I love this performance. I just love the orchestration, the violins makes me feel like I'm peacefully swimming in a pool bliss at a high end Versace hotel in Paris. Plus his vocals are so raw and soulful that they sound like the soot of flour that has been left in frying oil after frying chicken. I love the original song as well. The original song makes me cry especially as the crying trumpet desperately sings as the song faded off. I first fully discovered this song on a rainy Tuesday in June 2015. My high school had went on a field trip to Spanish Harlem and we had ended our trip because it started pouring. Our coach bus was stuck in traffic hour and I decided to listen to my Pandora. Usually the song would come on and I would skip after the first second, but I decided to listen and give it a try and from that point, I was in love. While I listened to the song, the vibe of the song matched with the ambience of the setting as the rain continued to poor and gently roll down the windows of the bus. It felt like I was stuck in that moment of time. I will always love this song not only because it made me appreciate nature and it's surroundings, but this song is about a how his mother abandoned him a a little boy (true story). Plus this song was a smash hit and I believe it topped the Billboard Hot 100. Oh and this performance was right before Seal performed his legendary song "Crazy", both performances were part of some U.K. festival.
Mick wrote this song about his mother who left he and his father when he was about 3 years old and this explains the ongoing longing for the love of his mom and wondering what went wrong. I believe his family lineage traces back to Ireland, even though he’s from the UK.
as a fellow ginger haired lad I always wished to have had the pipes that god gave Mick...can`t wait to see some more of your vids....perhaps something from the aja album of steely dan

After he became famous he found out his mother lived in America, she still didn’t want anything to do with him. As a mother I cannot comprehend that.
@@sassybee1760 sad story.
The uk includes Ireland, well Northern Ireland, he has that Celtic soul
Love this song
This always gives me chills. How about " Something Got Me Started"," Moneys Too Tight to Mention"

I'm jellous of both his voice and hair, imagine being like about 60 and have those pipes and all that gorgeous red hair, very gifted.

MickLuv...it's not a nickname, it's a state of mind. ✌🏽
Whats so extraordinary is he sounds as amazing now, as he did when he first wrote and sang this song aged 17
