I throw everything so this video made a nice change to that. Yours is a very slow process but well worth the effort Well done. very NICE mugs. Very impressive. Very interesting to see you work and it's successful too.
Thank you for this demonstration. It was very helpful and it's wonderful how easy you make it look. I can tell you have many years of experience, which is why you make it look so effortless. Your work is quite beautiful. Would you please be willing to share where you got the silicone mold? You mentioned Amazon, but I've not been able to find anything even remotely like it there. The ones I've found are very thick and deep, unlike the one you have. Many thanks in advance!
Can you tell me the size of those mats please? I love them and cannot find them on Amazon. I like the edges of this style! YOU are a fabulous teacher!!💚💚
Hi! I just started a hand building class this month and discovered your videos a couple of days ago. You are an inspiration! I love your videos and please keep making more!
You’re in Michigan!?! I’d love to come purchase some pottery from you! Are you near metro-Detroit? I fell in love with clay my senior year of high school and since then it’s basically all I think about. With school, work, and family issues it’s been nearly impossible to have clay time (or even be able to get to my tools). Watching videos like yours keeps me sane, very thankful to be able to watch your artistry. You are inspirational
Could you please forward the link for the stencils you use? I looked on Amazon and couldn't find them. I SO enjoyed your video. I have just started hand building at 63! I guess it's never too late. Finally retired and have time to explore my creative side! THANKS SO MUCH!
Beautiful work. I do have a question for you. I have had issues with taking the clay up from the table top. After rolling the clay out it sticks. Is there too much water in the clay? Or is there something I should be using on the table top? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and most of all your talents. 🤓🍎❤️👍
Excellent video! So many wonderful tips and great info. I have tried to find the textured silicone mats similar to what you are using but everything is much to short. Do you share your source for them?
Really appreciate this tutorial! Couple of questions. What surface are you working on? About the cutting template - it looks like the length (therefore the mug circumference) it is based on the repeat of the texture template. So the cut edges are in the middle of a repeat. Make sense?
I had a carpenter build me a table and I placed a hardiebacker cement board on top. It’s great for wedging, recycling and handbuilding. 😂 The template worked out perfect for this mug. The height was what I use for my 12 oz. mugs. The length (circumference) need to be short since my mugs are only 11 inch around

Let me say thank you for pulling your hair back. So I’ve watched a few of videos. I wanted to share a tip about video making. Put the camera in front of you and the light above and next to the camera. If you have to lean over to see something, you’re viewer will only see you. Love your work, just hard to sit back and enjoy..
Good vid, helpful, well done. Thanks for offering it. I teach handbuilding classes, will suggest students subscribe. I see you're from Dearborn; my original home is the U.P. Spent a week touring Detroit not long ago, stayed in Dearborn. Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Al-Saha Restaurant.

@@Curlyrana81 thank you!
Hi there! I’ve found your tutorial very helpful. Nicely done! How thick are you rolling your clay and how do you know when it’s the correct thickness?
W. Thomas An 1/8 of an inch give or take. Depending on if I’m going to stretch the mug into a shape or not.
Okay
Do you do anything with the bottom seam inside the mug? maybe reinforce it with a thin coil of clay?
Great demo. Does the solo cup not get stuck as the mug dries and shrinks?
Janell Harvey I remove them before they get leather hard. I keep an eye on them to make sure the cup will wiggle out.
Thank you so much. I love your videos and your work.
AWESOME video!!!
Thanks for the video. What size cookie cutter are you using for the base?

Can you give the link to the silicone mat you used for mugs?
Do u by chance have a link for the silicone strip?? Ty!!
Hi there, what material is your table work surface? Ceiling board?
As the mug dries how do you keep it from cracking? I tried that also but the clay always shrinks and cracks
Can you provide a link to the baking silicone sheets on Amazon? I cannot find them. Cheers?
Thank You!!

How long before firing?
