This was so helpful! My brake pedal is up too high and it has too much play in it so I'm going to lower it a little bit and then tighten it up. Everytime I come to a stop I have to push down so far that it throws me off balance and I fear that I'm going to fall off the bike. Hopefully this fixes that
Just used this video. Hopefully it fixes my issue. Rear brake worked fine before. Replaced chain and sprockets and installed new EBC shoes while I had it off. Cleaned the inside with gasoline & a rag. Never could get the rear brake to really work after. Could lock it up before and after it's like it wouldn't even make contact hardly. So like I said hopefully this little bit makes a difference for me.
Great video- thanks! I’ve got a sticking rear brake issue (76 xl 250)- sticks when in neutral, always, but I can’t seems to fix with the adjustments you described - any thoughts greatly appreciated:)
Hey man, that was awesome. thanks for all of your videos. I am working on an 83 suzuki gs450 and have a break related question for you - When I push down on the rear break, it seems to stay stuck in the down position. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
I have a 1983 cb550sc nighthawk with the same exact brake setup but even when I tightened the rod all the way down I still have about 4 inches till brake engagement.
Hey man! I have a CL350 and was curious if you could give me a quick brakedown of the parts needed to connect the actuator arm to the brake pedal? I seem to be missing some pieces and can't figure out what they are called and don't know where to even search to find them.
Hay there.. Im from Sydney, Australia.. Just wanted to say i watch all your videos and they are really helpful. Thank so much..Would you ever do an engine rebuild with concise videos?
Thank you! If I ever pick up a project that needs a rebuild I will definitely document the process. So far none of my bikes have needed to be torn down that far.
Always great shows ! Whats your thoughts of of taking a Triumph T100 and trying to do RestroMod Desert Sled ,kinda like what federalmotous did with that Yamaha SR500
I guess for how to videos I own a 70 Cb350 and have trouble understanding how to do the cam chain timing. Your other videos cover valves and ignition timing but this is all I'm lacking in info.
Great and helpful video as always, keep up the great work. Makes me want to pull out my cb550 and get the thing running. Where did you get the carb sync tool in your carb sync video?
Classic Octane Thanks, but between my CBR600, super moto pitbike and my Buell, my 74 CB550 completes me. She's mint with matching numbers, just needs new solenoids. Yes I have a very understanding wife.
@@icarusflight2396 That sounds awesome! I know this is an old comment but just curious, did you ever get your CB550 running? I'd love to see some pictures and maybe even a video if possible!
@@MatthewJFitzpatrick Got it running, sold it to a friend of mine. His father was getting over drugs and needed something to focus on keeping up/ restoring. Felt it was a better cause than me keeping it just to ride every other week.
Hi, hoping for some help. I ride a classic Honda (CB160) and the brake pedal can go up to 4 inches down which is obviously way to much and unsafe since it takes an awkward foot movement to tilt down enough to apply the brakes. The issue is the rear nut you mentioned controls this is already tightened all the way in. What could I do to solve this problem, or what should I maybe look up since I'm lacking in motorcycle jargon (new rider). Thanks.
I'm trying to get in the habit of posting some type of how to video mid week. Some might be short simple jobs and others more complicated. Thanks for watching!
Not a good idea to alter the brake drum lever position from stock. It is indexed with a dot for a reason. If say your shoes are worn and the brake engages elsewhere and is moved aft as the video suggests you run the risk of over centering of the brake shoe internal expansion mechanism which eventually could cause jamming and brake lock up.

all the videos are bringing back the first bikes I rode and a refresher in mantainance
Thanks man great explanations. Im trying to build my first cafe racer and am trying to learn as much as I can. This video helped allot.

There should be a spring on the lever that pulls it back up. Make sure yours in on there and not stretched out too much.
And everything is lubed up

Will you be doing front brakes next too? My bike currently doesnt have the front brake lever but the brake drum is still there
I unfortunately don't have a bike with a drum brake in the front other wise I definitely would put together a video for you.
Excellent video, thank you.

I think that could be pretty awesome. I haven't seen any T100s in that style yet.
Nicely done. Concise and helpful.
awesome work man
just wanted to ask that what are the sizes of those tire and what is the company?
Thanks, the tires are Bridgestone Spitfires. 100/90-19 and 110/90-18 on stock rims
thanks man
awesome chanel! can you make a how to video on how you made your intro
Go to an app called Fiverr and pay someone $5-10 to make it I guarantee it's how he did it

Ok, I will put that on the list for potential future videos. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
Thanks! I had too much play in pedal travel.

You could always sell your CB550 to me :-). Here is a link to the carb sync tool amzn.to/2j65dIZ

Your rear brakes might be worn down and need to be replaced. I would check the brake shoes to make sure they still have enough pad material.
@@ClassicOctane Thanks for the response I'll check the brakes
Have a fully restored 1966 Suzuki t20 how much do you think it is worth?
Great videos. What camera do you use to film your vids?
Mixture of a Sony A7II and a GoPro Hero 5
more videos like this man

I was pressing my rear brake and it all of a sudden seemed to snap and now moves freely with no brake pressure at all, what could that be?
On a 1980 Honda cb650, my first motorcycle I’m still new to this
Ik im 3 years late, but my brake lever seems to hit the crank case when properly adjusted
Where did you find that seat?
It's a Tuffside flat seat.
Sweet thanks!
