"Good morning everyone"
"Goooood moooooorning Miss. Thompson"
"You all sound asleep!"
"GoOoOoD mOoOoOoRnInG mIsS. tHoMpSon!"
British assemblies 101
My Toothbrush Is Blue I actually have a geography teacher called miss Thompson lmao
Yep
Yes i remember. though we'd say borrrrrreeeeee dddaaaaaa Miss Thompon. Bore daaaaa frinnnddaaau
i'm from Wales. that means "good morning miss thompson. good morning friends"
Ours went
GOOD MORNING MISS THOMPSON. AND EVERYBODY.
My Toothbrush Is Blue I'm miss Thompson ool
Growing up British
Sitting on hard wood floors singing pure Jesus anthems when you weren't even religious
Then when the teacher would ask the class who was actually baptised and if you weren't the teacher would shun you.
Yesss
+CallumCat I begged my mum to let me be baptised so I wouldn't be left out. Instant regret.
So true
I hated assembly and this is why
That moment you get to year 6 and have the privilege of sitting on the wooden benches. At that point you know you have made it.
Even better was getting to secondary school and getting to sit on the soft comfy chairs in the theatre.
We had to sit on the floor from p1 to p6 and the kindergarteners (our British school had kindergarten) got to sit on the benches when they joined us for assembly
The year sixes got the dirty area at my school
🤣🤣 yesss!
In wales it was
Bore da pawb
Bore da Mrs Roberts
But like rlly stretched out
Americans : We PlEdGe AlLeGiAnCe To ThE fLaG
Britons : WAKE UP WAKE UP GIVE YOURSELF A SHAKE UP
That you were singing Chop Suey for a second there
Them songs
OKAY BRITISH PEOPLE
WHO REMEMBERS HARVEST FESTIVAL SONGS
THEY WERE THE BEST
|-/
OMG YEAAASSSS!!!!
YES OMG!!!
For harvest would you gather foods for different associations (like for the elderly) etc? Or was that like just my primary school?
And the Easter ones!
"good mooooorning mrs smiiiiiiithhhhh"
"you all sound like you're asleep!"
"good mOOORNING mrs smIITHHHHH"
*my primary school experience in a whole*
emily hates people in my primary school I had to say good morning in welsh.... it went like this
borE DAA MRS PENELOPE BORE DAAAA PAWWWWWWBBBBBBB
emily hates people yess
emily hates people SAAAAAAMMMEEE it was like good MORning miss steWART-MORgan
emily hates people || *TRUUUUU*
We had to say "good morning friends" after it , it was so cringe
I learned how to lip sync because of hymns in assembly.
Me too. Once I had to stay in at break because a teacher caught me.
Same
Same, I was in Catholic school but I wasn't Catholic and that's when I realised I should lip sinc instead. Most of the kids weren't Catholic actually but apparently no one else cared.
I got in trouble when I didn't sing in the Christmas assembly and had to sit outside.
My first primary school was really Christian so I learnt how to lip sync there, it was a shock to me where my second primary school didn’t do that
Yeah
*America enters the chat*
America: I like my country.
*Britain enters the chat*
Britain: IT'S ANOTHER HARVEST FESTIVAL
America: Oh no.
*America has left the chat*
Game and Animate you are so iconic lollllll🤣
This.
This is pure gold
Oh, my memories.
Game and Animate what the fuck even was a harvest festival, like I'm British and song the song and we even did a play, but I never knew what the fuck a harvest festival was
@Gaming In Scotland That is a excellent question now I think about Wtf is harvest festival. All we ever did was sing songs.
If you sat on a bench you were practically royalty staring at the peasants below you
OR when you sat on the floor with barely any space and someone kicked you in the back and you were petty so you SAT ON THEIR FEET
...idk about you but I did that XD
Isabel Hopkins and when those year 5s tried to sneak on you'd roast them
Minty Games good times
Isabel Hopkins the yr 6's sit on benches
Isabel Hopkins Year 6 we felt like we were God's while the little kids sat on the floor
Isabel Hopkins that was the best part Y6, just getting to sit on the benches coz the floor was always uncomfortable
Assemblies in Primary school are way much better than Secondary school. In Secondary school we just have to listen to teachers rant about behaviour.
In Primary school Reading out the House points was like the most important thing
Edit: jeez this got a lot of likes
Ella Georgia THIS IS SO DAMN TRUE
I swear you guys went to hog warts I went to primary in Scotland and we legit sung hymns and prayed and the head teacher went on about Jesus and would say like if there was a school fair 😂
So true!
Way too true!
What d’ya mean House Points?!? We just got rambling on cold hard bleachers that hurt after only 5 minutes. Nothing changed since elementary school (primary (I think)) just rambling on about recycling and behavior and grades and blah blah blah
Keep on singing
THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE
IM GONNA LET IT SHINE
Jason Rowley omggg yesss
Yesssss...
The amount of times I sung that in my primary school is ridiculous xD
Omg yesssss
Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!!!
You have unlocked a memory I forgot I had.
Thank you
Omg!!! We sang that!!! I'm Scottish
Who remembers (British)
Cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green,
Strawberry’s sweeter than any I’ve seen,
Beetroot purple and onions white,
They all grow merrily day and night,
Apples are ripe and the plums are red,
Broad beans are sleeping in there blankety bed!🤣
Outstanding
Omg and I still know the words to it 😂
Cokers, were collecting conkers, I'm trying hard to find the biggest and the best
forgetting the loud SHHHHHHH after "broad beans are sleeping in their blankety bed"
...unacceptable.
Yess omg cauliflowers fluffyyyy and cabbages greennnn😂🤣
Why is no one talking about the absolute banger of a tune?
“He’s got the whole world in his hands, he’s got whole wild world in his hands”
IT WAS SO GOOD
Yas! Also you may not of heard this one but water of life
In his hand he's got you and me brother !
I rrmember this in my school we used to do religion until year 1 or 2
I always think of the movie Con-Air
and then there would be some cheeky little boy with ginger hair who would sing “he’s got the whole word in his pants”
How many people sang along s with "HES GOT TJE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS"
Olivia Holden how many people sang along with all of the uk songs?
Me 😂
Olivia Holden MEEE!!
I sang “he’s got the whole world in his pants”. I was cool like that.
Me lol I sang with all of the songs that she was playing 😂
"One more step along the world I go,
One more step along the world I go,
From the old things to the new,
Keeeeeep me traveling along with you.
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
Keep me traveling along with with you"
ABSOLUTE BANGER
Happy Industries YES
The year 4’s got to sing this in the last assembly at lower school (reception-yr4) and we a
each got given a dictionary that everyone would sign
I forgot about this one too 😂👌🏻
I FORGOT THIS EXISTED YOU HAVE JUST UNEARTHED A LONG LOST MEMORY I THANK YOU
I'd totally forgotten about this! My absolute jam!
When u get in trouble in assembly and the teacher tells u to stand up in front of so many children was the most awkward and funniest thing for me😂
Did anyone else hate sitting cross legged? I can remember getting pins and needles so badly that I'd take my shoes off so I could rub my feet and actually LIMP back from the assembly hall because I couldn't put any weight on my foot without excruciating pain. I don't know if I just had poor circulation or what, but I always seemed to have more trouble than all the other kids in my class.
I used to just put my legs further out, I would get told off for it but I did it regardless. I never didn't anything actually bad in school, just ignored teachers when it came to pointless rules and instructions I didn't like. xD
I did xD
It was so tempting to kick the person sat in front of my
the worst part is how u spend six years of primary waiting until you get to sit on the benches in yr 6, only to find that they're just as uncomfortable as sitting on the floor
asdfghjkllila In year six at my primary school we still sat crossed legged. Then you went to high school and had chairs! Until my high school decided to put the world's most uncomfortable chairs in the hall. The one's that curve into your back. Now at Uni and they have those chairs for lectures!
You have not felt pain until you have had an assembly about a fixed or growth mindset.
You are so right. Problem is I am 32 and had that assembly 6 months ago in work! 😂
saucygibbon56 aha 😂
We had to spend a whole day in high school doing activities about this, it was torture 😭
OMG yes our school introduced this when I was in Yr 6 so I only had a year of torture
Had that recently
Was it really only my school that was forced to sing the "School Rule Song"?
I haven't seen one comment about it, yet we sang it every day in our assemblies (Primary School).
is that 'we will get along much better when we can obey the rules' because i saw another comment and yeah its a bop
It was fun to sing but I thought it was a bit fucked up because like,,, indoctrination and that. I mean it's not that deep but still
Saaaammmeeee we had to sing that in primary school everyone loved the song cause they would shot the song instead of sing it and the teachers would just regret them having us to sing but it was the best
Yeah I think we did
We sang this lol
GIVE ME OIL IN MY HEART KEEP ME BURNING, HES GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS, RED AND YELLOW AND PINK AND GREEN, PURPLE AND ORANGE AND BLUE I CAN SING A RAINBOW SING A RAINBOW, SING A RAINBOW TOO
I- this is too accurate
She’ll be coming round the mountain when she comes
She’ll be coming round the mountain when she comes
Aye aye aye yippee ayeee
that brings back memories
She’ll be coming round the mountain, she’ll be coming round the mountain, she’ll be coming round the mountain when she comes 🎶
Libby she’ll be riding six white horses when she comes, she’ll be riding six white horses when she comes, she’ll be riding six white horses, riding six white horses, riding six white horses when she comes, singing aye aye yippy, aye aye yippy, aye aye yippy yippy aye!
I remember singing that, but not all of the verses.
EllieVlogs my favourite song...
Anyone in England sing 'cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green, strawberrys sweeter than any I've seen'
Yesss
+Cara Malone what song is that? it sounds so familiar.
Yes😂
Used to be my favourite in infant school :D
YES😂
when by bum used to hurt so much sitting on the hard floor in assemblies😂
Lucky in secondary I’ll have chairs😪😂😂
We didn't get hard benches till year 10 and only year 11s got chairs!
Doøfus Doofman‽ woah unlucky 😭😪
@@sadiachous11 I know. It makes the y11s Soooooo cocky!
We had assembly after lunch in the lunch hall and the cleaners did a really bad job
Hey it's Morgan oooppp
Give me joy in my heart keep me praising
Give me joy in my heart I pray
Give me joy in my heart keep me praising
Keep me praising til the break of day
Sing Hosana
Sing Hosana
(Etc, it’ll take too long to write)
I also remember the rainbow song in Yr R I thought it was just a recent thing (well as recent as some years ago can be).
Some Speed artist also the part that goes keep the oil in my lamp keep it burning etc
Some Speed artist SING HOSANA TO THE KING OF KINGS
My Methodist Nana used to sing that--"Give me joy in my heart!" while scrubbing our faces when we visited her"
at 5:41...we had to sing "Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning"
and the chorus was "Sing Hosanna (x3) to the Lord above"
Malfoy, Draco Malfoy
i know these lyrics cuz my mom and gramdma are super religious so we listened to jesus songs in the car. and we hand hand motions to like everything
malfoy, Draco malfoy
p.s watch Harry Potter jokes
Kamna Joshi Yes. We had to sing loads of hymns at school because I went to a very religious school
THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE
IM GONNA LET IT SHINE
THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE
IM GONNA LET IT SHINE
....anyone? 😂
+Izzy this was one of my favourite songs!! we learnt in choir before the rest of the school and those in the choir sang along when the teacher was playing it for everyone - that's what it was to be cool!!
On Monday he gave me the gift of love
Tuesday peace came from above
On Wednesday he told me to have more faith
On Thursday he gave me a little more grace
On Friday he told me to watch and pray
On Saturday he just what to say
On Sunday he gave me the power divine
Just to let my little light shine
Yaaaaaaaa 😂
THAT WAS AT SUNDAY SCHOOL YAASSS
My shit in primary school
"Cauliflowers and roasted potatoes taste so good to me, it's another harvest festival". That that was a banger
Where we bring our fruits and vegetables
Omg yes such a vibe
Who else had any of these things:
Golden time
Golden tickets
Star of the week
Music duty or any other schools duty
A pet for the kids in reception
Pantomimes once a year
Open the book
I had golden time, star of the week, school duties and pets in reception.
Now I have GCSEs ):
Golden time (except when It was cancelled in Yr 6). Open the book (only in ks1). Duties - we had door during for the highest class. They had to sit by the door and let kids in to use bathroom etc. And a couple of my friends and I did office duty where we legit just sat in the office while the office staff had lunch and we got to answer phones.
Pantomimes every year - yes. Just yes.
I had the first 3.
my primary school had golden time, a pantiome and recently (last year) they got a dog
Ah, music duty! Handing out the hymn books and taking them back in. Fairly nice job, actually.
1. Being on the bench in year 6 was awesome, but if you misbehaved, you had to sit on the floor with all the younger kids.
2. KUMBAYA
3. being on projector duty meant you were the boss of the school that entire week.
Yes! So true!
We were forced to sit on the floor from ages 4-13.
Then in secondary school we have to stand for like half an hour
Kumbaya my lord kumbaya
Omfg i had to do the projector for the whole year. It was lit af
+Aliyah laing someone's singing lord kombaya oh lord kombaya
Do any Brits remember singing " this little light of mine in gonna let it shine"
+haleem hussain That feeling when you were able to clap in time perfectly...
+Gemma Stewart as I was like the only musical person in my year I was the one who had to be at the from and sing With the music teacher and would be the one to put everyone in beat
I remember singing this at Brownies! (or Girl Guides)
+haleem hussain yeah it was one of my fav
omf yes
Dodie: Did you have music walking when in?
Evan: What like the final countdown?
Me: *Sips tea remembering he I walked into my yr6 leavers assembly to that song.*
I literally knew what Dodie was talking ab when she said she broke her arm 😂 (I’m American) We would all sit on the mat, but because I broke my arm, I got to sit on a chair and I literally felt like a 1st grade queen 😂 it felt like so much power lol.
in my primary school, my year 4 teacher played mission impossible whilst we got changed for PE. you had to be dressed by the end of the song, or you went out in what you had on.
Sameeee
That's amazing wtf
+Phanreon it was bloody scary
+Abbie- Leigh THE WAS A COMMON THING?! WHY????!!!!!!
+Andrew Buist on April fools they did it for 10 second they are all savage
At my British primary school, everyone would have cloakroom pegs to put coats/bags on and every year there were different images on for each class
JetSlinger7654 yesss! Drove primary school!
I'm 26, and I can even remember the picture I had for my peg in nursery before I even started primary school! it was a yellow lemon! and to this day all these years later! when ever I see a lemon, all I can think of is my coat peg I had at nursery when I was 3-4 years old!!!
yass samee
JetSlinger7654 yup
JetSlinger7654 YEEESSSS
Nothing:
Legit nothing:
Primary singing assemblies:
I'M ONE OF A KIND I'M COMING ALIVE
I'm british and don't recall ever being told of this "talk to frank" thing
Did anyone else in the UK have that song that went "We are the children from (insert school name here) school, we take good pride in the things we do, learning together and having fun"......
Omg yes I remember
OMG I THOUHT IT WAS ONLY MY SCHOOL " who's for a good day EVERYONE! "
+Hannah Empsall SAAAAAMMMEEEE WE SANG THAT SONG EVERY YEAR IN THE LAST ASSEMBLY TO SAY BYE TO THE YEAR 6's
Yes omg, did u do 'wake up wake up give yourself a shake up its a beautiful morning'
+LPS pegasister YES ME TOO AHH IN THE LEAVERS ASSEMBLY
Getting to sit on benches in year 6 and looking at everyone else like they were peasants
Esther we all had to sit on the floor
Yup but we had to fit like 40 people on three benches
Oh yeah
Yyeeeaaa
Did nobody else have the Lord's prayer song?
"Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name..."
Omg we had to sing that at the end of every assembly
Yep, that's Catholic primary for you. (despite like 80% of the kids not even being Christian)
Not singing but we would say it
I didn't, that sounds sooo fun lmao, but my school wasn't *technically* a religious school (except we sang tons of other Christian songs for kids lmao)
Our father who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses. So we will forgive those that trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. If thine is the kingdom the power and the glory. Forever and ever. Amen.
I’m thirteen and they are at least 7 years older than me and we sang all those songs when I was in primary school
Same!
washington's hat sounds like a discount hamilton song

@@student8663 Hmm, I can't remember. I'll have to find out and tell you 😂
Caitlin caT Together together were all here together
Is that the words can’t remember
@@ellie-maeowens1087 Yeah!
Together isn't that the one were u say welcome everybody its good to see u hear 3x gather in this place also anyone used to sing build up one another build up ur sister and brother build up one another buuiiild up,and use ur fists as like u put them on top of one another if u know what I mean. Wake up, U r a star, please miss someone took my pencil and I need it. Its good to be me it's good to be you it's good to be different but together, there's no need to be in anyone's shoes I'm happy to be the me I am etc etc. Leavers song in the leavers assembly,it makes me sad whenever I remember it coz all the memories in primary. There's obviously more songs we sang, my skl never sang hymes and stuff like that coz more than 90% were Muslims . Man I forgot about that one I miss primary skl so much in my skl the primary 6 and 7 sat on benches and primary 7 sat on chairs and sometimes primary 5s were lucky and sat on the benches. When I look back primary skl was the best and the skl lunch in my skl was the best and all halal, in primary I had to only worry about homework, now I have to worry about tests and exams and homework, the stress. Also anyone used to do like a show/play in primary 6 and 7, in primary 6 we did Dracula rock show I think it was called with the primary 7s and in primary 7 we did cinderalla rockafella, also like we had parents come to watch and they needed to get like a ticket etc also did other classes do assembly and like do something like show the other classes about what they learned and sometimes parents would be allowed to come and watch. Also we also had house points, dragons - green, wizards-blue, pegasus-red, phoenix-yellow. I was dragon-green. Living in Scotland Glasgow.
"He's got the whole world in his hands"
Then he should stop clapping! D:
"Good Morning Everyone"
"Good Moooorniing Mrs Grahaaam"
"I think you can do better than that! You sound half asleep!"
"GoOD mORnING MRS GRAAHAAAMM"
Hahahaha
This is the only one I remember from the comment section
LMFAO ACCURATE
Everyone in my school 😂
The teachers would always say that on a Monday!

BRITISH POTATOES STEP FORWARD! Remember in year 6 when you got to sit on the benches and look down on everyone like 'SUP PEASANTS "

U r not British if you dont know the harvest song.
Also its mad that we sang all the same songs.
I don't remember what it was called, but there was one app thing with the songs that was downloaded on the computers that all schools used.
How come all British primary schools sing the same songs? Lol
@@shukriismail4774 It's probably a couple of reasons, notably that we have a national school board that is pretty homogeneous and that a lot of the songs are Church of England hymns
I never sang that one I sang the "cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green"
CONQUERS! IM COLLECTING CONQUERS!
I know I'm late but does anyone remember *Wake Up* (British) in primary? I remember it being the first song we did:
Wake Up , Wake Up!
Give yourself a shake up!
Get your body moving.
Reach Up (You reach your hands up)
Jump Up (If standing, you jump)
Give your friends a thumbs up! (Thumbs Up to the kids next to you.)
It's another new day~
(Repeat.)
Get your feet
Dancing to the beat(We'd stomp our feet on the floor)
Get your body moving
Raise a shout
(HEY!)
Let your feelings out
It's another new day~
God that took forever. I swear I cant be the only person who sang this.
We still do that now! Oh, the horrors. The song would make me fall asleep more than 'wake up' . But when the lyrics go 'hey' everyone would scream as loud as they can. Now that woke me up.
Yes! Does anyone remember

at my school we didnt call them assemblies, we called them convocations. and we just went to the gym and sat in the bleachers. we only had them a couple times a year. We never EVER learned religious songs in school. we only learned patriotic songs , educational songs, and songs about rules.
SING HOSANA
SING HOSANA
SING HOSANA
SING HOSANA TO THE KING OF KINGS
*why is this entire song my life in primary school summed up*
My school in the midlands (uk) had milk when we were in reception (first year of school) and if you were the milk monitor you had to go and get the cartons of milk from the office. 😂 it was a prestigious role 😂
Beth Louise

Conkers we’re collecting conkers we’re trying hard to find the biggest and the best
Any brits remember this
Conkers, we're collecting conkers, I want a conker that's better than the rest, under the chestnut tree I reach to see the final conker to be mine. Asmist the autumn leaves I pull it free, and add it to my 99. 100!
Conkers, we're collecting conkers, I'm trying hard to find one better than the rest
OMUSJUSJWUEGEYD WE SUNG THAT
Me and my mate still have an ongoing joke about that song, we used to piss ourselves laughing because we thought 'conkers' referred to testicles.
Under the chestnut tree it waits for me
“HES GOT THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD IN HIS HANDS”
The nostalgia is all too real. Take me back to primary school already!
The lyrics are “listen with your eyes” because it was written for deaf people. It’s supposed to raise awareness for the deaf and people would use sign language for the lyrics. THE MORE YOU KNOW
I am now educated
We did all our hymns with sign language because we had a down syndrome kid in our year
I pledge allegiance... to the band... of Mr. Schneebly... and will not fight him... for creative control... and will difer to him in all decisions related to the musical direction of the band. It makes more sense to pledge to rock n' roll than to a country lol
Yep
+Avatar Jillian GOD BLESS YOU SIR
Oh my gosh, YES
Oh my god I totally forgot this was a thing wow
+Avatar Jillian OF THE BAND!
We just had weekly assemblies in Australia when people would receive awards, staff and students would make announcements and we’d sing the national anthem (but only in primary school)
Remembered that (exchange student in 2018)
British culture is listening to all the receptions singing the second “of kings”
Anyone in Scotland/ England sing this song:
Chorus
Wake up! Wake up!
Give yourself a shake up
Get your body moving
Reach up, jump up
Give your friend the thumbs up
Its another new day
(Repeat)
Verse
Get your feet
Dancing to the beat
Get your body moving
Raise a shout (HEY!)
Let your feelings out
Its another new day!
Chorus x2
Verse x1
Instrumental
Verse x2
Its another new day!

Omg did any one else do the harvest festival
Painful memories
Yeah and every year during harvest we would sing specific songs to do with it in singing assemblies and they were always the same each year. The only one I can remember rn though is harvest for the world
@@elenaobradovic4181 OMG yeah, me too. We always had one the same every year, and one different
Yea... super fun but super tiring
Helpahoe yes
My primary school had their own song!
Literally a specially written song celebrating the history of the school.
Jordie8396 me to but it was by my Latin teacher so 90 percent of it was in Latin
Same but everyone hated it and no one knew the lyrics. Good times.
it was a shit song.
I'm Dutch and both the US and UK stories sound wild to me. Unlike anything I experienced while in school.
The only similar thing I can think of was when my primary school was celebrating its 100 year anniversary and for one week we were doing all kinds of activities, games etc. from 100 years ago. One of the things was starting off the day with standing in line while they played the national anthem. There was a lot of giggling and laughing, but the teachers didn't mind. It was just meant for us kids to experience this funny thing from a long time ago. Kinda strange to think this kind of stuff still happens in the US today.
That's really interesting.
Anyone remember 'Lord of the dance'?
I AM THE LORD OF THE DANCE SAID HE AND I'LL LEAD YOU ALL WHEREVER YOU MAY BE AND I'LL LEAD YOU ALL IN THE DANCE SAID HE
+Rachael Rimmer YES! :")
I used to sing I am the Lord of the downstairs TV In like year 1-3

Our assemblies in Australia were always outside, had to sit on the ground and if it was raining assemblies would be cancelled. Most times they would just tell us all how well all the sporty kids, the surfers, were doing in state competitions (we had nothing else going for our public school)
