For all my life (69 y old Dutch man) I am a fan of PF and have seen them several times.
Nightwish I got to know after Floor's participation in the Dutch show Beste Zangers.
For me this is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to an exceptional band!
Marko’s voice speaks volumes in this one. Just epic, by all standards!
The lyrics were actually a heart touching memorial to their deceased band mate, Richard Wright. I think Nightwish did a phenomenal interpretation of the emotive depth of the song.

I was in that concert.. Bitter sweet one.. Tarja´s last show with Nightwish.. But still one freaking good show.. Got blown away so many times that i lost count!
You are incredibly lucky, my friend. Also, I'd like to know: How did you feel after finding out Tarja was fired just the next day? I've always wondered what it must feel like to experience that first hand.
Usually, only a fool covers a Pink Floyd song. Rarely does any good come from it. Then there's Nightwish. This is simply beyond words. Stunning is all I can come up with.
For me, better than the original, speaking as a fan from the early 70s
More emotion, more dynamics and Marco's phenomenal vocals.
Plus Emppu can play anything Gilmour can.

I still get chills when Marko goes high and clean.
The lyrics in this song are metaphorical and referring to when Pink Floyd was a young close knit band. Recalling the fond memories of previous musical dreams together. Just like Nightwish was about to embark on after this final performance. Marko can really bring it. There is a dark and foreboding mood in this song. The end was only a few minutes away.

Jukka, the drummer, did suffered from chronic migraines. I read that he was getting very little REM sleep each night! I understand quite well.
This version is really a.Pink Floyd tribute! I love.Pink Floyd...as one of.my siblings turned me onto them many years ago!

You are only human to feel emotional during this amazing performance of a Pink Floyd song. If you didn't know, you would be forgiven for thinking that this song was one of theirs, it was so well executed. Emppu really stepped up to the mark to do justice to David Gilmore's guitar solos in this track, Emppu really made it his own. Then we come to Marko's vocal, breathtaking, while also playing bass guitar! Tuomas perfectly arranged the backing keyboards as he always does, and of course Jukka fighting with his insomnia and migraines, immaculately played the drums giving this song a perfect platform.
Its just superb.

His voice is perfect for the lyrics, he gives it all the right oomph. The lyrics really speak to you, and for me it brings out nostalgic memories, of times when grass was indeed greener, the light brighter, the days sweeter, and the nights a wonder - With friends around me.
A time before a lot of the excessive/reckless construction projects, madness, blatant political falsehoods, division, scamming, lost wisdom, injustice, broken bonds, and institutional dysfunctions/corruption of today.
I don't think most realize just how much these things have changed in the last 20-30 years. I've lived through them, I've seen them change, I've seen thing deteriorate, and I pity the youth of today. But I pity some of those who can recall better times even more in some ways, we will have to live with the knowledge of what was lost. Having experienced better days.

Heavy and painful, yes. That's what it felt like at Hartwall Arena that night as well, to the extent it made people nervous. For a reason, as it turned out. I'll never forget the feeling.
Jukka having a migraine is a weird urban legend, though, that started on TH-cam a few years ago. Not rooted in reality whatsoever, but people like to spread the story around.

Pink Floyd in my top 3 bands ever. that said, this is my favorite version of this song, period, and if Marco was still with NW it would be amazing to see them do a full PF tribute concert.
Animals 1977 is the last Pink Floyd I own. My preference is for the older Pink Floyd when the band took risks. I had to find a studio version because I have never heard this song. I do find this Nightwish version to have a better sound than the original studio.
Nightwish put out there 1st single from the upcoming album yesterday , its a music video .
To me it sounds more Nightwish without video. Video is very "nice" but takes space from song.
This was a great cover. Along with Walking in the Air, and Phantom of the Opera from this era.

At the end of the concert they gave Tarja a letter of dismissal from the band. They had no idea if Nightwish could go on. It was a poignant moment for them all.

The migraine rumor comes from an older reaction to this song where she thought he had a migraine based on how he covered his head when not playing. Pretty baseless if you ask me.

I actually saw a videoclip long ago where Tarja said she was sick and that Jukka hade a migraine or headache. And no I don´t remember the name of the video. It was in finnish though

Legal note. You, your videos, seem to have been blocked a few or more times. To prevent that from happening, you need to add a legal disclaimer to each of your videos where you point to (under US Law) being allowed to freely use this Intellectual Property (IPr) of someone else, for scientific, journalistic, or educational purposes.
Some of the US content creators have that phrase under each of their videos and seem not to get impacted.

This cover is rubbish and does Floyd no favours and foreigners dont get what this song is about or how Floyd fans think about Floyds last song on their last album . Also this is a foreign band and should have stuck to their own music .
