Avenged only agreed to do songs for Call of Duty because they themselves love Call of Duty. Especially Matt he's a big gamer and friends with the guys at Treyarch. Most people look at songs in video games as sellout but these guys kill it no matter what.
And you know whats crazy too, matt has literally been in every black ops game, bo1 easter egg, bo2 campaign, bo3 MULTIPLAYER MUSIC!!!! and he was in bo4 black out
the song is from BO1 and is co-written by kevin sherwood. the dude is a beast of a song writer. that is the reason this song has such a distinct sound to it that makes it stand out from other songs of theirs. sherwood did the writing and mixing. 2:00 to answer your question, i don't think this song specifically got people into metal but keven sherwood songs generally probably most definitely did. 115 is still to this day one of my favorite songs
My stepfather toured with Avenged Sevenfold as there sound guy around 2005. He still has his exclusive staff passes. He told me a story of once they got drunk and rode ATVs around at my grandmas place. It’s so strange how I grew up listening to these guys just to find out my step dad knew them all along
this song got me into A7X back in 2011, I'm 20 years old now so I was 8 or 9 years old when it came out, been a fan ever since and I listen to their stuff regularly
Broski. Avenged Sevenfold is a progressive metal band. They never wanted to be Metalcore or heavy metal. So I don't get why people are mad that their new album is progressive metal?? How do you get mad that a band is making music in it's own genre? They chose to stop screaming after waking the fallen and they slowly progressed from Metalcore, to Punk Metal, to Melodic Metal to Heavy Metal into Progressive Metal with The Stage and now Life Is But A Dream. People are saying they're becoming more mainstream but they're doing what they intended the band to do.
Waking the Fallen was pretty much Metalcore, but even on that album they had a lot of prog elements. They have just steadily turned down aggression and speed for the most part and leaned into prog. Half of the songs on City of Evil sound like Power Metal anyways.
Still don’t make an album good lol. And hard to say that when for 15 plus years they weren’t prog at all. The stage is great, but LIBAD is just bad. Saw them live and luckily they cut out most of the songs from that album. Cause ending with G.O.D. Was horrific. Got to hear Save Me. Which I’ll take any day
This fucking son was truly a zombies master piece! High rounds call of the dead or even just trying to kill George with this in the background… this song hit hard for everyone. The lyrics, the length, the fucking OG zombies piano, just all around fire instrumentals, this song was truly a fucking masterpiece for a zombies map!
When this map came out and we found the easter egg song, I always played it when I'm on that map. Legit got me into Avenged Sevenfold and rock and metal in general.
Shepherd of Fire was used in BO2 for the intro cut scene of the zombies dlc map called Origins. And on another BO2 dlc map called Buried after you completed the main easter egg as a reward get to watch an outro cut scene playing one of their songs called Buried Alive.
I believe this was for Black Ops 1! Fun little fact, the lead singer of Avenged Sevenfold loved Black Ops (particularly Black Ops Zombies) so much, he actually had a trailer brought with him on tour to play it when he had down time. I think he also did many of these songs for free
a7x got some shade for doing songs for Call of Duty for a good bit but honestly they're really solid songs, not their best but not their worst by any means. You should totally listed to Mad Hatter, very interesting song
Save me bro. This song and Save Me are my two grails. To me they hit a different sound on both, while being clinically extraordinary, in different ways. Masterpieces.
you don't understand the new album, it's great, different. The bad things is that there are various songs that i can't listen on the car because the have some weird noises

so many zombies died during this song lol
Zombies are harmed in this film
So many zombies had to go back to hair and makeup since they didn't look dead enough
Frickin thousands of them!
Many pants were soiled as well
Id love to see that stat. Like a percentage increase of 200% of zombies being kill when this song hits

Loving Treyarch for that. Black Ops 2 was legendary as fuck. Carry On, Shepard of Fire. I fell in love with their music. Just unique.
i would not be shocked in the slightest if sherwood and A7X were friends based on the kind of music both of them make.

My favorite guitar solo ever. I love how they took the piano theme from the zombies menu, and shredded it on the guitar. Synister Gates is the GOAT

Why do you talk over the music?
Really hate when people are just talking over a song when they’re reacting, so annoying, I mean, pay attention to the song.
They have to talk over it or pause it frequently to avoid copyright strikes on their channel
The point still stands. Pay attention to the song, if you’d like to say something pause the darn video and it helps with copyright..
Hey pausing and talking over the song doesn’t do anything for copyright, if I’m talking over a song take that as it’s own critique as I’ll pause and talk less when I’m loving a song
