I do believe she had stated in an interview that while they were recording the song she still wasn't selected as the lead... I guess this determined the decision quickly

Lovely reaction. Totally get the Rivers vibe. Any chance you watched the livestream of Epica's 20th Anniversary concert from Tilberg? It was an amazing show. They did a gorgeous hybrid version of Rivers where they started with the acapella version from OmegaAcoustic and Omega Alive and then transitioned to the full band at the end. Just amazing. They also did an amazing performance of Once Upon a Nightmare plus a bunch of songs from their first album that they hadn't performed live in a over a decade.
