Hot tip having done this kind of landings quite a few times. It goes soooo much smoother if you have a mask and a snorkel; between the position your body is in, not gulping down water, and seeing where you can put your hand and feet through the surf, it's simply a game changer!

hi gido here in hawai'i we fish off the edge of cliffs too but nowhere near as extreme as your adventures but on the lava rocks we use these shoes from japan called tabis and they have spikes on the bottom of the feet and there great for walking and hiking on the rocks and u should try looking into it but absolutely love your adventures and cheers mate to you

100%. Swell was forecast to drop all day and be better the next day but it almost seemed to pick up a little. Fortunately not much. I had 3 days of similar swell to be safe

I'm surprised to hear there were a lot of mosquitos. It doesn't look like there would be standing fresh water there long enough for larvae to form plus I always assumed they didn't fly more than a few hundred meters from place of birth. One of those assumptions are wrong I guess.

To be honest I wear socks on the rocks most the time. And when I go north I just wear standard reef booties in the sharp rocks. Mirage or mares reef boots

Awesome spot yet again, not climbing in but swimming, incredible. That wave reminded me of the 3 times I've been washed off rocks fishing. Once was a slip and landed flat on my back on a rock about 2 foot under water. The 2 times by rogue waves that I didn't see. the last time was the worst, smashed my face on a rock, split my mouth open, and pushed my 2 front teeth in on such an angle they were pointing to the back of my mouth, I don't know how they didn't come out. On Boxing Day as well, hospital couldn't do anything about the teeth as no dentist working and they said just keep pushing the teeth forward with my tongue. After a few hours they'd gone back in place somewhat.
That sounds hectic as. I wore a helmet as a safety precaution. Fortunately nothing bad happened. Although I think I smashed my elbow when I slipped throwing the barrels into the ocean the second day. Didn’t notice till hours later and now have a nice purple elbow 😂

Gido of all the things I have seen you do, swimming to and fro from that rock in the middle of the ocean has been the scariest. I have dreamed of island hopping around the Recherche Archipelligo in a kayak, ever since Bob Bubb, an abalone fisherman took my father and me tuna poling way out beyond Woody island in 1979, but the thought of great white sharks has always put me off. Bob told us a great white shark had been seen launching itself up the side of a granite island to grab a sealion. The Southern Ocean is clean, beautiful, beguiling and deadly!!!

Dude, just a little advice, your up too high on the rocks. You should be lower down to land those heavier fish. So what if you get an occasional splash of a wave. You swam to the rock island in the first place. I'm no expert fisherman, but I'm just applying a little bit of logic here. Great video though, first time watching. I'll be subscribing for sure.
