I have had my R8 for a while now with several rolls through it, but I never knew about the feature of checking flash exposure with the DOF preview lever! Thanks for that! I will definitely have to explore that more. I may even break down and get a Leica flash ($$$). Thanks again.

I just got my Leica R8 on Sunday and I love this camera! My only issue is, that the rewind started sounding like a wind-up toy car after advancing the film I put in a couple of times… do you know of a fix for that by any chance?

The contax rts iii also has the flash metering feature you mentioned. The feature also works with any flash not just contax brand flashes.

The best flashgun for Leica R8 are the Metz brand with SCA 3501/2 adapter.
I own one Metz 32MZ-3 with SCA adapter for Leica who works flawless.
