  • Will we have a second cutting of hay this year? It's not looking very promising at the moment. Our hands have been tied with the high cost of fertilizer and now, we are experiencing drought conditions with no call for rain in the near future.
Our fingers are crossed and we are sending up prayers for He always provides and blesses us with what we need. For now, we keep on keeping on...

We haven't had much rain either . . . on one hand I'm glad I cut our fields tall to help survive the droughts but that extra growth will add dead material into my second cut. I'm hoping nationwide it's not terrible like last year, I couldn't buy my hay seed since there was only a bit of it (who knows what the price will even be, UGH!)
    nice looking hay trailers!

Happens to the best of Us...... Largest hay field for us is 15 miles away.....With a sharp right turn in the middle of town...... One time we lost about 10 rounds making that turn....My Son Jumped out and with some help rolled them in the Grocery store parking lot and came on home.....Loaded one loader tractor on a gooseneck and went and got them...... We only strap the bales on the end of the trailer.....

Yes, it happens! Often times round bales get left in the ditch on these country roads around here.

It's good to hear from you Ricardo! All is well here and we've been busy. We ended up with plenty of hay for the winter and the feeders are getting fat. The family and I hope you and yours have a healthy and prosperous 2023. - Kim

Makes it rough to graze hay fields this early. Dry lot of places..🙏🙏 for rain.. In Nov of 85 we had the 100 year old flood here..rained for 3 days..just a steady rain. River was 32 feet above flood stage and that's 21feet I think? Then in summer of 86 it was just as dry if not dryer.. didn't rain till August and we sold some cows from each herd .. and calves in August.. I brush hog a swamp that summer it was so dry..

Since I posted that video we've had several rains. I'm sorry for such a late reply. We've actually had some severe lighting... bale of hay got struck and completely burned! I'll be sharing a clip as soon as I get time to put an update together... You doing okay?

@@thecattlemanswife Hi , Sorry for my late response too..been busy with things..I'm just about ready to leave this place.. waiting on a delivery to me. My special friend is having a delivery sent to me for my keeping and to bring with me to KY ... She'll be meeting me there shortly after I get there. Glad you have gotten some rains. Been just storms here and hot and humid 🥵.. Years ago our neighbors big ole barn was hit by lightning strike and burned to the ground..lost barn and over 2,000 Sq bales of hay.. all that's left is the concrete.. Many years ago we had a small field of hay down at house and my parents had to go to funeral I think anyway it was looking like rain. So my brother and I decided to take tractor and rake and rake it up and make a hay stack. I wasn't old enough to use the baler.. we worked out u know whats off and finally got a stack made. Pole in the ground and all. I remembered my Grandpa stacking oats.. Didn't know at time but my mom was home and watching us out the kitchen window.. we finished just as the rain came. We no sooner got to house than we heard it strike and my mom hollered at us to look. And it struck the pole and our hay stack was gone. Probably been about 40/50 bales
