Holy crap bud! I was expecting a couple hundred thousand subs for this level of production quality. You earned one more, just on the effort for this video alone.
TH-cam recommended this to me over here in Scotland. Great video and well produced and edited. 387th sub. Deffo prices in usa for used cars are insane. With the miles you guys do I would be going Japanese. Right choice taking it back.

You didn't ask for subscribers and/or Patreon subscriptions, you made genuine content and you filled this quarter-hour video with so much content, and I felt like I was watching a movie. Thank you for the entertainment and information David!
Good choice on returning that escape and very smart to have it inspected. My recommendation would be putting some of that $15k cash down on a lower mile Honda, Toyota, or Mazda. Might have a small short term payment but you’re going to get a way more quality car. Just my two cents from an auto industry dude. Great video!
This is truly one of the best videos I've come across from a smaller creator, you deserve a LOT more than 500 subscribers. I think you've made a good decision by returning the car. Excited to see what you get next.
I am glad you returned it. Way too many issues with the car, and once those are fixed more will come up. And yes you 100% overpaid. I am glad the return was easy. Its sad though that they sold you a car they clearly knew had issues.
Gotta say really high quality stuff with the editing and flow of the video, A few things I would say, Good decision on that return. Seems like it would Be more trouble than it was worth, If you have it in your area, I would recommend a real dealership or hertz auto sales, in my area they are seling off cars with low miles for good prices. I would skip carvana all together imo. Get one with a warranty still, avoid the 3 cylinder engines though.
Video production 10/10, honestly glad to see you return the car at the end do not know what kind of research you did before picking that car but 16k for a 10 year old Ford with 100k miles is crazy. I'd recommend going for something like a Mazda cx5, ones that are of a similar year and mileage should be way cheaper and more reliable. A SUV from Honda or Toyota would be great too, but they have gotten more expensive or the years and hard to find good value ones.
Solid advice. I used ChatGPT to check consumer reports and find different vehicles that fit the requirements of what I needed to do. Guess it was wrong
@@davidcartier The good thing is that you did not get stuck with it. Consumer reports is not a bad resource but always best to just lookup a car and read reviews from costumers on places like Reddit, Car Forums, or the comments on a review of that specific car. There is not such thing as a perfect car and even so called reliable brands like Toyota have issues buying a car means knowing the compromises and seeing if you are ok with them.
Amazing video, genuinely thought this was a million sub plus channel, but I can see it being that EASILY one day. I also recently returned a car I bought in the UK which was almost 120k miles and I also overpaid at first. The “one issue creating a domino effect” advice was solid, I’m glad we were both spared. I now have a similar car with half the miles and only one owner and paid a lot less for it! Patience is indeed a virtue. This was the easiest sub of my life and I can’t wait to follow your youtube journey!
haven’t gotten through the full video just yet but man for 15k they overpriced hella. But don’t think about something you could have done. be happy with your car great video so far man 😄🙂
Gonna be super honest man, you dodged a bullet with this one. These ford escapes are terribly unreliable. They have major engine and transmission issues all the time. If I were you, I would look at something like a Toyota Rav4 or Honda Crv if you still want to have a smaller 4WD suv. Sometimes they can be a little more expensive with outdated tech but they are so much more reliable. And if you want something with better tech and maybe a little cheaper look into Mazda CX-9. The reliability will be better than an escape but maybe not as good as a Honda or Toyota. Just avoid anything with a turbo engine pretty much as they are trouble makers for reliability. As far as Carvana goes, you will be paying a higher price than any other used car lot or new car store, but the fact that they will honor the 7 day return is great. I don’t think they inspect the vehicles too well though. Make sure you get a CARFAX and see how well the previous owners maintained the vehicle
Thanks for the advice! I’m going to look into that. The car fax was clean and said it was pretty well maintained. But yeah definitely leaning towards a Toyota or Honda
@@davidcartier Those cars are known for a slew of issues including the issues the shop found in your video. They are also known for head gasket issues. This is one of the vehicles I generally stay way far away from. I would recommend checking out a Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, or Outback for the next go around.
Brother you could get a 2020 with 85k miles or less for around 12k 💔💔 Video production & quality is amazing by the way especially the fact you added chapters
Huge issue with those escapes is the head gasket will fail and it causes the issue where they overheat just like yours. Best way to know is the coolant tank is empty under the hood.
I tried to sell my 2015 Silverado to them and the system never got back to me about it. So now I still have that truck plus my 2018 gmc. The dealer took forever on my gmc. Like 5 hours 😭
Yo my man I go to the gas station almost every day after school and grab myself a slushie hahah! I always thought about the cars and how some of them that they had parked out front were sick. It’s awesome u live in Roswell because not lots TH-camrs live down around here.

The price of that is insane! Here in the UK im sure you can get something like that car for about £6000 with much much lower mileage even from the big car supermarkets! Insane
Tough call. After getting all of the work done for free, I would've just done the thermostat and kept it. That's fairly cheap and easy, but I've been an auto tech for years. You still probably could've done it yourself for cheap.
Yeah but I literally had a friend who had a 2017 escape with similar issues they had sold to Carvana and I essentially had a Band-Aid fix for a much much bigger problem similar to what my car had an Annie mechanic get there 160 point inspection should’ve seen through this. I love the car. I love the convenience. I love their willingness and ability to fix it, but I really wasn’t looking for a fixer-upper, especially at that price point for a Ford.

This is true but you do get the 7 day return policy a 4000 something mile warranty a cool vending machine or they can deliver it right to your house. It’s super simple and nice to not have to argue with a car salesman. That at least was my logic for getting my car through them
how do you only have 800 subs? youtube never pushes channels like yours glad it did though i like supporting smaller channels, anyways thats expensive for a car with 100k miles on it.
He said that but I cut a lot of stuff out so it wasn’t as long. If you want me to make an extended cut of the inspection let me know! They were very thorough
@@davidcartier I paused at the dealership paper. I saw 1 tire and cringed, should always do pairs. If you have Awd it’s even more important. Pretty disappointing that they don’t do all the repairs before purchase, like overheating after you bought it is 💩

That's Carvana - they are always way way overpriced yet they still manage to lose money on every car they sell. They won't be around in probably 5 years. I was amazed they paid for all that work instead of saying well just give us the car back then. Then they didn't replace the thermostat which would have been a cheap and easy fix ESPECIALLY since they had to drain the coolant anyway .
How much is it to replace the thermostat? I’m kind of curious if it is beyond the thermostat and a much bigger issue that would’ve come out down the road
@@davidcartier Yea not sure what a shop would charge but the part itself is only like $25-30 and its very easy to change (especially with the coolant drained already). But yea that's assuming it's actually the thermostat and not something else.
Yeah shout out to North Roswell Auto for catching that. Do you think it was right for regal Nissan to not fix that or was it Carvana who denied covering it
@@davidcartier Tbh, Nissan had no diagnosis of the overheating being caused by the thermostat. The codes from the shop inspecting the car read out “Engine coolant Overtemperature condition” which mentions nothing about a thermostat. Tbh not even sure how the shop inspecting the car diagnosed that. I assume it’s common on these, but yet again, Nissan doesn’t know how the shop thought it was a thermostat.
It's waaaaaay better to just buy a gently used car thats a good brand from an individual than dealers because they are making profit on top of the actual value of the car. Overpaid
i see a car for more then i can make in 6 months and i sweat bullets and you got a ford escape may god have mercy on your soul because that ford likely won't those 2.0l ecoboosts aka terboed 2.0 are not renown for there longevity but the 2.0 is much much better then the smaller displacement engines that have heads crack when you go to remove a spark plug also the jeep likely had a bad pcm they really like to die on front wheel drive jeeps of that vintage mopar things and all. lol transmission codes yap that is a 2.0l
Thanks for the heads up, I hope this car lasts.. definitely check out the inspection part and the ending tho. Saved a lot of money for the car as well as at the end
Toyota had three wheels and engine was sideways and only had liability since it wasn’t worth much.. and wasn’t technically mine it was a family car. Toyotas we’re not really in my budget sadly I talked about it but cut it to make the vid shorter
@davidcartier with the 5k+ you got ripped off coulda just gotta 08 Tacoma and put liability on it. Save some cash on all of the future repairs.. that Fix Or Repair Daily is gonna need it... I mean even the ford pick ups from 98-03 are pretty damn good if you like Ford. But ehh to each their own. Off the carvana lot that things like 6-8 now? ...good thing you'll be big on TH-cam soon.
My mechanic is good. They caught everything and I’m considering posting an extended cut of the inspection. Another shop that partners with Carvana had to do their own inspection and the repairs and didn’t replace everything needed for some reason 10:30
bro ur paying like a fcking m3 bwm 2021 price for a shitbox bro i wonder how did u survive all this years. well i assume u did for video but u wouldnt be that happy as it now if they didnt accept to return it back such a dumb idea ı have ever seen
I know a lot of people that have gotten used cars that were well taken care of. The car itself was pretty clean the mechanic even said so himself but the main issues such as the thermostat and a couple other things shouldve been caught in their "160 point inspection" I am not at expecting a perfect car since its used at all but it at least shouldnt blow up on me or overheat due to undiagnosed issues

i see a car for more then i can make in 6 months and i sweat bullets and you got a ford escape may god have mercy on your soul because that ford likely won't those 2.0l ecoboosts aka terboed 2.0 are not renown for there longevity but the 2.0 is much much better then the smaller displacement engines that have heads crack when you go to remove a spark plug also the jeep likely had a bad pcm they really like to die on front wheel drive jeeps of that vintage mopar things and all.
lol transmission codes yap that is a 2.0l
Thanks for the heads up, I hope this car lasts.. definitely check out the inspection part and the ending tho. Saved a lot of money for the car as well as at the end
Did you buy and return a car for content? Yikes
Did you watch the video my guy?
YOU BOUGHT A LEMON
nah fr tho
do you think I got unlucky or that Carvana sells busted cars?
Listen to Killing Me Softly because Ford's kill you Softly lmfao
im dying bro 😂
You had a Toyota, and got a ford?... Yea ok.
Get a new mechanic also lol
My mechanic is good. They caught everything and I’m considering posting an extended cut of the inspection. Another shop that partners with Carvana had to do their own inspection and the repairs and didn’t replace everything needed for some reason 10:30
bro ur paying like a fcking m3 bwm 2021 price for a shitbox bro i wonder how did u survive all this years. well i assume u did for video but u wouldnt be that happy as it now if they didnt accept to return it back such a dumb idea ı have ever seen
Appreciate the engagement man
that car worth 5k
tops lol
Car market is crazy here sadly
@@davidcartier buy like a car in cheap state drive backk is what i do with motorycles hhere
Idiot Buys a used car with 108k and expects it to have no Problems 👍 just go get a new car if you are like that
I know a lot of people that have gotten used cars that were well taken care of.
