- I was talking with a friend the other day about the different jerseys the New Jersey Devils have worn throughout franchise history.
I decided that it was time to do an Official Runnin With the Devils New Jersey Devils Jersey Ranking!
In this video I show a game worn jersey of each style the NJ Devils have ever wore, and rank them #1-#8.

I gasped! So excited to see your Toffoli SS jersey because I wanted one too! Had a weird feeling he wasn't gonna be around much longer. #8, to me, is a Deco-inspired design, linear, geometric and streamlined, so the cursive font does not really fit the overall pattern. But the cursive is kind of playful and "jokey" because of the double meaning. I don't love it or hate it, but I agree with your ranking. Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection! 😊

Randy McKay in the #1 slot. That’s what’s up! Concerning the jerseys, I have a feeling the Devils are going to do a significant rebrand when Fanatics releases their jersey template in a couple seasons. The logo from the stadium series jersey is the direction I see them going in to modernize the brand. Maybe not one solid color, but likely losing the circle / background.
@stanley62495 The classic white in the #1 slot! I can see them removing the circle. I am somewhat torn on that. I like the classic logo with the circle. I also like an alternate or a unique jersey without it.
Hands down the best logo in sports! Added to a black jersey would be best of all worlds.

Sick collection! I have the Christmas Tree with Richer from when I was a kid. That was always my fave until the stadium. Wish they wore that full time.

Completely agree with your rankings. I bought a Sykora home (white) when they won in 2000 and It's easily my favorite. I have the black Starter jersey and used the lettering kit from Utica's black alternate to make an Elias 25th anniversary jersey (the only year he was captain). This jersey looks amazing kitted out with red numbers/letters. Probably could've been worn on ice back in the 90's if it wasn't for Lou.

The number one jersey is the white Scott Stevens jersey with 1995 Stanley Cup patch. Yeah baby!!

Would love it if they tweaked the Jersey jersey....Put "NEW" above the "Jersey " and get rid of almost all of the white stripes. Add one or two red stripes also. It would look 100 times better

I grabbed one of those black starter jerseys off ebay, like 12 years ago. The prices have shot up since then. I regret not getting the other blacked out jerseys they had around 12/13. Although I probably would have got Kovy and hated it now

10:11 I managed to get my hands on a fanatics one with the iron-on logo instead of stitching (no fight strap, no airholes, etc.) because I was at school when they dropped and by the time I got home all the adidas ones in my size were sold out…

@tomace9767 That is an interesting concept. There was a warmup from a couple seasons ago that was all black with a white logo. I liked it alot. All of the RR's are 1 year and done! I wish Adidas did one last one this season before Fanatics takes over. I don't think we will see any changes for a few years

I am new school devils fan. Was only a child when they won the last cup but man I do like the “Jersey” jersey. It might be my favorite tbh among all team jerseys; not a troll btw just like the style

If they came out with a charcoal gray jersey with black shoulders black numbers with red outline and a midnight black logo I would PAY for it. As for your list. Completely agree with your list. Their classic whites are amazing. I really liked it with the black helmet.
@KennySlack that sounds pretty sick! I hope going forward get a bit more exciting with the designs. I think it is going to be a few years before we see anything new, as Fanatics is taking over from Adidas and they aren't looking to do lots of changes just yet
Yeah I agree. I was even hoping for them to add hints of gold when they had the 40 year anniversary a few years back but I could see where we may be accused of ripping off the senators ha

I knew the Black 3rd was going to come in last. I actually like it a lot. I don’t really have a favorite because I like them all.
The originals have sentimental value to me. That’s about it when it comes to favoritism.
I would love to get my hands on the Red jerseys with the NJ state on them. I think they are awesome. I will admit, when the SS jerseys were released, I hated them and thought it was a lazy design. After buying 2, I have drastically changed my mind once I saw them in person. I wouldn’t mind if the SS practice jerseys or SS game jerseys were our 3rd for next year.
@TravelinDevil76 I will like any Devils jersey by default! BUT, something has to come in last! The red jerseys with the state of NJ on them are the greatest warmups of all time. Those were so beautiful. I loved the SS jerseys from the first time I saw them online! I do not think we see any of the SS styles ever again. We may see something related one day. I am hoping for an inverse of the SS jersey; a black jersey with the red circle-less logo. I think that would be sweeeeet

Love your ranking, Ace. I'd personally flip flop the RRs at 6 and 7, but agree with your opinion otherwise. I don't own our current standard adidas/fanatics home/road kits bc of the striping changes. It looks unfinished to me without the waist stripe and the 1:1:1 sleeve stripe ratio looks off compared to the original 1:2:1. Also, sick collection! Thanks for sharing some of it for the video.

It’s funny how off marketing was with the SS lineup. Every other team still had retail jersey available long after the games were played except New Jersey. How stupid are these people in charge of retail? Money hungry people are trying to sell these things on EBay for $600-$1000 bucks. For a retail Adidas lol. The crap fanatics are $300-400.

I know the Devils said that the second retro reverse sweater was based on the Colorado Rockies, but I have always felt that the way the sweaters came out they looked much closer to the 1974-75 Kansas City Scouts' white sweaters. But whatever. Great video as always.

I have both game worn jerseys signed by the great John Madden worn on Scott Stevens night and Ken Daneyko night. These are my favorites.

I love the black jersey because the stripes on it have meaning and i love that. However after the last season we almost lost every game that we wore that jersey so my love has lowered. Also I think you forgot todays adidas jersey without the bottom stripe, I would put that at like 5 Reebok jerseys were just too iconic
@jayviation7879 I didn't want to get too into the details for the purpose of the video. It is a slightly different jersey, but the main concept is the same. I like the jersey with the stripe better for sure!

Solid list and collection! I got some sweet game worn that I overpaid for...haha! Stadium series authentic jersey 24 looked so BAD ASS from the stands in MetLife. Let's see how Fanatics does with the new NHL jersey contract. Adidas and Reebok were comfortable

Stadium Series jerseys are great EXCEPT the TRASH lettering and numbering font.
I was at the stadium game and even during the tailgate party If you were 50 yards away you couldn't tell whose name nor number was on the jersey.
Like WHY do we have to screw up the basics?

As iconic as the red jersey is, the white just pops, especially with a red customization kit, I miss that being the home. I'd love it if the Devils brought back the Stadium Series as a home alternate and I'd love to see a white version too.

@@runninwiththedevils Yeah, they'll be expensive which is probably why Adidas didn't think they were worth selling in the first place but since Fanatics has taken over production and cut out the middle man with the new contract, I suspect they'll be on sale or discounted with codes, as all authentics are, at various times of the year.
@jonathanchin3396 Adidas should have at least made them available. It was also shady to use the term "authentic" for what they were selling. They knew the public associated "authentic" with "what the players wear".
@@runninwiththedevils Adidas bought Reebok in 2005 and Reebok authentic 1.0s and 2.0s were produced until the switch over to Adidas for '17-'18. I got some MiC 2.0s from eBay but I can't remember if they were readily available at retail, this was after all the Indo Edge era.
Yep, I can remember CCM MiC authentics from at least the late '90s. There was no reason by Adidas to label them as such if they weren't what the players were wearing but Nike and Starter set the precedent when they started selling authentics that were made overseas.
@jonathanchin3396 I have a few Reebok game worns in the collection as well. I do think the Adidas branded ones were far better quality. The CCM Ultrafils are my favorite jersey of all time, hands down. Those things were absolutely beautiful.

I would deff put the stadium series as number one if they didnt screw it up so much, My Jack jersey didnt even come with the A patch even tho he had it in the game, but i would rank the list nearly identical with the white at number. forever my fav jersey since i was a kid in the 90's. always had a white stevens jersey my whole life

@cyn_citrus The Reverse Retro 2 was paying homage to the Rockies and Scouts. I should have mentioned KC as well!
I think the Jersey Jersey is kinda lame if its a blank. Although once the numbers go on HOO BOY its beautiful up close. The red shadowing on the numbers is sweet. To put it into perspective, my friend who customizes/stitches on the number kits for me is a die hard Ranger fan and he was ecstatic to do my Schmid jersey jersey for me cause he just loves the shadowed numbers that much.
RR 1.0 would be better if it was Primegreen with the raised logo and such. I had to commit Jersey crime by getting a Fanatics since the Adidas are so incredibly expensive now.
RR 2.0 looks best on the players with the full gear from head to toe. If you've got a RR 2.0 hat to match it definitely brings it all together more. I was lucky to find one on clearance at my local Lids recently.
My father got me a Nico fanatics heritage for Christmas last year. Just told him to get me a Devils jersey if anything and to be completely honest it looks super nice. Unlike the Fanatics home Jack I got as a graduation present haha!
My Daws Stadium Series jersey will always be a head-turner. So glad I got it for a steal through my season ticket holding friend.

@amagilegacy3335 The numbers definitely make it better. I think it is sorely missing red. The RR1's Adidas are insanely $$! They are super hard to find now too. I wish I had bought some to save. I do think the RR2's look better on the ice with full gear. I like the Heritage alot. It is really nice. Any SS jersey is going to turn heads. They are beautifulllllllll. I always like the stripe too. Sometimes I feel like things are changed just for the sake of change. LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
The "Jersey" jersey is horrible with all those stupid white stripes everywhere. They need to do a solid black jersey with the logo( in red or white)with no circle.

It's an homage to the 1928-29 Newark Bulldogs jersey. I think this is their best jersey, tbh. The NJ Devils logo is the best in sports, but I love the throwback to Newark and I think it looks pretty sick.

It would be better if the Bulldogs didn't rip off the 1920s Blackhawks uniforms to start with IMHO lol. That's on top of also paying homage to a team that really didn't play in Newark for all that long. (I say all of this as an owner of a Nemec JJ - but it's my least favorite).

Completely agree with #1 and #8 , The “Jersey” jersey is straight up ass. Devils have one of the best most iconic logo , why not throw it on a black jersey?, instead of that shitty cursive jersey font on it 🤦♂️

Great Video! Agree the black one gotta go. I think we should get an alternate with green. I like the old school white and green super clean. Recently got the Heritage it’s the only adidas jersey I got. After making a tough decision to retire my legendary Cory Schneider jersey, by far my favorite jersey. What did you think of Cory and whats your most sentimental jersey McKay?
@cyn_citrus Cory had a couple of great seasons here, behind terrible teams. If we got that type of goaltender play today, we would be a true Cup contender. The jerseys I showed were only a small portion of my collection. My most sentimental jersey is one of my 2003 Stanley Cup playoff/Cup Finals jerseys. I was at every home playoff game during that run, except for Game 1 against Boston.
@@runninwiththedevils agree he made the devils enjoyable in the dark years sad to see injuries and age catch up with him. It would be my dream come true if this team was able to have prime Cory! Would be so fired up for the season. Unfortunately my favorite player the past few years has been Holtz and he got take away, so I gotta start the healing process again. I’d say now it’s between Nemec and Nico hopefully neither leaves anytime soon.

@stikfigzz I just had high hopes. The black Starter is nearly perfect. With a few tweaks, I would have liked the JERSEY Jersey much more. More red, and a Devils logo(s) on the shoulders would have done wonders.

The black Jersey Jersey would be better with a logo (maybe a black and white version) otherwise i can't stand it, The #6 jersey with the retro colors from Colorado is the epitome of UGLY! Worst jersey ever! Being old school I love the original Red and Green (White and Green). It goes well with my Green Starter jacket. I do like the Stadium series Jersey. Its a shame they were so limited and even limited more in who's names you could get on them.
@Dirks_NUMA_Files Agree on the JERSEY jersey. Lots of people hated on the Rockies colored one. The Stadium Series jersey rollout will forever be one of the biggest disasters of all time.
Move 6 to 8 and 8 to 7 cause 6 jersey is terrible

I hate “jersey” jerseys . I wonder what the team stats are wearing them . Don’t recall many wins from zebras . Could be bad luck uniform . Dump it !

OG Green / Red / White. Bring em back. Get rid of Brodorks horrid ugly third. I wouldn't use that to change oil. Maybe on the bottom of a bird cage.
