NOTHING ... unless you slap a disposable lens onto the front of it and take some pics.

Part of the difference with the disposable lens is it's designed to project onto a slightly concave curved film plane. So the fun saver can compensate for the simple optics that aren't corrected for a flat film plane

@@BadFlashes also probably mounted a little off-center and slanted, which isn't detectable on the Sony, bc of crop (probably)
I feel like you can see it in the results. The distortions on the MDa are noticeably worse.
Wow this is really great info I haven't come across before. Because I've had similar results adapting a Kodak Funsaver lens to my Fuji. Do you know if the Fuji Quicksnap disposable operates in the same way?

Fun stuff! Goodness, just shot last weeks vacation on disposables for the first time since I was a kid and waiting for my c41 kit to come in from freestyle. Normally a 4x5 darkroom print guy but this time the funsaver was just right.

this is so interesting with the focal distance and focus to inifinity, i have the Keks lens in ltm mount and apart from soft fringing its really sharp to infinity in the centre, ive tried it on l mount with adapter on digital and on leica iiia on 35mm and its been a great fixed f10 28mm option

Dude, what is that song at 10:01? With the sax? Gud taste, also the blue from the sky from the printed lens has a similar quality to how aerochrome renders the blue skies, imo, looks cool, also like the barrel distortion, looks real interesting, kinda get why people like holgas, but wouldn't get one myself.

I've designed and built a few 3D printed lenses over the years for both my Nikon and in M39 mount and I can say that they all need to be properly calibrated before coming close to being usable. On the Nikon F mount, you can't use just any lens as the mount is so far away from the film. But on the up side you adjust in the viewfinder so it's not that bad. On the LTM mount, you have to calibrate things very well before gluing everything into place. But if you shrink the aperture, you should get better results.

@@BadFlashes my 6 yo is a Griffindor who is not allowed to watch the movies w/o reading the books first, so we are... invested. Also, Mario is his Mickey, so Universal just makes sense. Being the "old" mom who pulls out the film point and shoot is always fun.

The Keks Oreo Lens is way sharper. They also use Kodak toy lenses. And for a better comparison maybe crack open a funsaver and put the film in the MD. Thanks for the fun video ✌🏻🔴📷

the "film plane" in these disposable cameras are acutually designed to be curved to compensate for the lens' chromatic abs. that's why when using the lens on a normal body (film or digital), it will ab more😉

whats odd with the leica combo is the inconsistencies some look great and sharp and others look like trash, you wouldn't expect there to be such a broad spectrum of results, surestheres always gonna be some but its pretty extreme differences depending on the photo, love universal! another great video Caleb!

I think it has singing to do with the focus distance. That’s all. The ones that look good are closer and if it’s not in 3feet. It sucks haha

Fun Kodak camera lens beats the printed lens on the Leica body. That just sucks. Full stop period. Just don’t use flash as it bleached out the subject indoors. Good comparison and a fun experiment Caleb. Just don’t do it again !!!!

the film plane is curved in those disposable cameras, so it‘s to be expected that the lenses do not project onto a flat but curved plane, which will result in less sharp images on the leica compared to the disposable.

Recently bought an M7 and for some reason it came with 2 body caps, and I thought it would be goofy to make one of these with a Fuji disposable.
Maybe I won’t do that, lol.

@@BadFlashes yup hahaha three rolls all came out really green! Never had such a strong cast from shooting indoors before, ruined my Christmas photos, tbh even ruined the outdoors ones. I feel like I may as well push ultramax or buy portra and I am very excited to try flic films aurora!

Lots of factors could give that. I’ve never noticed a crazy green cast like that
The other option I have seen but not pursued is using lenses from bricked point and shoot cameras with great lenses.
