Well you are in LUCK! There is already an AI TV narrator/commentator mod that exists for AMS 2 & is still being developed!!! In fact, there is videos of it you can watch right now!!! We - just can't download it right now because it is being made for the new GTR Revival game coming out which uses the AMS 2 engine, so they decided to do a "proof of concept" and created: "Straight4 - AI Powered Race Commentary & Engineer Concept Demo" in AMS 2, since their game "GTR Revival" wasn't developed enough to test it yet, so they made it in AMS 2. Go watch the video of it AI TV commentary in AMS 2 it is AMAZING!! and I think will change gaming forever. (It also has AI race engineer). Also AMS 2 is one of the best sims for recreating 1988-1994 F1. Because it has: 4 different 1983 F1 cars (with McLaren MP4/1c) 3 different 1986 F1 cars (with Sennas Lotus 98T) 4 different 1988 F1 cars (with Sennas McLaren mp4/4) 5 different 1990 F1 cars (with Sennas McLaren mp4/5B) 4 different 1991 F1 cars (with Sennas McLaren mp4/6) 5 different 1992 F1 cars (with Sennas McLaren mp4/7) 4 different 1993 F1 cars (with Sennas McLaren mp4/8) 1 1995 F1 car 2 different 1996 F1 cars Also AMS 2 has the 70s, 80s, 90s & 00s layout versions of many tracks with the old advertising. AMS 2 also has the Williams F1 cars too just unbranded but the skin packs fix that. Also has the brabham f1 cars & others which I didn't specifically list too. Also 70s cars as well, 5 different 1975 cars, 4 different 1970 cars, 4 different 1979 cars. AMS 2 is the closest thing to your dream game. Great video! would love to see a drive as Gilles Villeneuve in either the Ferrari 126 c2 battle of Gilles vs Pironi at Imola or the 312T4 at Dijon Arnoux vs Villeneuve
The mp4/4 was an iconic car and ams2 is very good. Although after 1.5 the grip is a little much. The 1.5.03 fixed other cars but didn’t touch the Gen2 F1 cars. The feel needs to go back to 1.48. Great video, again
Hey Jake, a suggestion I have for you/the comment section: Lotus 25 - Lydden Hill GP - PCars2 I know, this game is not everyone's cup of tea, but I had a blast with this combination. The track is mostly known for its rallycross track, but the GP-layout is really great. Probatly most players don't even know that this layout is in the game. The extremly bumpy track with quite hard corners (one even with a jump mid corner) and the slippery Lotus. A perfect match IMO. Suggestions: I tried to limit my horsepower, so I shifted at 8k (instead 10,4k) and closed the cooling vents for the engine. That way the opponets could pass me on the short straight while I could fight with them (and my car) in the corners.
I’ve really been enjoying AMS2 lately. Mostly for historical races like this. Hope one day we can find a way to either get the old 1988 F1 tracks from rfactor2 ported over to this game or Reiza add a few more tracks from that era. Modern Paul Ricard can get lost but I love the 1988 layout and would be ecstatic to drive it with modern tech and graphics in AMs2
As for a car/track combo - if you have access to old Bathurst and the touring car set that had the Nissan Skyline, Ford Sierra, VL Commodore, BMW M3 and do a historic Bathurst against Peter Brock, Tomas Mezera, Mark Skaife, Dick Johnson etc. It was a great era or cars that would suit the old track without the chase section added to Conrod Straight. Love all of your content, you’re a great story teller 👍
I'm so glad you left this 'take' of the race alone. That was a flashback moment to 8 yrs old watching on ESPN as Senna and Prost go into turn 1 at Suzuka... AMS2 has come a hell of a long way in the last year or so. That's probably one of my favorite moments in a sim racing video. Sorry you didn't win it, but damn that was cool.
Now I gotta see a 1988 Indy 500 mod, where you drive as Danny Sullivan at the 500, to see if you can give him that second win, might end with a (somewhat) similar result as this video did LOL
Beautiful stuff as always. Bit too early in the year, but I'd love to see some sort of historic FF video celebrating the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in late October. Late autumnal racing at the very tail of the British season
Really surprised you don't try AMS2 in VR, it's amazing in a way that you cannot describe in words. Maybe not the best for making videos though, would be a bit jerky. Even with a simple Quest2 it's amazing.
In this scenario, Prost still finishes the season with more total points than Senna (111 to 103 instead of the actual 105 to 94) but the drop score system (only each driver's 11 best races counted) just takes those 6 extra points away from Prost immediately anyway, and now instead of losing 2 DNFs and three 2nd's for a painful total of 18 points, Prost loses one DNF and four 2nds for an absurd loss of 24 points, landing right back on his real-life official score of 87. Instead of dropping a 10th, two DNFs, a 6th and a 4th, Senna now drops two DNFs, a 6th, a 4th, and a 2nd, so even though he gained 9 points with this win, he only nets a 3-point gain in the final standings, landing on 93 instead of 90. So you've completed McLaren's perfect season without upsetting the Senna fans, as Senna pulls it out by a final score of 93-87. Good job.
So glad you left that tangle in the video.. racing incident in the day,, today 🙈😤 points and penalties, and grid punishment,,😩😖 Heard the car ad Goodwood,, what a rasp,, amazing,, 👍🏼👍🏼 By the way,, Senna. Shot across your bow,, ☠️ 🤭
Not exactly sure about which car(s) right this second, but a couple of tracks that I really like, but feel just don't get enough attention at the top level, and therefore just in general, are Dijon and Mugello. Also, I've been watching some of the old ALMS races, including the early ones at Sears Point, on the proper (as far as I'm concerned), 2.52-mile layout.
I find it hard to comprehend how Senna got away scot-free while you spun into the gravel trap. Must have gotten lucky it was only a side-pod contact for him.
God the sounds of the honda engines is amazing as was the whole video, a track and car combo that would be awesome would be Mansell and red 5 at silverstone
I think something that would be cool to see is a race between FE gen 3 car and F1 cars from around the 77 season (I think that era is closest to current FE performance). Would be cool to see that sort of split in technology play out. Monaco is probably the best circuit to do that on. Assetto Corsa would probably be your best bet with the VRC formula lithium mod.
Great video! AMS2 is really coming along in the advancements. I see myself spending an hour or 2 a day in it now just to get the racing fix. Love all the history presented in your videos as well. Educational...at least for me.
Almost, there is a few tracks missing in the catalog to get the full experience, but you can easily replace one of the tracks avaliable in the game ( there is alot ), also good part of the tracks comes with a historical version ( like Spa, Nurbs, Estoril - “Cascais in game”, silverstone and more… )
ooh, Senna outbroke you. I wonder if you GPLaps had breaked later, Senna would have backed off - kinda makes sense why he dove towards the apex there. Senna AI still gave some amount of space, just note nough. The AI is usually really aware and good, I've found. Very realistic collission. Lewis vs Max at Silverstone comes to mind.
I have this same mod installed. When I drive with TC0 there doesn't seem to be much traction at all. With TC1 it's just too easy. I prefer the AC F1 even with its flaws. Maybe I just suck on AMS2 lol. But amazing mods, either way.
hey GPlaps,I hope you will consider this request. I'm attempting to play nr1999 game. I used your ICR2 video as example. I'm encountering a problem with loading. it's not loading at all. DOSBox- .Ece is in game folder. Its short cut works, Game folder is in g drive and game wont load. your help is needed. direction to helpful info, video's would also help... not Tek savvy at all. love your stuff.
Fantastic Mod!!! i have download [AMS2] F1 1988 Season 1.26 but cannot drive the McLaren. they will show in the Race but not in the Menü to choose them.
How accurate is this sim when it comes to mechanical failures of this era which was very common? About half of the field retired due to various mechanical issues in the real 1988 Italian Grand Prix
There is something called AMDM which simulates various failures in both the player car and ai. Ik that the devs assembled a lot of data on real life failure rates to calibrate the failure rate accurately. Race the ai and sometimes you will notice ai pulling off the track in a puff of smoke as their engine/turbo died, or they pit to repair coolant leaks etc.
They can be as reliable or unreliable as you want them to be! You can adjust various parameters for each driver with custom AI files, reliability being one of them.
Best sim-tuber rn
Repent and believe in the gospel
What a great video... Senna would say that Prost have hit him... Prost would say, that he closed the door. Anger, passion, rivalry... great!
You realize the level of immersion this is when the comments are blaming Senna and not the game's AI.

"I don't know if that was my fault or not."
We asked Ayrton and he said yes, it was definitely your fault.

Sick. IMO best sim racing content on youtube.
@GPLaps: Would be cool to see a full length race
One like for the "extra realism" near the end. 😉
Now I gotta see a 1988 Indy 500 mod, where you drive as Danny Sullivan at the 500, to see if you can give him that second win, might end with a (somewhat) similar result as this video did LOL
Definitly gonna add this to tonight's AMS sesh!
I think he should have left space :)
Beautiful stuff as always. Bit too early in the year, but I'd love to see some sort of historic FF video celebrating the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in late October. Late autumnal racing at the very tail of the British season
Senna revenge 😅
great race! Grande corrida! Senna vive! Senna lives! 🇧🇷
Some days are like that.
Nice vid (as usual).
Really surprised you don't try AMS2 in VR, it's amazing in a way that you cannot describe in words. Maybe not the best for making videos though, would be a bit jerky. Even with a simple Quest2 it's amazing.
Awesome video! Thanks!
At this rate, Redbull's 2023 season could be the perfect one, because not a single team is capable of racing against them right now
So realistic!
Seen that chop one or two times before from Mr Senna lol nice race
My man did a Crank It Up lap. Good times. That engine sounds amazing.
Gotta love that 1.5 liter Turbo V6 in the MP4/4
Good job.
So glad you left that tangle in the video.. racing incident in the day,, today 🙈😤 points and penalties, and grid punishment,,😩😖
Heard the car ad Goodwood,, what a rasp,, amazing,, 👍🏼👍🏼
By the way,, Senna. Shot across your bow,, ☠️ 🤭
Can almost hear Murray Walker’s commentary …
Unless Im very well mistaken....I am very well mistaken.
If you no longer go for a gap that doesn't exist, you are no longer a sim racing driver.
AMS2 and AI in max agression. I can cleary recognize the suicidal fighting of the AI on max agression.
Nice race 🚀
Those hands are so enormous, it makes Assetto Corsa's driver look good xD
The "perfect" season is going to be achieved by Red Bull this year, mark my words.
Verstappen Run alone in 22/23
Then they brought shit boxes to Singapore and Ferrari didn't fuck up strategy for once.
Even in a sim Senna and Prost couldn't get along. And it wasn't your fault...you were at his sidepod....he turned down
Not exactly sure about which car(s) right this second, but a couple of tracks that I really like, but feel just don't get enough attention at the top level, and therefore just in general, are Dijon and Mugello. Also, I've been watching some of the old ALMS races, including the early ones at Sears Point, on the proper (as far as I'm concerned), 2.52-mile layout.
Great video! Could you please drive a FW11 at Kyalami? Keke Rosberg's style. Don't know if that's possible.
Obligatory “If gap, car” comment at 12:37 :)
Best track layout.
Back when they used high curbs to enforce track limits. Not paint.
Repent and believe in the gospel
I find it hard to comprehend how Senna got away scot-free while you spun into the gravel trap. Must have gotten lucky it was only a side-pod contact for him.
God the sounds of the honda engines is amazing as was the whole video, a track and car combo that would be awesome would be Mansell and red 5 at silverstone
Great vid. Senna would have done exactly as the A1 did.
The story here is DeCesaris in the Rial in 3rd! whoa!
how about 1985 estoril, torrential rain, lotus. Can you lap everyone?
Comparing the AI's move with Senna, even if any other AI "driver" would do the same, that makes perfect sense
Sweet video :D
You were entitled to some space there!
"Prost was a McLaren driver with a Honda engine; Senna was a Honda driver with a McLaren chassis."
Great video! AMS2 is really coming along in the advancements. I see myself spending an hour or 2 a day in it now just to get the racing fix. Love all the history presented in your videos as well. Educational...at least for me.
Senna and Prost fighting for the lead... who knew this would end like that? 😅
Maybe it's the vocals or the history but I would watch you drive a flat iron around an old denim shirt!!
i might buy automobilista 2 just because of this video. can i do a full 1988 season?
Almost, there is a few tracks missing in the catalog to get the full experience, but you can easily replace one of the tracks avaliable in the game ( there is alot ), also good part of the tracks comes with a historical version ( like Spa, Nurbs, Estoril - “Cascais in game”, silverstone and more… )
No mexico city, paul ricard, detroit, or hungaroring in ams2
Seems like you can abuse the kerbs quite a bit more than in real life
Theres no kerb strike damage to stop you
ooh, Senna outbroke you.
Great!!!
Will we see any videos on your channel when GTR Revival comes out?
You mentioned H pattern a few times, but there is background audio sounding suspiciously like the click of a shifter paddle. 🕵♂
its the clicking of my TH8A
I didn't realize those had a click@@GPLaps my bad! Full exoneration from my hasty accusations.
I have this same mod installed. When I drive with TC0 there doesn't seem to be much traction at all. With TC1 it's just too easy. I prefer the AC F1 even with its flaws. Maybe I just suck on AMS2 lol. But amazing mods, either way.
Senna vs prost=verstappen vs hamilton
The lead car is unique, except for the one behind it which is identical.
Can you recreate the 1992 Belgium GP with the Formula Hitech gen 1 ? (You in the Benetton ?
hey GPlaps,I hope you will consider this request.
Interesteing whether the 2023 Red Bull gonna beat the winrate of the MP4/4
Fantastic Mod!!! i have download [AMS2] F1 1988 Season 1.26 but cannot drive the McLaren. they will show in the Race but not in the Menü to choose them.
The mclaren ( and some other cars ) are part of the Brazillian Legends DLC. You probally doenst have it
How accurate is this sim when it comes to mechanical failures of this era which was very common? About half of the field retired due to various mechanical issues in the real 1988 Italian Grand Prix
There is something called AMDM which simulates various failures in both the player car and ai. Ik that the devs assembled a lot of data on real life failure rates to calibrate the failure rate accurately.
Race the ai and sometimes you will notice ai pulling off the track in a puff of smoke as their engine/turbo died, or they pit to repair coolant leaks etc.
They can be as reliable or unreliable as you want them to be! You can adjust various parameters for each driver with custom AI files, reliability being one of them.
Senna turned in on you #realism
If you no longer go for a gap... ;-)
