      That's great you use eco glitter, what is it made of (it wasn't mentioned). I live my the Atlantic so we need to be careful what we use (especially because the whales migrate nearby)

      @@KO-ll4mk EcoGlitter is made of cellulose, which is an organic compound found in plants. It mainly comes from cotton and wood pulp.

    Nice Xmas gift idea! Can additives such as oils or butters be added? If so, at what measurement?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes, but too much additional oils and butters can make your soaps too soft. We recommend using a maximum of 1 tablespoon of extra oil or butter per pound of soap.

      You can always use a double boiler setup for melt & pour soap, but never put the melting container directly on the heat surface.

    Am I correct in understanding that the main reason melt and pour doesn’t swirl like cold process it’s because it sets too fast and doesn’t stay at the thick liquid stage long enough? In theory if I could keep my melt and pour soap at 125~ liquid state fora longer period of time could I swirl it like cold prices? I have a warming box that I can do my soap making in then remove the mold from the box after… it wouldn’t heat much but just keep it from setting too fast….

    • @amanahbrookins5487

      I have seen people swirl melt and pour but it doesn’t look exactly like cold process or have that height at the top but it is possible

    if someone can help, I love Bramble Berry ideas, products and designs, but I have been feeling frustrated with this melt and pour layers. I have been watching my temperature to pour the second layer very carefully, and still separate when cutting or when using. I use the alcohol 99%, spray not to much not to little, I let the first layer hard, did not work. I let the fist Layer to form hard skin, did not work.
    temperature is always about 140 to 135, sometimes decide to pour little hotter, does not melt the fist layers but still not stick enough when cutting or using.
    if anyone had another Idea I am all ears.
    thank you everyone for the good comments.

      If you are putting it in the fridge, don't do that. Leave in the mold overnight and don't mix different brands of soap base. Other than that, I don't understand why your soap is separating when you cut it. Hope this helps.

    • @amanahbrookins5487
      @amanahbrookins5487 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually keep the melted base on the counter in a glass bowl next to the stove (I use double boiler to melt mine) while waiting for bottom layer to harden, keeps the base warmer. Also the type of base you use might harden faster.
