I know this hobby attracts many socially awkward people, but how can they keep doing that is beyond me - years ago i played a casual game with my friend - im filthiest of casuals (switched to OPR fully now) and am more into rule of cool and the vibe - i played the Nids, so had as much cannon fodder as possible plus few big monsters. Soon a "kind" nerd waddled in and said that my list is not optimal, - i responded that its ok as its a friendly game, but he started moaning that i should do XYZ - basically ended up in 3 strikes - you're out scenario : i jokingly dismissed him, them politely said im not interested, and the final time just said that unless he wants some live-action 40k stuff going on he should f-off - THEN he got the clue.....
I've been on the receiving end of similar. My initial answer was "I know it's not optimal, that's deliberate. We're playing a narrative." was met with absolute incomprehension. He couldn't understand that we weren't playing a matched battle with intent. Thankfully mine just wandered off after a moment of trying to process, shaking his head - I think maybe we broke him 😄 (For the record I was playing infantry-spam eldar!)
"don't judge a book by its cover" I mean to be fair the whole point of a cover is to judge the book; to tell you it's contents. That doesn't mean that a book's cover can be wildly different from its contents, but muuuuch of the time the way people carry themselves says a lot about them
I love Battletech! I don’t really have hobby nightmares of Battletech. However, I’m almost one year into a home-brew campaign with a great set of players. I run it like a mix of MechWarrior 5: Mercanaries and D&D. Contracts are posted bi-weekly the Mercenaries (Players) vote set in the Dark Age era. Customization is limited to your in-game income.

Aye North, as you've said to us before, "You owe it to your minis to get a better camera." Love ya mate.
