Is it possible that the hyrkanians are inspired by the Mongols, or the huns?
Yes they very much are. Even by Howard's accounts.
Howard was not very subtle in his work. In Hyrkanian case it was quite obvious, especially by the name of the Hyrkanian settlement "Turan". (Not as obvious as the Iranistan though) He thought of them as the ancestors of the Huns, Turks, Mongols and probably various other nations. Diverging as they mix with different peoples in different places.
If Red Sonja is Hyrkanian, then why does she look so Caucasian?
@@neodonovandragoncareyblade257central asian people are eurasian, they are a mixture between caucasian and asian. In the world of conan turanians and hyrkanians are based on them. So it fits. It wouldnt if she were khitai or lemurian
@@neodonovandragoncareyblade257 I think Howard mentions somewhere that she is only technically Hyrkanian due to being born in Hyrkanian land.
There several redheads in Marvel universe who might be direct descendants from them, one I am certain is Sonya's blood heir
