My metal journey started with SOAD, their mix of so many genres like even black metal or prog rock is amazing. After 10 years listening to them I apprieciate Mezmerize more than anything else. Judson should definitely listen Lost in Hollywood or Radio/Video. I love also Daron and Serj harmonies on this album.
I really like yalls intros and Judsons music and Richards relaxed look while he listens. No dumb chants or coordinated yelling to introduce your channel.
Would love to see you guys listen to Spiders from their self titled album from 1998. If you want to stay with this Mezmerize/Hypnotize: Soldier Side needs to be adressed (both songs)
there are a couple of songs by SOAD where you can ALWAYS tell when the musician is sitting there trying to figure out what the hell is going on with the time signature. this one is... chefs kiss perfect.
great song, I totally forgot about this one. of course Richard wears his TBDM hoodie when he mentions the patreon requests 😩 now I'ma have to get on there to request songs like "I'm Charming" or "Everything Went Black" 🤠
Love your reactions and the songs you choose! I would be eternally grateful if you picked a song from Burst in the future. Their last album Lazarus Bird from 2008 is a true masterpiece - would recommend "I exterminate the I" or "(We watched) the silver rain". They were always criminally underrated and not well known, it's a true hidden gem for progressive metal enthusiasts.
Feels to me like it's about irrational 18th and 19th century fears about new technologies at the time. People worried that electricity would steal your soul or burn the atmosphere, or that flying in a plane would kill you etc.
Love a bit of System. Saw them at a festival many years ago when you could legally buy magic mushrooms, but remember very little other than they had a very colourful set.
Dude this shit is so good. I was so into the intro song, like meditating I forgot what I was doing and was like just thinking.... Lol. I am high right now. Judson is hilarious
Havent heard that song in a while. Crazy time. After 9/11. So much emotion. I contemplated not long after the attacks what would happen to music. It looks like people got a lot less adventurous
Nice intro piano player & reactions. ( P/S : This prolly my one of my *Top 3 S.o.A.D* songs & also I adores underrated #GreenDay song called _Viva La Gloria (Little Girl)_ ) 🥹🥲🥹🥲🥹
Good video... SOD it's top... The vocals have in very musics a lalala... clear... But I waiting for your reaction to another band... A band that century break the limit prog music... The Mars Volta.
Another great video I love system of the down such a fun band to listen to you said you're only taking requests from patreon I'll throw some at you one more time on TH-cam I think you... might enjoy heaver Stuff that's why I suggested one of my top three bands Testament and one of my favorite bands not so heavy but incredibly musically talented guitar, piano, singing savatage think about it
Judson, your real personality is coming thru and it makes me more interested in your guys videos! I told many of my friends about this channel! Keep this up, love your perspective 😊
Hey Richard, I forget how I initially discovered this track, but we have basically the same taste in music and I think you would really like this track.. Its only found on bandcamp and really no info on the band. Song is: le' dernier cri (pt. 1) by Ivan. Give it a spin
Wow! I just finished listening to it. I’m going to have to find out more about them. It’s like a technical/progressive version of Emery. Such a cool song. Thank you so much!
Omg he hasn't finished his intro piano yet and I know this will be great! Such an overlooked SOAD track. You should show him Berlin's "Metro" followed by SOAD's cover. It's tasty.
Cool! SOAD, whenever I hear them, I always hear , The Dead Kennedys, and Megadeth/Metallica, cross breed, plus Armenian heritage ! Don’t shoot me, my interpretation!
When it comes to songs like this.. I sometimes wish you'ld do the music video as well.. cause it's an awesome little fairy tale.. and yeah.. SOAD has some "£%$-up music vidoes.. referring to "Spiders" now..
I agree. I showed him Ego Death from Polyphia yesterday and he loved it. I know it’s not the same thing but it makes me think he would love The Brain Dance.
This is my first time on this channel. I like the approach. Hasvthis man I assume is classically trained beem exposed to a selection of the original likeup of Black Sabbath?
sometimes it is hard to divide death and black metal out, they share a lot of similar musical concepts. lots of minor scales, high shrieking, often times shitty production (not always), tremolo lingering on single notes, blast beats? probably black metal. more guttural vocals, more bass heavy low end, also "fatter" on the production site, but still very fast, often also tremolo picked and blast beats do feature, but more of a discernible groove and rhythmic variety? probably death metal. say a band like Emperor or Darkthrone and compare them to a band like Cannibal Corpse or Death and then tell me in what parts thez are similar and in what parts different. then re-engineer that to what you think is Death or Black Metal (without looking it up before). that would be my kind of suggestion. I am also oblivious as to what era or style a piece of classical music would be. Is it a Rondo, a sonata, does this come from the baroque era or more of a romanticism piece? without looking that up I would probably also be clueless.
When he asked me that question, I thought “I can tell the difference when I hear it but putting it into words on the spot seems impossible”. This is better than I ever could have explained it. Thank you.
Goatwhore! 🤘I bought that hoodie when I saw TBDM on the Everblack tour. Drank some cheap whiskey with Trevor after the show that night. Some good memories attached to that hoodie.
@@Greatmeasures Saw them twice. Once at a festival in 2009 and once at a small club. Got to meet Trevor after the show. He was so amazing to the fans and took the time to get pictures and autographs for anyone who asked. The world is down a great person

you guys are a dynamic duo, i think we need Richard to react to some of Judsons favorite music, could be pretty entertaining!?
I’m waiting on Judson to find what he wants me to hear. It’s just a matter of time.
@@Greatmeasuresgotta try something off that Beck album!
Question! Has always been one of my favorites from SOAD. Such a unique and interesting song out of one of the more interesting and unique bands.
These videos are truly a place for my soul to rest and just enjoy some good old music and entertaining commentary. A very relaxing fix.

System Of A Down, play Armenian 🇦🇲 folk metal, but then I would argue that it isn’t even metal it’s probably just heavy folk 😅
