The new waves are 420HC, not 154CM. Leatherman only has a couple of new models I can find still using 154CM and none is the Wave (Skeletool and Charge). 154CM is only used in the replaceable wire cutter blades on most new models. 420hc is a serious step-down from 154CM.

Ozark says it was founded by a Swiss outdoor enthusiast Hans Schallenberger at 1996-06-20 in China.It looks like they have great achievements of climbing,of course,in China,Tibet mostly.They have Italian,American,HK designers aiming on Asian fit climbing equipments especially clothing,in "professional class"price.And Ozark is a moutain between Kentucky and Missouri.Hmmm... To be honest,no attraction for me.

I'm a Leatherman fan and I know American companies are capitalists but I just can't accept that the belt clip has to be sold separately for the Wave, Surge, and Charge. These are not cheap products you know.

Therefore, I imagine that by pressing very hard, these plates will be able to bend ... But the Leathermans are built on the same principle...
See, this is why you shouldn't make cheap 5 dollar multitools. Cause when you actually try to come out with a real multi tool. It makes people concerned about its durability, and the quality of the materials used. I kinda want this one, but given every Ozark Trail multi tool I've owned, has fallen apart, I just can't trust it.

What is not known is that both the Ozark Trail 18 in 1 Multiforce and the new style Leatherman Wave are both made out of 420HC -- the same exact materials. When you said the $38 Wave, you didn't know how accurate you were. Leatherman quit using the good 154CM steel for their blades, and went to 420HC, not even 440HC. At that point, everything breaks down to fit/finish and heat treatment as to whether one is in any real means better than the other. By the way, people watch videos to both hear AND see, not just watch someone flipping things around or doing things without sound. When someone CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH BUT HAS AN ENGLISH SPEAKING AUDIENCE, OR WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE A MICROPHONE -- a lack of talking in a video makes sense. Otherwise, people are getting just plain lazy.

The blade steel (420HC) was listed on the packaging and is why I bought it. 420 is not the greatest steel, but it is a good steel hardenable to 60RC, which is all that is required in a knife blade anyway. Not the toughest steel, but better than many stainless steels. I am also a bladesmith, among many other things. Leatherman would be better off using D2 tool steel, then they would justify their outrageous prices they charge, and would have a product that would not need servicing until after their 25 year warranty expires. The problem with them using awesome tool steels like D2 is that a person would only need to buy 1 multitool for the rest of their life. 154CM (Crucible Molded) is a good steel, for stainless as it can be hardened to 58-61 RCH, unlike most stainless in the mid 50's. D2 can be hardened to around 64 RCH, for example (hard as a file designed to cut steel) and that steel is extremely tough as well, and holds an edge for half of forever.

This Chinese product is sold exclusively by the large American company Walmart, whose stores you frequent with assiduity and fidelity by tapping on your iPhone 11! :) You will not have understood that the OZARK is not an exact copy of the Wave, it is not a counterfeit. I don't think you can get the extender separately. You have to buy another OZARK equipped with this one.

Yes the MultiForce is 2 oz heavier but has the Universal 1/4 Hex, the Wave does not have this added utility!

I'm a Leatherman fan and I know American companies are capitalists but I just can't accept that the belt clip has to be sold separately for the Wave, Surge, and Charge. These are not cheap products you know.

What is not known is that both the Ozark Trail 18 in 1 Multiforce and the new style Leatherman Wave are both made out of 420HC -- the same exact materials. When you said the $38 Wave, you didn't know how accurate you were. Leatherman quit using the good 154CM steel for their blades, and went to 420HC, not even 440HC. At that point, everything breaks down to fit/finish and heat treatment as to whether one is in any real means better than the other. By the way, people watch videos to both hear AND see, not just watch someone flipping things around or doing things without sound. When someone CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH BUT HAS AN ENGLISH SPEAKING AUDIENCE, OR WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE A MICROPHONE -- a lack of talking in a video makes sense. Otherwise, people are getting just plain lazy.
How do you know the steel in OZARK is grade 420HC?

The blade steel (420HC) was listed on the packaging and is why I bought it. 420 is not the greatest steel, but it is a good steel hardenable to 60RC, which is all that is required in a knife blade anyway. Not the toughest steel, but better than many stainless steels. I am also a bladesmith, among many other things. Leatherman would be better off using D2 tool steel, then they would justify their outrageous prices they charge, and would have a product that would not need servicing until after their 25 year warranty expires. The problem with them using awesome tool steels like D2 is that a person would only need to buy 1 multitool for the rest of their life. 154CM (Crucible Molded) is a good steel, for stainless as it can be hardened to 58-61 RCH, unlike most stainless in the mid 50's. D2 can be hardened to around 64 RCH, for example (hard as a file designed to cut steel) and that steel is extremely tough as well, and holds an edge for half of forever.
They are very much the same in many ways
