Impressive! It's not often you see high school juniors putting it to credentialed athletes of the caliber of Andonian and Lewan at the mid-upper weight classes.
Why is it that 99% of USA wrestlers don’t have any parterre skills. None of them ever try to score. This is why we do so bad on the world stage, that and we don’t wrestle anywhere near as much as we should
I'll agree with you on the lack of parterre skills. Freestyle parterre requires a lot of strength for gut wrenches or feet to back throws, as well as quickness, finesse and floor awareness for leg laces. I've noticed American wrestlers trying to win at freestyle with almost exclusively folkstyle skills. Parterre takes a lot of energy, so they try to conserve it to use on takedowns. This sometimes works, but there's always an international freestyler who is very hard to take down and has great parterre skills, like the Japanese and Russian wrestlers. The prototypical freestyler is a very different person than the prototypical folkstyler. Which us why folkstyle excellence does not guarantee freestyle gold. On the amount of wrestling, I think Americans have the edge, which is why they have gas in the tank while many international wrestlers are spent with 1+ minutes left. It also helps that they conserve energy by rarely trying a gut wrench.
@@ahernandez9621 I believe the USA wrestlers have such great stamina is because they all train at cutting edge regional facilities. But in the last decade or so we haven’t wrestled enough to even be ranked when it comes to the men anyways. I really believe they need to wrestle more internationally. Some of our guys went to the Olympics with only a handful of international matches in a year. That just seems crazy to me
Yeah I have no idea. Only thing I could think of was when Andonian tried the crotch lock is that he exposed for too long and they called a pin late. I’m not super familiar with freestyle but I know a good amount about it. Thats my only guess? The audio is so off too so it’s hard to tell

P.J. Duke is very very good. He pretty much scored at will and gave up very few points. Peace
This guy is a beast can definitely see him winning multiple NCAA championships
I believe 4 timer
Freaking Hammer!!
Threw All of them down. He'll be a future 4 time champ

6:55 Down goes the Scoreboard!!
How is the sound like 10 seconds off? Is this happening during the actual live stream?
5:50 10 to 2???
That's not a superior technical.

Yeah sounds like around 5:44 they call the pin maybe? But I’m not too sure
Or 5:50
I would love to see the NCAA get rid of Folk and go all in with Freestyle.
