The spinosaurus would build log rafts and sit on them. They would use their back as a sail, and were capable with celestial navigation. They were the first ones to the Americas.
My theory, which is mine, about the spinosaurus, which I am about to say, is this: the spinosaurus is flat on one end, bulges in the middle, and is flat on the other end but in a different way than the front.
@@PaleoAnalysis Thankfully I have very good insurance, so while it's a massive waste of time and a huge headache, financially I'm all good! I'm just looking forward to more of your videos. Super informative, and also you're just a huge inspiration to me in terms of content creation generally.
Glad to see you sailing onwards. The video was very nice. You were one of the creators (way back over a year ago) that got me back into my lost fascination with the prehistoric. Godspeed.
Great video, never would've guessed there was dispute over these guys or realized what a mishmash of features they are compared to other contemporary top predators. "Big spino dino scawwwy" was about all I knew heading in.
My 3 year old is so excited you made a Spinosaurus video. He loves them and its a great example I use for how our knowledge and understanding of things can change as we become more intelligent and find new data. Thank you for the bravery of this controversial topic
I know you don’t like talking abt Spinosaurus, but it is my second favorite dinosaur. For me it is representative of why science is so cool. Good science changes as evidence is found, and videos may become out of date quickly, but that just makes it even more cool imo. New discoveries, theories, and reconstructions just means we are learning more about our world.
I think it’s high time that people should be allowed to have discussion on Spinosaurid without being harassed. As someone who dearly love this group of oddballs, it is irritating to see zoology/paleo content creators treating these long dead animals like some kind of forbidden curse rather than the unique creature that they were. Still, I can understand why they might do so. I’m just really sick of this messy cycle.
My first dinosaur book was read to me in 1965. It was said that Dinosaurs were cold blooded animals and roamed the earth as solo creatures. The T-Rex most likely ate her own young. So glad all our studies have brought us new enlightenment. Thank you for your channel. 😊
Allow me to congratulate you on this masterful rendition of the debate! Your sound approach is the very reason I am a subscriber to your channel - even if the released videos come at a pace of a 'minute', a geological one, that is. I remember the video by "Clint's reptiles" and the crew, to which I'm also subscribed and wanted to express my appreciation of you mentioning other content creators and giving them credit for their work; Although it should be the standard, today it's the hallmark of a great man. Please, keep up your precious work and never change!
You’re finally back? Awesome! Hope you settled whatever you were going through. I want to thank you! This channel has both educated and inspired me to get more invested in paleontology. Your awesome!
I love spino because watching studies come out as the community devolves into warfare is basically a irl sitcom. Very fun, much drama, would watch again. Also I love how weird they are. *Side note, Irritator Challengeri has my favorite dinosaur name because it is just a great microcosm of all spinosaurus studies. If only they knew how it would devolve from there....
I absolutely love talking about spinosaurids because of how unique they are. I do understand why people don’t like talking about it though… because of how little we know and how the community can easily get heated, it makes sense. I did really love this video though! It’s such a fun topic to me and thats why spinosaurus has always been my favourite! The story of spinosaurus is also very sad and interesting! The amount of science destroyed to time and unnecessary destruction is incredibly sad but serves as a reminder as to why we can’t let it happen. Cannot wait to see what else we discover in my lifetime!! I think I’ll subscribe now because this is something I’m really passionate about. Being a palaeontologist is one of the fields I’m considering pursuing! biology in general is awesome, alive and dead! ❤
On the topic of fans of spinosaurs being very passionate. I agree with you however, I think it's a very small group of people like this. I say this because I wanted to specialize my career in paleontology so I am "one of" these people the truth is after following this group of dinosaurs closer than a CIA agent following your browser history, I can say pretty confidently that our understanding of this group of dinosaurs is limited and not something to fight over I on behalf of the spinosaurid community actually incurage you to make more content on these animals and to just ignore the rabid fans of these animals online. You and nearly every other paleo TH-camr I know of on this platform is amazing and really helps me find modern paleontological resources. So please don't let the internet dictate what you post
So glad you're back brother. You are absolutely my favorite science presenter of prehistoria. I hope a lot of teachers are using these excellent resources you're creating.
Good to see you back, and talking about my favorite dinosaurs. It honestly wasn't until Clint talked about it that it was even a contentious topic. o.o;
I'm so glad you're back! One thing I don't totally getbis why conical teeth are better at catching fish than serrated teeth, for example. Maybe you could do a video where you showcase different types of teeth and why they're good for certain jobs. Anyway, keep up the awesome work! I'm so glad you're back :)
Conical teeth puncture and hold. Serrated teeth slice through and leave the carnivore with one bite out of a prey animal that got away. On land the predator can track down the escaped but wounded prey more easily than in that water.
It certainly has been a while. I had to look back at your videos to make sure that TH-cam wasn't showing some of my subscribed channels to me again. Welcome back!
Glad to see you back! And hey, what's a little bit of back in the saddle controversy to get your interact numbers back up than setting off the spinonerds?
When the graphic "why are they like this?" came up, after tim Tim saying it made his head hurt made me think the they you were referring to was the community arguing over spinosauridae! So glad you're back dude...
I remember seeing Clint was subscribed to you but never made the connection to who he was referring to lol, good stuff m8 love both of your guys' channels
The main problem, in figuring out where it goes in the tree, is the pretense of knowledge. Look at how few bones they actually have, and then the complete reconstruction they pretend to have derived from it. One of the biggest problems with paleontology in general, is this exact tendency to make wild guesses and then present it as fact.
Same thing happens in archaeology, especially with ancient religions that have no self recorded account in the form of the dead culture's own writing, you can perhaps get a taste of their justice system usually by how many people per population were sentenced to death and how they were put to death, one might presume different styles of execution relate to different crimes, but with no self account from the actual peoples, it's all just guess.
They are not "presented as facts". We left that particular flavour of positivism back in the late XIX century where it belongs. They are presented as the information we have up to this point. No legit scientist, paleontologist or historian would even claim to have a complete picture of those chapters of natural history. Please educate yourself. Respectfully, a historian.
@@CanaleAV if you are, in fact, an historian, then you must be well aware that historians view history through their ideologies and therefore ALL "histories" produced are carefully constructed narratives, not actual attempts to reveal reality as those present at the event/s experienced it and thought of it. Which is why you can have a "celebrated" historian like Shirer simply omit sources that contradicted his thesis that Germany was not a socialist nation. That his fraud is still accepted by "historians" is not surprising to anyone except other "historians". This is not to say that the study of the past has no value and nothing of value is being produced. Only to say that your self concept of being both an "historian" and empirical arbiter of the past cannot coexist.

welcome back! personally i figure its very very much like a crocodile. able to come out on land, lunge up at animals too close to its hiding spot, but very capable of hunting IN water
The sail would also help with swimming in keeping the body straight letting them catch fish while moving, something crocodiles are not very good at. It also is quite likely they could move their sail like dolphins can. The movement would be slight but seeing how much surface area it has a slight twist would be more than enough. One problem I do have though is that it seems better for large lakes than rivers. It's massive size means it needs a lot of space and rivers seem fairly small.
I feel like we're gonna find out Spinosaurus had wheels for feet, and the back, and tail were for steering their jetpacks.
Thats Skatepackosaurus, easy to mix the two up tho, theres ongoing debate around what fuel was used in the jet pack as well.
Now that you have found out the truth you have to be eliminated by the paleo mafia :D
The Palluminati? They got rid of all the Sasquatch fossils!
