Fr. Mike points out how advice from books like Proverbs and Sirach may not apply perfectly to every situation, but are meant to help guide us towards wisdom. He also highlights a piece from Sirach that encourages us to avoid "deserted places"-calling us not only to stay away from sin, but to stay away from what leads us to sin. The readings are 1 Maccabees 3, Sirach 7-9, and Proverbs 22:5-8.

Please pray for the families who are impacted by hurricane Milton. Nearly the entire west coast and central Florida were impacted. Many of these families have been impacted only days ago with hurricane Helene. 10/10/2024
Western NC is still reeling from Hurrican Helen, where the damage and loss of life is devastating. Last report I saw was more than 230 people dead and over 600 still missing. Entire communities, families, homes, bridges, and roads were washed away. Not just flooded, but washed away or buried in mud, trees, and rubble. 🙏😭💔ALSO IN FLORIDA, the danger is not over. The Alafia River in Florida’s Hillsborough County has flooded surrounding areas, continues to rise and is expected to crest at another 15-20 feet by tonight, Friday, Oct 11th.

As you discuss Proverbs ..." the borrower is the slave of the lender"... I'm thinking of the current Administration, borrowing money like there is no tomorrow, and how much this debt will be on our children. Way to go, Congress. Maybe they should read Proverbs at the start of each day!

This verse from the book of Sirach spoke to me as I am always revealing my projects and thoughts to everyone and each time, I am unable to realize my goals and dreams. So great to hear these wisdom verses, this world sometimes feels like its in freefall, I limit my time on tv these days, as it can be so depressing watching and listening to the nonsense that goes on. Just when you think it can't get much worse, it does! So glad to be able to keep coming back to the word of God.

Wow..Sirach should be read to .iddle schoolers or younger..Great stuff as you say father..I remember Mike Pence received alot of backlash when he said he would never dine with another woman other than his wife..I respected that..Wonder if he got it from Sirach? Is God informing Sirach? Or is this Sirach's wisdom?Bible is Gods word, must b coming from God..

God is really speaking directly to each one of us in Sirach
So much wisdom in today's readings. I must ask for wisdom every day in making any type of decision. Holy Spirit please help me with that. The book of Sirach is so interesting. Had not heard it before, and am happy to be hearing it now. Thank you Father Mike. Yes, your chuckle is great 👍.

Usually I start my morning one to two hours after you post.
I can end my six day work week with the WORD.
Beginning or end ...GOD'S WORD IS GOOD.
I know I should stay away from the near occasion of sin but I like to put the drink before me and say see I'm strong enough to take it but give it time and I find myself drowning in the bottles. Why am I so weak? Why do I love the drink so much in my brain that I fail to turn from it? "Whatever you do remember your last days, and you will never sin." It seems easier said the done. Who wants to always dwell on their mortality lest its depression over take you and to it you succumb?

I was introduced to the bible in elementary Catholic school , Sunday school and during mass. I was very comfortable with all the teachings. Now we are getting the down and dirty real deal Bible. Although much of it is hard to accept I believe my faith has become stronger. As I go through my day I constantly am thinking of unanswered questions that will only be answered when I hear the words "Welcome my good and faithful servant, welcome.
Honestly I never really felt like I needed friends, not sure why, I guess because the only two friends I ever had where very casual and lived far away from me. But maybe someday I will have friends and be a good friend myself.

Sometimes I picture myself from above, looking at this little figure in a maze. The ultimate aim is to reach the centre, without taking too many wrong turns. The maze is life, I am not programmed to perfectly find the centre at first go, as the free will can lead me up the wrong path! However if I switch the spiritual sat nav on (prayer) and listen to instructions, hopefully wise decision making will ensue.

All boys and girls......I pray me and my whole family, members be always how almighty God created and blessed us all to be girls and boys always . And always be protected, delivered kept safe and away, rescued from all evils, wicked's, bad's, wrong's, hellesh, enemies, violent, liars, stealers, thief's, sinful, busers, abusers, criminals, terrorists, completely purely, really hells everything and everyone.........Never we should become anyone anything of hells whom I am seeking protection, deliverence etc....... Almighty God, holy spirit, be blessed, honnored, respected, loved, glorified, protected always from all his and his everything's and everyone's enemies, hatful etc. All almighty God's people be protected etc......... Remember all who needs prayers, deliverence, protection, help, guidance, rescue, love etc. .......... Remember and pray for all who needs my prayers, right guidance , truth. ........ Remember all inocent boys and girls forced and willingly made to suffer and take torture on self etc in the name of Jesus Christ suffering.

So much truth in the book of syrup. You have to love the book of Proverbs discuss his debts and I love the book of Sarah.
I want to make an even greater effort to honor my mom and dad. It’s so true or like why and he gets better as you age.
It’s so true that having your daughter Mari Anna is a beautiful thing but I think that so important for a daughter of God to be married to a man of understanding. We forget that in the modern world in which we live.
I’m not a parent yet but I’d like to think that my children are out of the house, I know that even if I can’t make decisions for them, I can absolutely influence the decisions they make.

According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood

for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,

In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

That was very true. I was shut up and good principles with my parents even know they weren't Catholic. The warn me against drugs against smoking against drinking air everything I shouldn't do. But I didn't follow those things. I I started smoking on the way to junior high and high school. Then I started drinking too much when I came to another dog after I got a work on Fridays. I would drink from sundown Saturday's and to sundown Sunday. And that's not a good thing. I started having health problems. So I stopped drinking and I hadn't have a drink two thousand five. Then I start using drugs.
Browse, I'm sorry, did I didn't sing. No became a Catholic was baptized in 1979 I was 22 years old because I wasn't a baby when I was baptized. I had a sponsor. The one I chose is my😅 highest high school classmate No, I'm a practicing Catholic before. I was just the name catholic not being not being practicing Catholic. I've been back to the church 15 months now..
