I feel you! I'm not gonna buy it, not now anyway. If you want the sound you better get the plugin, but this one I won't buy now either. Maybe later when they ask the prize that it's actually worth. It's ridiculous how they screw us over. As you said: no respect! They don't care for their customers! They are just milking the cow.

I have the lion and the ruby. I will agree that the uafx app and Bluetooth is very finicky. Which, if you're paying $500 for a pedal it should work better. It does work, you may have to try a couple times but it does work

Oh man, I wanted to buy the new Anti pedal. I just want a pedal that I can use live that has the same sound I use on my recordings. Do you know if these UA amp pedals come with a plugin? And let's say I dial in a few different tones on my album, is it easy to load 5 or 6 tones onto the pedal and switch between them?

    • @QuestForGear
      @QuestForGear  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

They are all great pedals - useable live, just don't count on the BT App to work. Or maybe you get lucky and it does - some phones are fine. They don't come with a plugin at all. (Though for the price they should). The Dream, Ruby and Lion plugins were only just announced a few weeks back. The Anti and Knuckles plugins are sure to follow - they will want to sell pedals first, release the plugins second. (is it easy to load 5 or 6 tones) - no, the app sucks. You pretty much much have to bend down and set the pedal live. THE APP SUCKS !!!

@@QuestForGear Thanks for responding my dude. So, are you saying you have to buy the plugins separately when they eventually come out? The plugins were a welcomed surprise that only just released a few weeks back. I currently own NONE of these pedals but I might consider buying the plugins for studio use,so I was glad to see them announced. I wish they came bundled with the pedals too - lots of people are saying this as well. Maybe the Blue Tooth and App will work for your phone, but other wise - you'll have to set the pedal manually, or - you can save 1 preset... which will let you switch between - the manual settings - and that preset.

What a bummer. Seems hit or miss for some. I never had update issues or a Bluetooth issues with mine. Incredible pedal. After A/B testing it into power amp with same two cabs I use with my Grand Amps 50 watt Plexi clone, the Lion 68 was close enough that I don’t need to use my Plexi clone + Fryette PS2A anymore. One a more positive note for you - I A/B tested my Lion 68 against a Kourbis Plexivibe tube preamp pedal and was able to match sounds. The Plexivibe includes the phase inverter which can be driven by the preamp output and sound like a big full Plexi. It’s analog, has two 12ax7’s, is mono only, but a lot of tiny rocker switches add a lot of options (on the sides of the pedal), takes a full IEC power cord and drives proper voltage to the tubes. You can alway add a Two Notes CAB M+ and get your cab sims (plus the CAB M+ has power amp modeling with 4 tube types and can also be driven on the power tubes - I wouldn’t drive them with the Plexivibe as it doesn’t need it, but might add a little bit more full Plexi effect). I ran my Lion 68 into clean power amp and same cabs as the Plexivibe. I put the Lion 68 in 4 cable method with the Plexivibe so I could instant switch between the two even while a chord was still ringing out, and got it to where you couldn’t tell which was which as I switched. The Plexivibe is the Treble channel of a Plexi. It’s Gain knob is like the Treble channel volume, it’s Volume knob is like a Master volume (turn it up and it saturates and compresses like turning up the Master Volume of a two hole JMP Plexi, and the Master knob controls the pedal’s actual output. Treble Middle Bass controls and a toggle for high or low gain structure (like the high or low input jacks on a two hole JMP). No updates to do, no app to connect to since it’s all analog. No need for a Marshall SV20 that needs an attenuator to control volumes at home levels. The Plexivibe pedal will get those SV20 sounds on its own. Hand built in Greece by Kourbis Amps. Like I said - I A/B’ed the Lion 68 against my full tube Plexi, but also against the Plexivibe, and all three can sound the same with same cabs. A used CAB M+ from Two Notes paired with Plexivibe and you’ll be back to all the cab sim options plus more. Much smaller than an SV20 too.

I have tons of bluetooth devices from 6+ years ago, and even longer (esp32 from 2017 for example), that connect to my brand new devices just fine. I don't think bluetooth itself is the problem here, so much as their implementation of the pairing logic combined with the app not checking on a loop to see whether the thing is connected or not.
Not that you should have to do this, and you probably just shouldn't do this, however as a tinkerer, I'm wondering what the experience would be plugging your pedals into a raspberry pi, using usb over network to pass them through to your pc (or maybe even phone if the app supports usb.)
Hopefully they get this sorted. It seems like an insanely easy issue to get right, and I'm a bit impressed that they managed to screw up something implemented flawlessly by so many other manufacturers.

They've messed this up somewhere along the line. The last thing like it I tried was a Fender Mustang GTX100 and I had no issue. And my Tascam Model 24 blue tooth connects so well - that it connects when I don't want it to - everytime I walk in the house. And the App 'whiteing out' while I'm using it is rediculous.... I've tested this on multiple Androids. Check the UAFX iPhone app - it has a 2.2 star review at this point.

I was optimistic when they released the first few, saying wow, UA Is going to make quality. Once they started releasing all the different amp simulation ones, and the del verb etc, it is just the same thing as selling lures to fisherman by look and not functionality. Yeah, at one point I had the Golden, Starlight, Astra and Dream 65. A year later, I'm down to just the Dream. They all sound great, but they were originally sold with this vague promise that they'd be a continuously updated platform. Obviously that plan changed at some point, because in the time since they released them that USB port has literally only been used for a bluetooth fix that didn't really fix anything, and they've just been pumping loads of other pedals with the same algorithms onto the market rather than adding new algorithms to existing pedals. If you confront UA about this, they'll basically imply you're a food for buying something in the hopes it'd get better rather than for what it is. Fair enough then, but you've taught me a lesson about your company I won't forget.

UA designed the pedal so you have to go that route to access any presets or settings to change what the buttons
do. I would have been happy with no blue tooth and no presets... or simply saving one preset. They could
have chopped $100 of the price of this thing. You have to connect this thing to the internet at the get go
to access a 'bonus' 3 speakers... that's the carrot to make a user want to get this thing registered and online.
You could ignore the USB and Blutooth - but you'd be abandoning features you paid for in the price of the pedal.
The main issue for me here is THEY KNOW this is a problem - but just keep putting out more pedals with the problem
      - and firmware fixes that don't solve it. The iPhone app has a 1 star review and I've tried 3 Android phones -
      same issues on each.
