    The reason why M11 has this empty and weird feeling, is because it’s not yet complete. Hence it runs currently only every 20 minutes. But its still nice to have CRRC trains!

    I like the line 4 rolling stock and the different colour schemes on the trains outside. The line 5 trains are for my taste the best looking 👍.

    In February 2006, when I visited Istanbul, the worst interchange I saw was Yusufpasa T1 and Aksaray M1, quite a long way to walk between lines. Karakoy and Taksim were not exactly great. There was no Marmaray at the time and only the T3 was on the Asian side. Otogar was not too bad. At the time, the most common way to pay for the metro, trams and ferries, was the Akbil. It cost YTL 1.10 for each credit, and the salespeople only spoke Turkish. I had to rely on what I taught myself, to get around. Many busses, including the "crazy busses" only took cash, change was given. That is how I remember it being in February 2006 in Istanbul. Interesting times there......

    Line 1's trains from ABB used to have the same DC-pulsing drives that Gothenburg M31 trams had. seems they both got upgraded tho.

    Ohhh the first Hyundai Rotem trains are almost the same of the Series 400 stock on Line 4/Yellow (Via Quattro) of the São Paulo Metro, they're driverless too, and even the motor sounds almost exactly the same.

    The PSD door sound at 02:47 is very similar to Tel Aviv LRT underground stations PSD door sound.

    That map of the Istanbul metro system does seem so confusing compare to other metro systems in other cities including Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, New York City and other major cities. Plus was that a cat laying down on top of the ticket barriers.

    16:13 those line 1 ABB trains look so similar to Vienna U-Bahn's type U trains!

    • @TheMexxodus
      @TheMexxodus 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's because they're based on the Vienna oldest rolling stock and built by the same company ABB. By the way: it's also without passageways between the carriages. And I find them weirdly the most goofy looking 👍😜😎

    • @gabrielstravels
      @gabrielstravels 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheMexxodus I agree 😂 although I'm pretty sure the Vienna trains were actually built by a local company called SGP (Simmering Graz or something like that). I remember that despite being built by the same company, some of the older Vienna trains had different sounds lol (some had some kind of IGBT-VVVF and some had GTO thrystor).

    These trains are seemingly an older model of the new high capacity metro trains in Melbourne Australia as they use a very similar VF drive and have very similar designs. Of course the trains in Melbourne are configured differently with less doors to work with our local specifications and those trains were also designed and partially manufactured by one of China’s biggest national transport vehicle manufacturers but a lot of the parts are sourced locally.
    We also have Metro Polis trains from Alstom in Melbourne which were designed in the late 1990s and entered service in 2002 and they would continue ordering more of them over the years with the trains in the final order entering service in 2019 while looking dated by that point in time because of them being identical to the 2002 design but just with a new more accessible seating layout.

      The Guangzhou Metro one: The trains on line 11 are made by CRRC, a chinese company. Probably imported as a standardised design that's based on the trains that are used on chinese express metros.

    You've said almost all interchange stations necessitates walking on street level but I'm going to disagree here because they are in minority by quite margin actually.
    We may categorise interchanges according to convenience.
    1. Ones that are built together. In this you only need to go up and down one or two stations and walk only up to a minute: İkitelli Sanayi, Yenibosna, Şirinevler, Mahmutbey, Kirazlı, Bakırköy, Zeytinburnu, Şehitlik, Topkapı, Vatan, Alibeyköy, Kazlıçeşme, *Yenikapı*, Kabataş, Taksim, Üsküdar, Ayrılık Çeşmesi, Söğütlüçeşme, Dudullu, Levent, Hisarüstü...
    2. Ones that are connected by pedestrian tunnels or bridges. These will take 3-4 minutes: Mecidiyeköy-Şişli, Gayrettepe, Kozyatağı, Ünalan-Uzunçayır, Haliç-Küçükpazar, Sirkeci and a few more Metrobüs ones...
    3. And bad interchanges where you need to walk on the street for 3-4 minutes: Yenibosna (Metrobüs), Laleli, Aksaray-Yusufpaşa, Eminönü, Kağıthane...
    Although there are those bad interchanges as you've said, changing lines in İstanbul is mostly either good or not bad.

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On the Victoria line in London it was built with same level interchanges to other lines. At Oxford circus you can walk off the Victoria line and straight onto the Bakerloo line on the other side of the platform. Also the NCL tunnels were rerouted and re dug in places, completely changing station layouts, in order to create same level interchanges.

    • @erenmcolak
      @erenmcolak 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, Istanbul is just not on that level I guess. It is a great convenience.
      I still don't think Istanbul is that bad though. Two minute (for most) seems pretty okay to me, three to five (for some) is not unacceptable to me either.

    The trains that are currently running on line M6 are the 1st generation rolling stock of line M2, they are currently being refurbished because of technical problems while running in an 8-car configuration, so that they can operate on line M2 again. Despite how old they look, they are actually not that old (manufactured by Alstom in 1999) though the technology is pretty dated for its time. I'm pretty sure this is one of the last metro trains ever made that uses a DC Motor - Thyristor chopper traction setup. These trains are actually pretty enjoyable to ride on line M2, but not on M6 (because the line is pretty short and single track between stations).

      From what I know it's actually pretty easy to do on the GEN2, basically you trip the governor from the menu, however I'm wondering how engineers actually reset the safety wedges once the test is complete.
