KEVIN GORE i fainted several times so yea i guess you could say it was a special moment. what made 7 so much more special then other ff games was its story and characters, and at the time the size of the game. Sephiroth (ahhh sephiroth music plahing in my head) and, cloud are probably the two 2 badest mofos to ever exist in all of gameing. It's still today debated as the greatest game of all time. It was a very very special game for its time. Theres never been another ff game thats even come close to matching it or even being near its shadow. Its truly a one of a kind game. And a must play to new gamers today to understand what true story telling and character development is and how most games have lost their touch since back then.

Charlie Angel Well, Nomura was just recently interviewed as saying they are trying to keep all the original staff to male this game, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. FF XV shows they really are pressing hard to keep the fans happy now. Whether that is their passion themselves or learned humility, it just means better stuff for us.

Nothing Sony showed will come out this year, and the biggest games they announced are not even exclusive. The FF7 Remaster is only a timed exclusive, the COD exclusivity was super disappointing for any hardcore gamers, and the Shenmue 3 kickstarter announcement was just a total joke.
I honestly don't understand how 'Sony won E3'. Microsoft announced lots of new features which Sony didn't; the new controller, Hololens, Windows 10 compatibility, VR partnerships, FALLOUT MODS, EA Access, Xbox Preview and backwards compatibility. All of that made it seem like Microsoft are really trying hard to make Xbox One the best overall gaming platform available. Microsoft also showed lots of games which are actually coming this year, such as Halo and Rare Replay. On the other hand, Sony's big hitters were Uncharted and The Last Guardian which, although look to be good games, are coming next year. Lots of people are talking about FF7 Remake but that isn't Playstation exclusive and, lets be honest, is just another remaster in a generation of remasters. In fact, half the conference was showing of multi-platform games; Batman, CoD, AC Syndicate, FF7, Destiny, Star Wars, Hitman and Disney Infinity. Overall, I was actually rather disappointed with Sony's conference tbh.

I have both consoles, play the PS4 way more, and I thought "Man that's awesome, that gives me some cool features on my X1" but realistically, How often am I gonna use it? 1. There's only like 20 something games on it now, supposed to have 100 by holidays though 2. It's up to the Devs if the game can be BC... so any game getting remastered, which will probably be most of the ones that people would want, probably won't get approved by the devs if they are making a remake. 3. I'm sure I've read hundreds of "I didn't buy a new console to play old games" comments. Weird that now BC is supposed to be one fo the best features we've ever got.

The only thing i can think why they didn't do much on the Morpheus is so they have something to show at PlayStation Experience 2015. Hype the thing up like crazy and say 'one more thing, this is available mid February, look out for more reveals in the coming weeks'
Unfortunately for me, The Last Guardian was a bit underwhelming. It looked amazing years ago, when it was originally revealed. The time it spent in development hell has kind of dulled my expectations...especially seeing what little progress it's seemingly made over such a long period of time. I was waiting for that "wow" moment, and it just never came.

I noticed a thing or two during No Man's Sky: as he broke down the enviornment you saw him collecting materials that were identified by elements, and as he went to his beacon and "uploaded" his info, he had credits deposited into his account of some kind. I'm assuming there's a crafting and trading system and a player driven economy somewhere in the background. Obviously it's not much to go off of, but it's something.
About the Morpheus thing, there could be a number of reason why they talk about it more: Hard to demo VR to people watching a stream Not ready yet Don't want to be taking too much time on it (Wonderbook flashbacks) But while you figure E3 is the best possible way to show it, is everyone already forgetting they could go all out at their own event at PlayStation Experience later this year? Would be a closer to the release window than E3 and you could showcase even more of your own stuff without certain restrictions. It's probably going to get much more time at PlayStation Experience
Going by the general view of most gaming sites, Microsoft can win E3 next year by announcing Half Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Banjo 3 & Conker 2. They don't need release dates within 12 months, new gameplay or to even be in production. Just announce titles people want and you win.
The thing is, at this moment Sony doesn't have anything for this year. All the exclusives they showed are for next year or don't even have a date. I think Colin tweeted something like this but, Sony needs to make a move. They've been too confortable on the leading spot and not really doing anything to stay there. COREY M I know im likely in the minority here, but I dont like Fallout (i cant take it seriously). Luckily Tomb Raider came with an Xbox I bought, else I never would have played it. If it gets good reviews, I would much rather pick up tomb raider. on a different note, I watch them live Last Night... I honestly feel the 3 of them are to caught up in Nostalgia and their past with Sony to see that Sonys conferences was rather boring and a bit hypocritical with them turning the ps4 into a cable box. ...All about the Gamer... and CNN. Other than Horizon, they dont have anything that interests me. The only way I could think of agreeing with colin is if I cared about final fantasy or the last guardian.
Timed exclusives and a PS3 launch title doesn't win E3. Microsoft had ingenuity, Windows 10 compatibility is potentially huge, Holo lens was truly awe inspiring, backwards compatibility is a very smart move. Sony don't deserve points for a long overdue game, which sadly isn't of PS4 quality at all. Uncharted 4 is obviously of the highest quality but Halo 5, Gears 4 and Tomb Raider, while not individually as good as Uncharted (IMO) collectively have it beat. Final Fantasy is a timed exclusive, as are Fallout 4 PC mods for consoles (Supposedly coming to PS4 also I heard) so neither get points, even if they did cancel each other out. I also refuse to give points to new IPs, being 'unproven' (The Order 1886 is a prime example why not to)
It was more of the shock factor that "won them E3." Everyone had given up hope on The Last Guardian but it came out whereas Tomb Raider, Gears or War and Halo were expected to be shown.
I think the biggest problem with the conference was pacing. They announced Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VII, Shenmue and Horizon all in the first half of the show and then went to the third parties. Had they held just one back to play after the Uncharted demo then it would have been received even better. Despite that it was still the best conference in my opinion. I get why people think Microsoft was better but for "holy shit, this is actually happening" moments I think Sony just edged it. Microsoft had backwards compat. and the Hololens part but Sony had 3 just in the 20 minutes. And that Uncharted demo, oh man.
I totally agree with what Greg said at the end about who won. Most of the games of Sony didn't get me excited because they aren't my type of games. My friend and I got into a heated debate over who won because of this. I liked MS this year a lot more. But to each his own. It all boils down to what type of gamer you are.
im already totally sold on dreams, to me it looks like an animation tool and thats great. just think of all the amazing creative animations we are gonna see on it and i cant wait to try and make my own. im hoping they get licence stuff like LBP did too like ghostbusters props etc. dreams and no mans sky are the games i want the most.
Shenmue is a game I was always aware of, but never got to play back when. However, I feel like Shenmue 3 (pretty cool they met their financial goal so quickly by the way) isn't going to be very relevant if we don't have practical access to the prior games. EDIT: On No Man's Sky, totally agree with Greg. But I felt like that guy was nervous and had very little time too. No Man's Sky is still up in the air for me.

Sony won in terms of "hype". But realistically, Microsoft has games coming out soon. It just felt like Sony is pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, because they don't have much STILL coming out in 2015 despite being 2 years on the market. But it makes sense that you guys think Sony "won" considering your disposition.

I personally think Microsoft won e3 by fair by having all complete backwards compatibility and that the game are mostly exclusive in the Sony conference they just showed timed exclusives or map packs first like final fantasy 7 timed exclusive
Morpheus is not going to work with any of the gorgeous looking games on PS4, the hardware just doesn't allow it (even with an additional hardware boost). It's the same with Microsoft and likely Rift/Vive support for the Xbox One, we won't get anything that can't run at really high frame rates to begin with. It's purely a technical thing.
I agree... I don't think VR is really designed for this console generation. I guess right now, they're testing the waters. And maybe that's a good thing. A technology like this should have time to evolve. I tried it (the occulus) and I think there are many problems to solve and I don't expect VR to be this mass market thing until 2020 or so...
The Morpheus has one advantage over occulus in terms of frame rate in that it only has one 1080p screen(easier to get higher frame rates, might look slightly not as sharp) while occulus has two 1080x1200 screens. This is why it takes insane hardware to run the rift properly. Really vr isn't going to have great looking games for a few years still even on PC, but that's fine as the immersion that comes from the rift makes even shitty looking games feel more real
You thought Uncharted was a "Flat Demo" really, i'll be honest, for me Uncharted saved Sony's press conference, it was pretty dull, For 83 minutes I was watching announcement after announcement, some with gameplay, some without, Horizon looked interesting but other then that I was trying to fight the urge to nod off... then Uncharted happened, even with the glitch at the beginning it was the best 7 minutes of the Sony's conference, I thought this was head and shoulders above the first gameplay we saw months ago even though that was great it didn't have the uncharted flair, it was all exploration and gun play but this demo we got the wise cracking, not taking anything serious Drake... and the quips that came from sully were pure gold, as I said for me this saved Sony's conference.
I'm really blown away that people are even considering Sony as "winning." Last of Us, Uncharted, No Man's Sky, Horizon, Dreams are the only exclusives for Sony and all of them are coming sometime "later". The big gun of FF7 is not exclusive. halo, rare collection, fable legends, Forza, gears, tomb raider, gigantic, are all exclusives for MSoft releasing THIS YEAR! to me the two are not even close

I love how, based on where they jumped into the Shenmue Kickstarter, I can draw a chronological line between when all the videos I've watched today were recorded.
Both Sony and Microsoft had good press conferences but Sony won. Their conference held your attention with the announcements of games with interesting demos. Microsoft talked more about their tech and some demos were slow. In terms of which company will have better exclusives this year, there is no contest since Sony has barely any games releasing. But that has nothing to do with who had a better conference. So Sony had a better conference but Microsoft is in a better position with more games this year and better potential for future conference surprises.
Both MS and Sony get a 10/10 (IMO) The highlights from sony was Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted 4 (But i'm not a Ucharted Fan) but it looks cool. That last guardian demo was boring , and i don't care about FF7 and Shenmue III, (don't get me wrong) i'm very happy that people can play these games again.
Could be a smart plan for them to let Oculus come out first as it'll be a long time before the mass market adopts that piece of kit due to it's reliance on the consumer having a pretty good PC. Let that come out and let people talk about how cool VR (if it is) then a few months later, maybe even leave until holiday 2016. Then bring out the Morpheus at a decent price point and you can run it on the console you have already. Tackles the problem of marketing it somewhat.
I don't even understand why we're having such a critical analysis of it all. The "winner" at E3 has always been decided by the fanfare that is caused, and clearly this year, PS4 reintroduced/announced long time anticipated titles that people never ever thought could happen. The fact that you chose to even describe it as something of fan-fiction shows just how miraculous their performance was. The only reason those games "don't mean anything" to some gamers is because those gamers are likely Xbox One owners, who are on the defensive because of the magnitude of said announcements. That same excuse, by the way, could be applied to the backwards compatible features of Xbox One. If the Final Fantasy VII remake "doesn't count" just because they don't care about it, then couldn't the same be said of people who just want to play NEW games on their NEW systems?? It's 2015 after all, we are well into the generation's lifecycle where the only games that should matter are those we have not yet played. If this were 2013 or 2014, yeah, that might have been a genuinely worthy feature. But something tells me the ONLY reason that feature gets brought up is because the demos of their 1st party at their conference were the safest we've ever seen. Tomb Raider? She walks. She Climbs. She falls back down. She swings. She ends up escaping the glacial threat. Great. But it's mostly linear and didn't really show off what it's doing new. Gears 4? Just a midnight stroll in the dark and fighting what seemed like some mid-level enemies. No demonstration of new mechanics/features, no depth, overrall extremely short, outside of the new, slower pace to the game there was no sense of significance. HALO 5? Loud, set piece moment. A little on Master Chief, and a short video of Multiplayer. Okay, great, but that's standard HALO. Sea of Thieves was the only one that demonstrated depth. Hololens, while undeniably a great demo was also lacking in how it appeals to the core crowd. How does Hololens work with Gears 4, HALO etc.? Showing that would have made a more powerful statement. What was shown, was merely an expensive way of looking at Minecraft. On Sony side: Last Guardian? No one has seen this game being properly played before, and the A.I. mechanics are (even just based on visual evidence) are like no other game you've seen. Horizon? A completely new IP. Everything you see is new. Not just a CG trailer. Demonstrates mechanics. Story and world building. Shown how the combat structure works with a takedown of a boss-type creature. A proper slice of the game. And while we've seen Uncharted 4 before, this new video demoed a set piece, gameplay features new to the franchise, aand a much, much, larger (and non-linear) level. At the end of the day, I think what Sony brought was way more substantive and is much more worthy of discussion than most of what MS had. How, in that case, are they still portrayed as neck and neck with Microsoft..? Baffling.
As far as first-party exclusives go, I personally don't think PS4 needs them this year. Maybe it's just because I don't have enough time to play games anymore, but with everything being open-world, huge games, I'm glad I'm getting some breathing room before Uncharted 4 and all of these other huge PS4-exclusives come out. I'm currently like a 1/4 of the way through The Witcher. Then, there will be Batman, then Metal Gear, then Uncharted Collection, then Fallout 4 and Battlefront within a week or each other. And that's not to mention all of the other games that may come out, including indies... There's just too much. I'll enjoy the room the breathe and get to the games I want.

I disagree that Sony won in the Exclusives category: I think MX had the stronger lineup. I do however think Sony won in conferences, but analyzing MX's conference one could argue that MX said a lot more about themselves while Sony had a lot of huge announcements that were multi-platform.
Maybe if they demoed Morpheus at a venue such as Mosi Science Center they could utilize the MASSIVE theatre tv to their advantage. Also kids are always going there so they'd spread the word on a side note. Good/bad idea?
Sony did not win this lol. They had Horizon which was looking pretty good, but FF7 Remake is timed exclusive and Shenmue 3 was a kickstarter....if MS should a kickstarter on their conference, we would not hear the end of it.
Did I miss something or why is ms and oculus such a big deal ? You only can stream the games from xbox to win 10 and from there to oculus right ? I don't see that as a good experience and when you add the fact that oculus is aiming for high frame rates I doubt this will be good

Also Colin in terms of your comment about fallout mods only being a timed exclusive. If you are going to really pick it a part most of what sony showed is just timed exclusives. So that isn't really a fair assessment to make.
According to Tetsuya Nomuras statement saying "a remake of 7 will not be simple", that's got ps5 release written all over it. Taken into account that not only that 15 is still in development, square enix is determined to make it better than 7 in almost every way, they need to flesh out the game engine so they can use it for 7. Beside why make it exactly the same except better graphics? Granted that it might respect how the original game played, but on the same token it defeats the purpose of playing the original. They should use 15s combat system/game engine to run 7 remake, and if they did Square I can manage to keep the material system intact. You have to think, back in NES up to early Playstation days they didn't had the technology at the time to make the kind of game that 15 is, so they had to do turn based style prg with the technology they had at its time period.
While I do think Sony had the most exciting conference their Fall/Holiday line up is still lackluster. Granted they still have other events to come so far Microsoft has Fall wrapped up

So many small details (animations, destruction, object physics) show that ND really is in a class of their own Horizon - What a killer looking new IP! Dreams - I don't even know what this is, but I'm so intrigued :-) Then the still-can't-believe-it triple-whammy of The Last Guardian, FFVII Remake, AND Shenmue III !!! What a great time to be a fan of PlayStation!
The two craziest revealed secrets this year (and for the next decade) will be FF7 and Shenmue, hands down. While some people detected hints and rumors around the net, MOST people did not see this shit coming.

the playstation conference was pretty good.But my problem with the whole thing is the lack of actual exclusives. Final Fantasy 7 remake will be on Xbox One, Destiny is on Xbox One, Firewatch, Hitman, etc. I think Sony needs to secure itself more third party exclusives with the PS4. If Sony wants Shenmue 3 to be exclusively on PS4 why can't they give Yu Suzuki the $$$ his studio needs, Final Fantasy 7 remake should be exclusive to PS4. Sony should be securing that game as an exclusive by paying Square-Enix some $$$. Final Fantasy 7 was originally a Playstation exclusive. Why can't the same be true for the remake. I think the idea of this VR stuff is kinda cool. I'll admit it. But I don't really see myself investing in it. Playstation Now is a joke. I think PlayStation 4 needs Backwards Compatibility.And I think it needs more exclusives. that horizon is pretty cool looking. Sony had a cool conference and i own a ps4 not an xbox one - uncharted 4/ final fantasy 7/ and Horizon look amazing. But saw way too many games that we had already seen in other conferences, touched very little on indies which i love my ps4 for and found the morpheus aspect a massive let down. They didn't have the abundance of exclusives being shown like at microsofts conference, and they showed too many cinematic trailers at sonys. On top of this microsofts holo lens/ backwards compatability are big moves. I wish sony had the better conference but i fully disagree with you guys personally, microsoft killed everyone else conference wise
I was impressed with the conference, but dissapointed that some games/developers didn't show up. I was hoping to see something of God of War IV, Yakuza Ishin and Zero localization, Gravity Rush 2, Persona 5, something from Quantic Dream and a tease of what Sucker Punch is doing next. Also, EA and Ubisoft were horrible. Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered with all DLC included would please everyone until the next Mass Effect arrives. Kinda sucks they didn't announce that. Ubisoft could've mentioned the next Rayman or Wild, Beyond Good & Evil 2, the next Prince of Persia? Both publishers didn't do shit.
I think Sony didn't show morpheus now because they thought oculus are having their own conference, so Sony would rather not share the limelight. There's still psx, ces, gamescon, tgs, pax, next e3 for them to show it off. Tbh tho I'm not too excited about any of the vrs that much. Plus totally disagree with greg, that uncharted trailer wasn't flat! You were driving a car in a district that ND built, it had a lot of detail and destructible environments!

Sephiroth (ahhh sephiroth music plahing in my head) and, cloud are probably the two 2 badest mofos to ever exist in all of gameing. It's still today debated as the greatest game of all time. It was a very very special game for its time. Theres never been another ff game thats even come close to matching it or even being near its shadow. Its truly a one of a kind game. And a must play to new gamers today to understand what true story telling and character development is and how most games have lost their touch since back then.

Charlie Angel Well, Nomura was just recently interviewed as saying they are trying to keep all the original staff to male this game, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. FF XV shows they really are pressing hard to keep the fans happy now. Whether that is their passion themselves or learned humility, it just means better stuff for us.

Nothing Sony showed will come out this year, and the biggest games they announced are not even exclusive. The FF7 Remaster is only a timed exclusive, the COD exclusivity was super disappointing for any hardcore gamers, and the Shenmue 3 kickstarter announcement was just a total joke.

I honestly don't understand how 'Sony won E3'. Microsoft announced lots of new features which Sony didn't; the new controller, Hololens, Windows 10 compatibility, VR partnerships, FALLOUT MODS, EA Access, Xbox Preview and backwards compatibility. All of that made it seem like Microsoft are really trying hard to make Xbox One the best overall gaming platform available. Microsoft also showed lots of games which are actually coming this year, such as Halo and Rare Replay. On the other hand, Sony's big hitters were Uncharted and The Last Guardian which, although look to be good games, are coming next year. Lots of people are talking about FF7 Remake but that isn't Playstation exclusive and, lets be honest, is just another remaster in a generation of remasters. In fact, half the conference was showing of multi-platform games; Batman, CoD, AC Syndicate, FF7, Destiny, Star Wars, Hitman and Disney Infinity. Overall, I was actually rather disappointed with Sony's conference tbh.

2. It's up to the Devs if the game can be BC... so any game getting remastered, which will probably be most of the ones that people would want, probably won't get approved by the devs if they are making a remake.
3. I'm sure I've read hundreds of "I didn't buy a new console to play old games" comments. Weird that now BC is supposed to be one fo the best features we've ever got.

OH MY GOD......... Final Fantasy 7 is everything i remember from my gaming childhood. This makes me happy BEYOND measure!
Unfortunately for me, The Last Guardian was a bit underwhelming. It looked amazing years ago, when it was originally revealed. The time it spent in development hell has kind of dulled my expectations...especially seeing what little progress it's seemingly made over such a long period of time. I was waiting for that "wow" moment, and it just never came.

He says he doesnt care if a games not exclusive when praising sonys lineup but when greg mentions games xbox showed hes like who cares its not exclusive like what?? I noticed a thing or two during No Man's Sky: as he broke down the enviornment you saw him collecting materials that were identified by elements, and as he went to his beacon and "uploaded" his info, he had credits deposited into his account of some kind. I'm assuming there's a crafting and trading system and a player driven economy somewhere in the background. Obviously it's not much to go off of, but it's something.

But while you figure E3 is the best possible way to show it, is everyone already forgetting they could go all out at their own event at PlayStation Experience later this year? Would be a closer to the release window than E3 and you could showcase even more of your own stuff without certain restrictions. It's probably going to get much more time at PlayStation Experience

Going by the general view of most gaming sites, Microsoft can win E3 next year by announcing Half Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Banjo 3 & Conker 2. They don't need release dates within 12 months, new gameplay or to even be in production. Just announce titles people want and you win.
The thing is, at this moment Sony doesn't have anything for this year. All the exclusives they showed are for next year or don't even have a date. I think Colin tweeted something like this but, Sony needs to make a move. They've been too confortable on the leading spot and not really doing anything to stay there. Seriously, what can we play on PS4 besides multiplats (which can be played on the Xbox One) and Uncharted remastered?

Microsoft had ingenuity, Windows 10 compatibility is potentially huge, Holo lens was truly awe inspiring, backwards compatibility is a very smart move.
Sony don't deserve points for a long overdue game, which sadly isn't of PS4 quality at all. Uncharted 4 is obviously of the highest quality but Halo 5, Gears 4 and Tomb Raider, while not individually as good as Uncharted (IMO) collectively have it beat.
Final Fantasy is a timed exclusive, as are Fallout 4 PC mods for consoles (Supposedly coming to PS4 also I heard) so neither get points, even if they did cancel each other out. I also refuse to give points to new IPs, being 'unproven' (The Order 1886 is a prime example why not to)
Both companies had an excellent E3 so let's do the childish point scoring. Everyone should be happy as it's a great time to be a gamer!
It was more of the shock factor that "won them E3." Everyone had given up hope on The Last Guardian but it came out whereas Tomb Raider, Gears or War and Halo were expected to be shown.

I think the biggest problem with the conference was pacing. They announced Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VII, Shenmue and Horizon all in the first half of the show and then went to the third parties. Had they held just one back to play after the Uncharted demo then it would have been received even better.
Despite that it was still the best conference in my opinion. I get why people think Microsoft was better but for "holy shit, this is actually happening" moments I think Sony just edged it. Microsoft had backwards compat. and the Hololens part but Sony had 3 just in the 20 minutes. And that Uncharted demo, oh man.
I totally agree with what Greg said at the end about who won. Most of the games of Sony didn't get me excited because they aren't my type of games. My friend and I got into a heated debate over who won because of this. I liked MS this year a lot more. But to each his own. It all boils down to what type of gamer you are.

im already totally sold on dreams, to me it looks like an animation tool and thats great. just think of all the amazing creative animations we are gonna see on it and i cant wait to try and make my own. im hoping they get licence stuff like LBP did too like ghostbusters props etc. dreams and no mans sky are the games i want the most.
Shenmue is a game I was always aware of, but never got to play back when. However, I feel like Shenmue 3 (pretty cool they met their financial goal so quickly by the way) isn't going to be very relevant if we don't have practical access to the prior games.
EDIT: On No Man's Sky, totally agree with Greg. But I felt like that guy was nervous and had very little time too. No Man's Sky is still up in the air for me.

Sony won in terms of "hype". But realistically, Microsoft has games coming out soon. It just felt like Sony is pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, because they don't have much STILL coming out in 2015 despite being 2 years on the market. But it makes sense that you guys think Sony "won" considering your disposition.

I personally think Microsoft won e3 by fair by having all complete backwards compatibility and that the game are mostly exclusive in the Sony conference they just showed timed exclusives or map packs first like final fantasy 7 timed exclusive
Morpheus is not going to work with any of the gorgeous looking games on PS4, the hardware just doesn't allow it (even with an additional hardware boost). It's the same with Microsoft and likely Rift/Vive support for the Xbox One, we won't get anything that can't run at really high frame rates to begin with. It's purely a technical thing.
I agree... I don't think VR is really designed for this console generation. I guess right now, they're testing the waters. And maybe that's a good thing. A technology like this should have time to evolve. I tried it (the occulus) and I think there are many problems to solve and I don't expect VR to be this mass market thing until 2020 or so...
The Morpheus has one advantage over occulus in terms of frame rate in that it only has one 1080p screen(easier to get higher frame rates, might look slightly not as sharp) while occulus has two 1080x1200 screens. This is why it takes insane hardware to run the rift properly. Really vr isn't going to have great looking games for a few years still even on PC, but that's fine as the immersion that comes from the rift makes even shitty looking games feel more real
You thought Uncharted was a "Flat Demo" really, i'll be honest, for me Uncharted saved Sony's press conference, it was pretty dull, For 83 minutes I was watching announcement after announcement, some with gameplay, some without, Horizon looked interesting but other then that I was trying to fight the urge to nod off... then Uncharted happened, even with the glitch at the beginning it was the best 7 minutes of the Sony's conference, I thought this was head and shoulders above the first gameplay we saw months ago even though that was great it didn't have the uncharted flair, it was all exploration and gun play but this demo we got the wise cracking, not taking anything serious Drake... and the quips that came from sully were pure gold, as I said for me this saved Sony's conference.

Last of Us, Uncharted, No Man's Sky, Horizon, Dreams are the only exclusives for Sony and all of them are coming sometime "later". The big gun of FF7 is not exclusive. halo, rare collection, fable legends, Forza, gears, tomb raider, gigantic, are all exclusives for MSoft releasing THIS YEAR! to me the two are not even close

Both Sony and Microsoft had good press conferences but Sony won. Their conference held your attention with the announcements of games with interesting demos. Microsoft talked more about their tech and some demos were slow. In terms of which company will have better exclusives this year, there is no contest since Sony has barely any games releasing. But that has nothing to do with who had a better conference. So Sony had a better conference but Microsoft is in a better position with more games this year and better potential for future conference surprises.
Both MS and Sony get a 10/10 (IMO) The highlights from sony was Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted 4 (But i'm not a Ucharted Fan) but it looks cool. That last guardian demo was boring , and i don't care about FF7 and Shenmue III, (don't get me wrong) i'm very happy that people can play these games again.

Could be a smart plan for them to let Oculus come out first as it'll be a long time before the mass market adopts that piece of kit due to it's reliance on the consumer having a pretty good PC. Let that come out and let people talk about how cool VR (if it is) then a few months later, maybe even leave until holiday 2016. Then bring out the Morpheus at a decent price point and you can run it on the console you have already. Tackles the problem of marketing it somewhat.
I don't even understand why we're having such a critical analysis of it all. The "winner" at E3 has always been decided by the fanfare that is caused, and clearly this year, PS4 reintroduced/announced long time anticipated titles that people never ever thought could happen. The fact that you chose to even describe it as something of fan-fiction shows just how miraculous their performance was.
The only reason those games "don't mean anything" to some gamers is because those gamers are likely Xbox One owners, who are on the defensive because of the magnitude of said announcements.
That same excuse, by the way, could be applied to the backwards compatible features of Xbox One. If the Final Fantasy VII remake "doesn't count" just because they don't care about it, then couldn't the same be said of people who just want to play NEW games on their NEW systems?? It's 2015 after all, we are well into the generation's lifecycle where the only games that should matter are those we have not yet played.
If this were 2013 or 2014, yeah, that might have been a genuinely worthy feature. But something tells me the ONLY reason that feature gets brought up is because the demos of their 1st party at their conference were the safest we've ever seen.
Tomb Raider? She walks. She Climbs. She falls back down. She swings. She ends up escaping the glacial threat. Great. But it's mostly linear and didn't really show off what it's doing new.
Gears 4? Just a midnight stroll in the dark and fighting what seemed like some mid-level enemies. No demonstration of new mechanics/features, no depth, overrall extremely short, outside of the new, slower pace to the game there was no sense of significance.
HALO 5? Loud, set piece moment. A little on Master Chief, and a short video of Multiplayer. Okay, great, but that's standard HALO.
Sea of Thieves was the only one that demonstrated depth. Hololens, while undeniably a great demo was also lacking in how it appeals to the core crowd. How does Hololens work with Gears 4, HALO etc.? Showing that would have made a more powerful statement. What was shown, was merely an expensive way of looking at Minecraft.
On Sony side:
Last Guardian? No one has seen this game being properly played before, and the A.I. mechanics are (even just based on visual evidence) are like no other game you've seen.
Horizon? A completely new IP. Everything you see is new. Not just a CG trailer. Demonstrates mechanics. Story and world building. Shown how the combat structure works with a takedown of a boss-type creature. A proper slice of the game.
And while we've seen Uncharted 4 before, this new video demoed a set piece, gameplay features new to the franchise, aand a much, much, larger (and non-linear) level.
At the end of the day, I think what Sony brought was way more substantive and is much more worthy of discussion than most of what MS had. How, in that case, are they still portrayed as neck and neck with Microsoft..? Baffling.

As far as first-party exclusives go, I personally don't think PS4 needs them this year. Maybe it's just because I don't have enough time to play games anymore, but with everything being open-world, huge games, I'm glad I'm getting some breathing room before Uncharted 4 and all of these other huge PS4-exclusives come out.
I'm currently like a 1/4 of the way through The Witcher. Then, there will be Batman, then Metal Gear, then Uncharted Collection, then Fallout 4 and Battlefront within a week or each other. And that's not to mention all of the other games that may come out, including indies... There's just too much. I'll enjoy the room the breathe and get to the games I want.
So no new playstation 4 model is announced?(1tb version) Should i wait for gamescom or will there be no new model anytime soon and should i just get the ps4 now?

I disagree that Sony won in the Exclusives category: I think MX had the stronger lineup. I do however think Sony won in conferences, but analyzing MX's conference one could argue that MX said a lot more about themselves while Sony had a lot of huge announcements that were multi-platform.
The coolest thing about the Final fantasy 7 trailer except the back of Claud Strife was the voice of David F###cking Lodge narrating it!!!
Maybe if they demoed Morpheus at a venue such as Mosi Science Center they could utilize the MASSIVE theatre tv to their advantage. Also kids are always going there so they'd spread the word on a side note. Good/bad idea?
Sony did not win this lol. They had Horizon which was looking pretty good, but FF7 Remake is timed exclusive and Shenmue 3 was a kickstarter....if MS should a kickstarter on their conference, we would not hear the end of it.

Did I miss something or why is ms and oculus such a big deal ? You only can stream the games from xbox to win 10 and from there to oculus right ? I don't see that as a good experience and when you add the fact that oculus is aiming for high frame rates I doubt this will be good
I struggle to call a winner between Sony and Microsoft because i can't trust that the games they are showing are exclusives. Is No Mans Sky a PS4 exclusive or not? I don't even know

update character models update pre rendered backgrounds leave combat alone cinematic cutscenes can be changed but story should remain the same plot point for plot point. new stuff can be added such as new materia and optional sidequests but do NOT cut content.
Also Colin in terms of your comment about fallout mods only being a timed exclusive. If you are going to really pick it a part most of what sony showed is just timed exclusives. So that isn't really a fair assessment to make.

According to Tetsuya Nomuras statement saying "a remake of 7 will not be simple", that's got ps5 release written all over it.
Taken into account that not only that 15 is still in development, square enix is determined to make it better than 7 in almost every way, they need to flesh out the game engine so they can use it for 7.
Beside why make it exactly the same except better graphics? Granted that it might respect how the original game played, but on the same token it defeats the purpose of playing the original.
They should use 15s combat system/game engine to run 7 remake, and if they did Square I can manage to keep the material system intact.
You have to think, back in NES up to early Playstation days they didn't had the technology at the time to make the kind of game that 15 is, so they had to do turn based style prg with the technology they had at its time period.
While I do think Sony had the most exciting conference their Fall/Holiday line up is still lackluster. Granted they still have other events to come so far Microsoft has Fall wrapped up
What a show! Wow, Sony really brought it this year :-) My favorite parts:
Uncharted 4 - Wow, what a demo! So many small details (animations, destruction, object physics) show that ND really is in a class of their own
Horizon - What a killer looking new IP!
Dreams - I don't even know what this is, but I'm so intrigued :-)
Then the still-can't-believe-it triple-whammy of The Last Guardian, FFVII Remake, AND Shenmue III !!!

Regarding No Man's Sky, my only worry is the gun gameplay from what I have seen it does not look that good but have to wait and see when I have a controller in my hands.

the playstation conference was pretty good.But my problem with the whole thing is the lack of actual exclusives. Final Fantasy 7 remake will be on Xbox One, Destiny is on Xbox One, Firewatch, Hitman, etc. I think Sony needs to secure itself more third party exclusives with the PS4. If Sony wants Shenmue 3 to be exclusively on PS4 why can't they give Yu Suzuki the $$$ his studio needs, Final Fantasy 7 remake should be exclusive to PS4. Sony should be securing that game as an exclusive by paying Square-Enix some $$$. Final Fantasy 7 was originally a Playstation exclusive. Why can't the same be true for the remake.
I think the idea of this VR stuff is kinda cool. I'll admit it. But I don't really see myself investing in it. Playstation Now is a joke. I think PlayStation 4 needs Backwards Compatibility.And I think it needs more exclusives. that horizon is pretty cool looking.
I also think that games like Call Of Duty, Battlefield and Assassin's Creed could use a break for 4-5 years. More new IPs would be awesome. Or even bringing back older retro games into the next generation

I counted a ton of exclusives that I couldn't go without playing that are only available on the PS4. This includes my now second most anticipated game which is Horizon.

Sony had a cool conference and i own a ps4 not an xbox one - uncharted 4/ final fantasy 7/ and Horizon look amazing. But saw way too many games that we had already seen in other conferences, touched very little on indies which i love my ps4 for and found the morpheus aspect a massive let down. They didn't have the abundance of exclusives being shown like at microsofts conference, and they showed too many cinematic trailers at sonys. On top of this microsofts holo lens/ backwards compatability are big moves. I wish sony had the better conference but i fully disagree with you guys personally, microsoft killed everyone else conference wise

I was impressed with the conference, but dissapointed that some games/developers didn't show up. I was hoping to see something of God of War IV, Yakuza Ishin and Zero localization, Gravity Rush 2, Persona 5, something from Quantic Dream and a tease of what Sucker Punch is doing next.
Also, EA and Ubisoft were horrible. Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered with all DLC included would please everyone until the next Mass Effect arrives. Kinda sucks they didn't announce that. Ubisoft could've mentioned the next Rayman or Wild, Beyond Good & Evil 2, the next Prince of Persia? Both publishers didn't do shit.
I think Sony didn't show morpheus now because they thought oculus are having their own conference, so Sony would rather not share the limelight. There's still psx, ces, gamescon, tgs, pax, next e3 for them to show it off. Tbh tho I'm not too excited about any of the vrs that much. Plus totally disagree with greg, that uncharted trailer wasn't flat! You were driving a car in a district that ND built, it had a lot of detail and destructible environments!
