Thanks' Leon! I continue to saw wood with my Dad's Homelite 360 Automatic. Reliable workhorse for a part-timer, even to this day. My Dad always cared for his saw. Might have to ping you in the future about parts and such. (Sentimental Value) Saw has good power and a pleasure to run throughout the decades. Appreciate your contribution to youtube content!

That was very helpful. I have partial saws that I wasn't planning to try to restore. I cleaned up several bone yard saws, for parts. The pistons of two looked bad.
I dug out my Grandfathers oldest saw that I encouraged to pop off and barely run...more than 20 years ago. I did a lot more work to this saw that I thought.
I was looking through my service notes and was surprised to read that I had replaced/swapped the engine out. I do not recall doing this lol
I have learned a bit, since then; thank you Leon. This old saw may yet run again, and if I can change the piston and cylinder on one other that is near complete......
I will need to sell a couple of my XL-12's, to afford parts and tools to fix the rest ;-)

Great video! I'm hoping to do the same to my XL next week. Need to find a piston, maybe a cylinder.

I have dedicated piece of wood for these stubborn wrist pins with a hole drilled in it rather than straddling it between 2 boards

Have the exact same model in nice shape that has a weak ignition and needs a carb rebuild, nobody in my area works on them older saws no more because of parts availability

Hello! I need help, by tapping he takes out pulleys to remove the disc from the electromagnet. I have bent the thread a little and now the nut doesn't fit. Do you know what type of thread it is? I have bought standard and fine Whitworth dies and they don't work, I think the Whitworth ones don't have the same thread pitch, thanks in advance.
    A greeting from Spain!

What about the nameplate off the old handle? Do you fasten it to the saw somewhere?

Hey Leon when you clean the saws besides the garden hose do you use anything else? I find gas and brush works well but dries out pain so have to rub saw down with oil to restore the shine

Try turning it with plug removed, if it's hydro-locked on the top end that should free it up, more likely it's mechanically damaged, Gonna have to tear it down.

I would have dropped that piston in hot water before hammering.
