Monorails are just really fun to ride. There is something about being raised off the ground on a high up rail with a view which is really cool. I always like riding the one in Las Vegas. I wish we had more Monorails around the country and some high speed ones that cover some long distances too. It's just fun transportation and pretty efficient too.

Zidders Roofurry The guide track does all the steering. The only traffic is other monorail trains. A closed system like this seems inherently safe by design.

this may not happen but i think the monorail should stop at the grand Californian then go to the Disneyland hotel then from there to the paradise pier hotel AND THEN to downtown Disney to Tomorrowland

One of the ride's engineers was in our section of it in order to check a report by a prior rider that there was a strange bumping noise, possibly a worn tire. There was no such noise during our ride, but I got talking with the engineer and he noted that they were planning on removing all the seats from the monorail to make it a standing-only ride, so that it could hold more people. I questioned whether that made sense since I thought that many people thought of the monorail as a nice, easy respite from all the walking around Disney World and the huge amount of time people spent waiting in lines for the various rides. So, did they actually remove the seats? I couldn't tell from the video.
Did the original Disneyland Monorail pass through a building? I realize the Grand Californian was built in 2001 but was there a stop in a building before that?

we need monorails rolling across america our highways are over clogged with auto mobile traffic we need high-speed rail and monorails to clean the air and make our highways safer keep moveing folward
Until the US government and said govt regulators and lobbyists get their hands out of their asses and take their blinder off from what asia and europe have been doing for 30+ years now. High speed rail is only gonna be a pipedream in the us and north america in general.
Most Americans aren't the type to travel on any rails be it standard, monorail, or maglev. It's theorized Americans like cars too much, are too individualistic, and don't have the same infrastructure and city layouts, so a passenger rail service can't thrive. What about Amtrak you say? Amtrak has to live off it's government funding/subsidies to survive because America needs a rail service but doesn't *NEED* a rail service. It just wouldn't work out with American culture and urban design. Sorry but we tried, and every business that did passenger rail stopped eventually, which was why Amtrak was created.

Cut service, more people need to rely on cars, public transport loses money, so they have to cut services, etc. If public transport were more accessible, more would use it. For many, cars are a necessity, not a want. There’s no doubt that, for many, the car does represent personal freedom, but with the rise of Uber and self-driving cars, a good alternative (like the monorail and people movers) would be accepted.
I remember before there was California Adventure, Grand Californian, & Downtown Disney, all that was just a massive parking lot for Disneyland. I hardly recognize that part of the property anymore. Those were the days.
And as we pull into Tomorrowland station, to the right is the now derelict track of Rocket Rods and the People Mover, which for some reason is kept intact even though it's been deemed unsafe to support any rides. It was so popular, Disney doesn't want to see it go. Hopefully a piece of it won't fall on your head when you walk under it.

Is this similar to MK where i could jump on at Downtown Disney and just do a loop (or ten) without having to have park admission? I was there last year and got to DD too late to hit DL & didn't ask the cast members if I could ride and I'm really regretting it.
I love the WDW monorail (made a video on it) and this is the first time I've watched an entire trip for the DL monorail! Thank you! It seems a little over complicated as it twists around through Tomorrowland, but still extremely cool! Also, I have to take issue with the term "the original Magic Kingdom." There is only *ONE* park called the Magic Kingdom and it's in Florida. All the rest are called Disneyland. ;-)
I think Walt referred to it on opening day as a "Magic Kingdom" so that's why they say that, and Disney World took that and named it for their own version of Disneyland park. But I'll admit that's some good shade they thow out lol.
