice. With the price I can use the extra 300 bucks for other equipment. So many folks BS on reviews as if they’re either being paid or just fanboys of a brand. This felt genuine with facts!

Hi @MarkusPix. I got the G100D in the end and am really enjoying learning how to use it. The screen turns of when i put my eye to the vewfinder on this model so no accidental button pressing. I see what you mean about finding out what focal length I like and how much differince it makes. Just using the kit lense for now and I like it from 18mm up to 32mm range more but I can see how the other focal legnths can be useful for different kinds of shots. Seems like this will be great for shooting my guitar tuition videos :) Thanks

7:30. Omg thank you! What a relief. I was getting annoyed lately because every camera review video shows heavy post processing "color correction" grading with the footage, as if it's required on all cameras. I was thinking to myself, I wonder what they did before we had computers? Surely you can just use the right lens filters, and the correct lights, and the correct white balance settings, and the correct color spectrum lighting, and achieve the look you want, without heavy post processing? I don't want to buy a new Mac computer, just to correct color balance.

    • @andrewblackburn1426
      @andrewblackburn1426 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I get the use of grading and LUTs to achieve a particular look, but I totally agree - it's not *that* hard to get the lighting right and manually set the white balance. But then, I'm the guy who shows up to his kids' school concerts with the white/grey cards to set white balance and exposure...
