I do like how they kept jackson inside. He was realy struggling with his fathers shadow and he was also realy cocky about being the best. He got a good share of humbleness during his plain clothes day
I definitely think they do his character dirty in this first season. He is such a heel for so many plot lines for no reason other than him wanting to be a cop his whole life 🤣 they did write him in as an arrogant brat

Not in a million years 🤣 those detective units work hand in hand with patrol to close out or work on cases, they are not part of the same chain of command and have very different objectives while at work.
Can you guys react to Bosch? It’s more oriented around homicide detectives rather than patrol but I find it to be one of the better cops shows with a good amount of realism. It’s a pretty well written well acted cop show.
@@OnlyCops that would be awesome, it’s a pretty underrated and lesser known show but still very good! It’d be cool to hear insight on how realistic or fake a lot of the cases are. One thing I should mention. Each season covers multiple cases as they develop simultaneously and it’s not like law and order or something where they find the bad guy by the end of an episode. It shows a lot of actual detective work (with some nonsensical action sprinkled in to keep it entertaining).
Something I will never understand is, LAPD is very clear how to report a shooting on radio. "7 Adams 18, shots fired, officers need help." Then give the location. You don't call backup code 3, that is very redundant sometimes they will also verbally request an Airship and a sergeant which is also redundant In the episode where officer Bradford is shot, the first season, Lucy Chen puts out the call exactly how it is supposed to be. Then she adds "please send help right away" No real life rookie would make that mistake.
A rookie might, but they should get make fun of for it 🤣 Radio etiquette is often not taught in Academy, so it's something your FTO teaches you, but it takes time to figure it out
I really Like theses guy's input, the ONLY thing that makes me wanna use the "It is a tv show" Card on them is the radio chatter stuff ONLY because that would add like a million pages to the script
For the peeping tom scene, I cant remember the case, but I'm pretty positive there is legal precident for headlong flight at the sight of police being PC for at least detainment, even with no other indication of a crime yet occuring. Dude clearly looked at her when she sounded her siren, and the proceeded to run when he was previously stationary before he became aware of police presence, so I think it could be articulated against any claim of impromptu cardio. And between the siren/lights and her calling over the PA for him to stop while he continued to flee, she should have resisting pretty easy. That being said, I get the feeling door checking isnt a part of the standard LAPD use of force matrix 😂
I totally get the detainment portion to at least get the details of whether or not it would fit the elements of the offense. I don't know that unprovoked flight would be enough, but I always errored on the side of "if it's too big of a stretch, you don't have it"
It seems to vary by department. At my department, the FTO (Sgt) forgot it was my "shadow phase" so he took off all of his hear and turned his tee shirt inside out and put on his gun and jumped in the passenger side.
Naw you have to understand the reason on why Lucy even arrested that guy. Yes, peeping tom laws exist and that covers the act of video taping someone changing which, is a crime of itself regardless. That is what the guy did and worse still, the woman was a teen, a literal underaged person. That's 2 crimes in one where he's invasion of someone's modesty and also pedophilia. Also, yes, Lucy smacking the door on him was abit harsh considering he wasn't of any major bodily threat to herself nor Tim but here's the thing... He resisted arrest cuz Lucy did use the loudhailer to announce that they're the police and instead of stopping, he bolted. He already attempted to flee and resisted arrest so that's one way to stop a fleeing felon. Not orthodox but again, in some PD, not punishable cuz he ran away from the cops. Unless the guy stood still and Lucy doorslammed him then that's a punishable offence but if he flees, no.
I agree that the changes for the peeping Tom part and her being underage wouldstick, I stand by arguing that Chen's use of force was unreasonable and would (if this was real life) would have led to discipline for misconduct
@@OnlyCops Not really. Again, if he didn't flee from them, sure. Chen would definitely be marked for repremandation like the one on how she threatened a civilian but for this, it's different. The guy ran when she announced that they're the cops. That gives a blanket authority to find ways to stop a fleeing felon. It's almost the same kind of judgement as pouncing on a suspect from a dead run but it's with a car door. Again, yes, dangerous and unorthodox but it's not a straight up punishable offence as, again, suspect fled. Seen such things happen before with Arizona State Police and even THP where suspects went on a speedy chase, fled from their vehicle and as cops can't dismount quick enough, just went forward and smacked the suspects with their door whilst still moving before stopping, dismount and arrest the suspects. So no, not all the time it would lead to a disciplinary. It's only when it comes to circumstances and for this case, again, abit stronghanded but warranted so Lucy actually got reasons to use the door this way.
@@OnlyCops Plus even if the guy sues, he's getting his case tossed right out the window cuz what he did when the cops arrived was already a criminal offence for one.

Not sure the theory of where the police are is where crime doesn't happen always works. I was working at a shop in the UK whilst police were taking a statement from me and we had a Shoplifter come in, assault a member of staff and steal from the shop right in front of the police officer who promptly stopped him and nicked him.
@@OnlyCops fair play. You know you should review some UK based police stuff and do a comparison between American and British policing. Try a documentary called Police Interceptors from Channel 5 UK. With the motel situation, they have to come out at some point, so why potentially force a barricaded suspect situation? I have no law enforcement experience, apart from stories from like half a dozen family members who have served, including an uncle in a warzone, so please correct me if I'm way off, but it just seems obvious.
It all depends on the expectation of privacy based on where the changing is happening. If it's in the middle of the street there is none, in your house behind blinds, a lot

@@OnlyCops Well there could a be a friendly mayor involved.Haven't you guys watched Dirty Harry?? 😁
Can’t wait to see true crime episode and Real crime episode
I'm sure it will be coming soon 😅
Also, Ms. Chen with fourth amendment violation looking into his phone without a warrant. What was the exigency?
No kidding
Wouldn’t Nolan’s FTO at least get a command discipline for dereliction of duty?
Yes, or at least they should
Loving it! Great breakdowns lol
I'm glad thanks fam!
If you haven't played it, you should do let's play of LA Noire
We will add it to the list!
What a game but it’s single player
I'm curious how a car that turns over has a dead battery....
🤣🤣🤣🤣 agreed, maybe a bad starter, but not a dead battery lol
Not sure the theory of where the police are is where crime doesn't happen always works. I was working at a shop in the UK whilst police were taking a statement from me and we had a Shoplifter come in, assault a member of staff and steal from the shop right in front of the police officer who promptly stopped him and nicked him.
Nothing is 100%, but there was a decent amount of academic research behind crime displacement theory
@@OnlyCops fair play. You know you should review some UK based police stuff and do a comparison between American and British policing. Try a documentary called Police Interceptors from Channel 5 UK. I think that it would be an interesting idea because I'm guessing that there's a huge difference between the two not just because of firearms. You can even see if Ben Pearson would come on with you as he's a TH-cam personality now but a former British Police Officer
@@CputtockDthomsonBlue Lights could be an interesting reaction too. Although it takes place in Belfast and it's a different reality from the rest of the UK.
Funnily enough, as a police officer in southern Brazil I found this to be more relatable than american shows.
9:42 how in the hell can you use 2hrs to change a battery ?? Are the people mentally challenged at the LPD???? Even going out and buying a new battery shouldn't take 2hrs
Can the guy just come walking in and demand to use her Rookie for whatever purpose he want, shouldn't he need to go higher up on the food chain getting green light for that??
Also. Wouldn't that be helping the lawyer for the other team? If he find out a rookie has done the evidence???
Seem so wrong since he is suppose to get field training in Undercover/plainclothes work?
(Remind of heartbreak ridge. When highway get criticized for actually training his men for battle.Instead of letting them walk around unprepared )
15:35 shouldn't he have his weapon out at that point????? 2 possibly armed thugs are beating up another guy,and he runs in head first. What was the plan?? Yelling Surprise!! were from jehovah witness,do you have a minute?(Ok that was unfair.Everyone would run if he said that)But still running around in a warehouse/factory looking for suspect.Alone.Seem kinda dumb.
17:05 Seem kind of weird thing to do. IF the suspect now got away, and managed to kill or rape someone. Wouldn't that go back on the department? And since shit floats downward kind of fast, wouldn't it affect both their career`?? I mean if he in court says something like Yeaah. RBF overthere saw me get up and runaway but she didn't do anything to stop me.
47:48 I would've shot him.Just for being an asshole
These are all valid points 🤣 Especially the last one 😁
@@OnlyCops Thank you. Watching this I could probably make a fortune teaching them how to change a battery. "Step one..Open hood....."
Wouldn't the dog complaint count as animal cruelty?
It depends on the state and elements of the offense, but it definitely could in certain situations
With the motel situation, they have to come out at some point, so why potentially force a barricaded suspect situation?
I have no law enforcement experience, apart from stories from like half a dozen family members who have served, including an uncle in a warzone, so please correct me if I'm way off, but it just seems obvious.
That is also a great tactic!
@@OnlyCops I think I recently saw bodycam of that exact situation, probably why it was on my mind
I have idea for video reaction what could be interesting, UK vs USA police officer
That would be interesting!
How interesting.

Can you do Season 1 Episode 16: Greenlight
It should go live next week!
hey can you react to the one with jackston and stanton
Do you have a specific episode and season number?
@@OnlyCops There a few good epsode with jackson and stanton but one I was thinking about was season 3 epsoide 5 called lockdown
We are trying to record more episodes to get to season 3 faster!
What if the women is a minor
Wouldnt that be recording a minor without a parents content
Them being a minot does make it different, with or without the parents involvement
The rookie is sp far from reality it's cringe....team Southland
Southland is an absolute gem 😁
Wait its not illegal to film a women getting dressed? Is it just me or is that kinda fucked up
It all depends on the expectation of privacy based on where the changing is happening. If it's in the middle of the street there is none, in your house behind blinds, a lot
I love these videos!
I am a true crime nut and ,(before I had kids) wanted to become an officer. I would love your take on this documentary video from Explore with Us!
th-cam.com/video/zOh7QmL8bVQ/w-d-xo.html
Even just the first 15 minutes!
Thank you for the kind comment and suggestions 😊 I also personally LOVE the come explore with us channel 😊 I have been subbed for years!
You say it's not realistic to not leverage deadly force. But unarmed police forces all around the world manage it every day.
American officers arrest people without pulling their guns all the time, the issue I have is them tasing people who have guns in their hands or OCing a dude with a knife. Even in European PDs you would avoid approaching such an armed person without the lethal option officer on their way.
love your videos pls make more videos about the rookie ❤❤❤❤
edit- pin pls
We just filmed a bunch more!
