    I left the motor in to change the pinion.... but I needed a micro blowtorch to get the grub screw out of the pinion and to get the pinion off the motor shaft.. Arrma used far to much threadlock.. lol..
    I think your method is easier to set the mesh...
    I enjoyed the upload :-)

      Thanks it much easier to work on than the Nero, this should have taken 10-15mins. Pinion gear took nearly double that to remove - red stud locker used to put it on - very hard to remove. Hoping others don't have the same problem - suspect I was unlucky.

    • @CASTRO45ACP
      @CASTRO45ACP 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was unlucky too, my grub screw cracked after I heated it to help with the red loctite, even after I finally got the grub screw off the pinion was being a bitch but I used a big flat head screwdriver and some heat to pry it off.

    I'm new to rc myself and I'm having to call my hobby shop to confirm the right thread lock or lock tight I agree to his thoughts, do I get lock tight or what?

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy to help - basically the red colored stuff is a more permanent lock e.g. much harder to undo than the blue color is. Wherever possible I use the blue. The thing is to allow it plenty of time to dry. I allow at least an hour but some will say that's overkill. Often though I put it on late at night and leave it to set overnight but I'm sure there's no need to leave it that long at all.

  • @PFinkoloTL87
    @PFinkoloTL87 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thx for the tutorial. But I didn't even get close to the pinion. Using the hex provided by arrma I ruined the screw head with one movement (motor mount underneath the chassis) . I am not new to tools but: wow. What to do now? :( screws are made of butter

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do know what you mean about the screws, I've not been able to test my senton on the speed gearing as one screw won't come out the chassis! For stuck hex screws I've a mini metal cutting disc I fit to my dremel, I then cut a slot in the top of the hex screw and use a flat bladed screwdriver to undo it. I appreciate this may mean buying a dremel etc but that said it's my go to tool for so many RC jobs. Hope that helps.

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eddy you may need to use heat, like from a gas hob! They use RED Loctite on the pinion and on a lot of these cars they seem to have used way too much. heat and lever firmly off.

    What did you do to get the pinion off the shaft with the red lock on the the shaft??? I'm having a hell of a time

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah! I hate to say it but I am so glad I am not alone - I did not higlight this in the video as I thought 'unlucky just my car'. In the end I used a 7mm wheel nut spanner (You know that one that comes with every RC car ever sold - In saying that I'm hoping it's not your first RC!). Place it over the pinion gear get a hammer (I used a large rubber one but a small ball pane one would do- nothing excessive) tap it down. Use large flat bladed screwdriver to lever it back up - BUT keep turning it around as you do so, so as not to put too much pressure on shaft e.g don't use so much force as to bend shaft. After two -ups/downs I was able to pull it off with pliers. I'm now going to feedback to arrma this is an issue. Thought it was just mine. I'll amend description to reflect how hard it is to remove. You can understand I thought I was just unlucky.

    • @Wilsonc263
      @Wilsonc263 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sweet deal thanks for the info. This is not my first RC lol. I have plenty of them haha. Few guys on arrma mods facebook ground said applying heat to the pinion and shaft (beutane torch, lighter, heat gun, flame soldering iron) would break the locktight loose on it and slip right off like it should will do the trick. Thanks a bunch.

    • @Wilsonc263
      @Wilsonc263 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats insane. Now im struggling to get the wheels off. Few guys on facebook said they put a heat gun do the wheel to soften it a little and pulled it off. Once it cooled took a dremel to it to make it easier to remove.

    Which threadlock do you use??

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use blue not red. Arrma use red on some places in these cars and it's a NIGHTMARE to remove (hot air gun needed etc). So use blue which is fine for most jobs on electric RC's

    You said it will need threadlock on it, not loctite. Isn't loctite a threadlock? Blue being the prefered color for RC.

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed you can buy loctite in blue or red, I referred to it in the commonly known terms, Blue used in video. All comments welcome but google search pulls up threadlocker in red. Really are we arguing about the color???? As you seem to know more about the specific type please post link to your own video. Happy to share it. Apologies if I got it wrong...

    • @xplatinum

      I'm sorry if you took it in a bad way. My comment was in no way meant to be taken as criticism. I'm fairly new to RC and I've been reading that Loctite was a threadlocker. Your video cast a doubt and I wanted to double-check with you. Again, sorry.
