Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the MORryde X-Factor Crossmember. This is designed to support your factory hangers on your trailer. You'll have hangers if you have a tandem-axle trailer. You'll have six hangers, three on each side, and they're attaching your leaf springs to the trailer. So you have one on the back holding the leaf spring, one in the middle holding the equalizer, and one at the front holding the other end of your leaf spring.
So essentially, what these are designed to do is they're basically a precautionary measure. There's not really a ride performance that you're gonna feel when they're mounted up. It's just literally just to support the factory hangers that are there. You can see on these that they actually have a triangle gusset that's welded in them. So from the factory, they've got a little bit more, but there are a lot of trailers out there that still have your simple U-shaped bracket that is just welded to the frame.
It doesn't have any additional support. And if you've seen any of the accidents that can happen if these fail, they are very, very bad. So adding these to your trailer, if you've got a particularly heavy trailer, it's even more important You add these to your trailer, you can add as many as you want, you can add. I typically would recommend at least adding two, if not three. Another recommendation that I like to make is to switch your suspension out for the Roadmaster Comfort Ride, and that is going to replace your whole leaf spring system with a much better system.
You can get it with or without shock absorbers. And the shocks really, really helps. It'll change your leaf spring, your traditional double-eye leaf spring into a slipper leaf spring, and it's gonna come with four shocks, one for each tire, essentially. It's going make it so much more comfortable. Well, what you can do if you do that upgrade, I would also recommend putting these on there just to stiffen it.
And that goes for if you upgrade the suspension to anything different. I recommend stiffening these hangers so that you know you're good when you're going down the road. As far as the installation goes, this installation is not very difficult at all. It's definitely one you can do from the ground in your driveway. If you're doing more than one, it might be worthwhile to take your wheels and tires off. It just gives you a lot more room to work. But really, with that being said, I'll go ahead and show you how to get one of them installed. To begin our installation, for this process, you're gonna do the same for however many you're doing. It doesn't install any different on the center hanger than it does from our end hanger. So we've got two of ours installed already, and we're gonna be showing you how to do the third one. What you wanna do is we've got ours up in the air so it's very easy for you guys to see, and so that our videographer can get under here very clearly and show you what we're doing. But if you're doing this from the ground, just put a jack stand or a floor jack right underneath here, and you're gonna take off some of the weight of the suspension. What you can do is you can lift by the frame, whatever you wanna do, but you want the suspension to be able to raise and lower so that we can get this bolt out and get our new bolt in. What we're gonna do, since ours is up in the air, is I'm gonna take a strap and just slide it around our hanger here, and then I'm going to put it up here. And this is gonna allow us to hold up the weight of our axle so that when we go to take our bolt out, I can adjust it with this ratchet strap. (strap clicking) Depending on what kind of hardware you have holding your leaf springs in place, you may or may not have to use a different size than what we're using. We're using a 13/16 and a 13/16 on the. Or excuse me, in 11/16 on the inside. (drill whirring) Now, we're gonna take a hammer and start to knock this bolt out. There are blinds on the other side biting into the metal, so this can be pretty difficult sometimes. (hammer banging) This is usually a good sign of if you have good up pressure or if you don't have enough if this bolt comes straight out or not.

Good video! Two suggestions. 1. If you're going to take out the original wet bolt, spend the money and replace the bushings too. 2. When you greased the wet bolt at the end of the video, it doesn't look like the bolt wasn't taking grease and it pumped out onto the head. If you don't see grease coming out between the spring and hanger, you need to investigate.
