  • Immanuel Kant | Transcendental Idealism | Philosophy Lectures | Lectures by Waqas Aziz
    Immanuel Kant is famous for his Transcendental Idealism. Transcendental literally means things which are beyond human experience. Idealism states pure ideas of minds. Thus, Kant amalgamated both of these concepts into one Philosophy. For instance, Transcendental represents Noumena, and Idealism represents Space, Time and Twelve categories of mind. Kant explains that there are two worlds: World of Phenomena and World of Noumena. Things do exist independently in the world of Noumena. However, we cannot have direct access to Noumena. All we can perceive is the appearances of objects in the world of Phenomena. Moreover, he also states that Space and Time are only the products of mind. Space and Time do not exist independently in the external world.
    A clear-cut outline is as under;

    (Kant’s argument has a certain parallel to the fact that a person wearing blue-
    tinted sunglasses sees everything in a bluish light: according to Kant, the mind
    wears unremovable time-tinted and causation-tinted sunglasses, so that all our experience necessarily takes place in time and obeys the laws of causation.)
    May you make me understand the concept of cause and effect ?

    • @lecturesbyWaqasAziz
      @lecturesbyWaqasAziz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Human Mind inquires about Why something happens. What does make it happen? In other words, what is the essential or fundamental cause behind some phenomenon? Suppose, you are going towards your College. Before entering into the building, you see a dark cloud of smoke at the window of your class. What will you infer? You will certainly say that there is a fire in the class. Why do you say Fire? It is because of Causation. Smoke is the effect and Fire is the essential cause behind it. Obviously, You have experienced it in your life that essential cause behind smoke is Fire. Now, you inquire further. What does cause fire? It may be an electric short circuit or usage of any fuel to ignite fire.
      Now let's take it in a different way. I want to burn a piece of coal and wood in my room without using any stove or chimney. What will you say to me? You will say If waqas burns coal or wood in the room, it will result in huge smoke in the room. You already know that Smoke is the immediate effect of burning Coal or Wood. If there will be smoke in the room, there will be suffocation. Now, suffocation has become the effect, and smoke has become the cause. If there will be suffocation, we will fall unconscious. See, unconscious is the effect, and suffocation is a cause behind it. In this way a chain of Chain of cause and effect is developed. This chain of Causation helps humans in developing an understanding about the world.
      I have given you a very rudimentary example. I hope you got the point.
