  • In this episode, I discuss Mental Health Awareness Month, my sister, and suicide loss. I explain the importance of these episodes and how they honor my sister's memory. I strongly emphasize the need to move past awareness and take action in mental health. I share my personal experience of losing my sister to suicide and the ongoing grief and guilt I feel. I conclude by expressing my commitment to mental health advocacy and a hope for a future where no one has to experience the pain of losing a loved one to suicide.

I love that idea: "Mental Health ACTION" month. Awareness. Acceptance. Action.

Aaron, I'm sorry you lost your sister to suicide. I almost lost an older brother 2 times before he succeeded on the third time. He had lots of challenges (many of which I got more support around than him, growing up) and so there was a lot of guilt around that as well. I would have LOVED IT to have provided your idea of "universal mental health awareness, acceptance and action" early on; for him, for all my brothers and sis, for all young folks, and all adults alike.
Thanks for doing this episode. 😊
Enjoy the celebrations and your upcoming marriage!
