One thing i have come to realize in life is success is not final, failure is not fatal, It is the courage to continue that counts. I have failed severally trying to get a genuine account manger for investment, even traded with some that promised and never delivered as said. @@zixianfrancislin6119 I love Dave but the world has changed a lot since he started building wealth. In my part of the world it’s close to impossible to buy a house in cash. Low cost index funds are an amazing way for the average person to build wealth and he doesn’t mention them at all. Managed funds carry far more risk and fees.
Man, I like Dave and he has good advice 90% of the time but I think he is wrong about BTC, just like he was wrong about PayPal.

@@ladycatfish2896 More dollars can be printed, devaluing the currency. Only 21 million bitcoins can ever exist, and people are losing them from losing access to their wallet, so the circulating supply is more around 18 million, making them more valuable.
On February 14, 2014, the price of a bitcoin was about $654. If you had invested just $5000 and sold last year, you would have walked away with upwards of $115,000. If you sold now during the "crash", you would have still walked away with about $76,000.
How much would you have had if you sold at the 15k crash? In November 2023 it's at $37,000 which makes me wonder how long before THAT'S considered the "crash" 😂

I love it how Dave always ends such rants with "This is the Ramsey show" (a.k.a "God has spoken.") But admittedly, Bitcoin was fairly risky to invest in nine years ago. On the whole, listening to Dave is a good idea. I also like his stance on credit cards. Very glad I didn't follow his advice on Bitcoin though.

Oh boy, this didn’t age well!
It is important to add, people started using bank notes as currency and not always bringing the notes back in to recive their gold or whatever else they deposited in the bank. So the banks got gready and sneaky and startedt lending out more money than they were actually taking in. However, as they started to push this further and further eventually they got caught unable to honor there own bank notes. So if the banks weren't so dishonest and gready they wouldn't have gone belly up.
Btw they still do this today. It's called fractional reserve banking and it how the banks get to make tons of money all while destabilizing and inflating the dollar.

Smart guy but very very ignorant on bitcoin
Bitcoin is a currency and Mt Gox was a company.
Thousands of companies accept bitcoin and I use it for all my online shopping. I can buy from overstock directly but if I want to buy from amazon I go through gyft and buy a gift card. When I buy my gift card with bitcoin I get 3% back. Sure there was a bubble in 2013 but the value has dropped to a more sane level while the network continues to grow. Bitcoin is just another currency only it doesn't need government force to give it value. The value of bitcoin is the network. And sure one hipster blew up mt gox but bitcoin is still roaring along.
Ok, it's 3 years later. Bitcoins paid off my house and if the usual pattern holds I'll be retired in about 6 months. Retired at 54. I like the sound of that.

Fifthelement203, like many people, you're missing the point of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. It's not meant to be an investment, it's an alternative currency. The appeal of it is that all transactions can be tracked through the block chain, but no individual transactions can be traced back to any actual individuals through the magic of cryptography.
Now, is it perfect? Absolutely not. There are many issues with Bitcoin and the like that are currently being hashed out between the different crytocurrencies. However, the future of it as a viable, usable currency that's completely untraceable and regulated by central banking is looking more and more bright every day. This is why you're seeing the price of cryptocurrency skyrocket. People are starting to understand the benefits of an economy that lacks central control.

How is gold the same as Bitcoin? It's only since the 70s we got off the gold standard. How quickly people forget the unique properties makes gold and silver differ from all others for thousands of years. Gold will never worth zero, but dollars and Bitcoin will, 100% of the time.

Interesting. First off, his comparison of Bitcoin to fiat currency is wrong. Fiat currency is issued by and controlled by its issuing government. Bitcoin is stateless, trustless, and is neither issued nor controlled by any single entity, therefore it is about as far from the Iraqi Dinar as you could get.
Second, this was published on the last day of February 2014. If Dave had "wasted" $1,000,000 on Bitcoin that day, it would be worth roughly $14,567,100 today.
