My family and I were scammed when the driver was already driving towards at the time Philippine Airlines only airport. The driver agreed to put the meter, then did not do it, and claimed our luggage was weighing down the taxi, so 50 pesos just for that. We told him, we were dropped off in the wrong airport, and our flight was about in an hour. As soon as he heard that, he stated, he doesn't normally drive fast, so he was charging an extra 50 pesos. I will let you know, he was not speeding. We had no choice, effectively we were taken hostage, and if he dropped us off, we would have missed our flight. There is no justification with these scammers, as it only enforces their bad behaviour.
Me and my girlfriend experienced the same thing! We were at the airport and about to go to our hotel. The driver won't pull over and told us he had a fix rate which is about $50 (2000+ pesos I think) It was only a 15 minutes drive so his rate didn't make sense at all. I was pissed but I didnt have the time to be mad cus it was Christmas anyway

Thank you so much Haley for exposing this devil scammer. Nabiktima na rin ako ng ilang beses ng mga scammer taxi drivers na yan. Panahon na para tumigil yang mga yan sa mali nilang gawain. Dapat pala tuwing sasakay ng taxi ay ibe-video hanggang sa mawalan ng lisensya ang lahat ng mga scammers at matira lang ang mararangal na taxi drivers.

Grab is a Singaporean company and Uber is US. Question: How come no Pinoy company started this type of ride-sharing business there? Am curious to know.

There's another video I saw just last night about another vlogger - Mike and Nelly of Making It Happen Vlog. The taxi driver was asking for a additional payment for the 'heavy' luggage when in fact the passenger helped him carried the two of the three luggages. 😡
Bakit po itong mga vlogger hindi mag vlog na pwede nilang tingnan na bakit ang mga taxi driver humihingi pa bang extra?
Why can't the vloggers ask the people who increase or regulate the taxi fares to do something to help ìdrivers earn a decent living.? That way you will be helping more families.
Instead as usual they vlog these types of incidents trying to sensationalise a desperate situation for the taxi driver while they earn monetary income from views and subs from you tube. They understand and they take advantage of this because they know that the majority of Filipinos are credulous and will fall for this type of sensationalism.
I find this so unfair because one party benefits from the other party's unfortunate circumstances instead of trying to help so both sides win. I'm also very angry that people can not see when they are being taken advantage of.
Help the taxi drivers instead of taking advantage of them to make more money for yourself. Find out why some are asking for more.

This happened to me in October last year in Terminal 2 white taxi driver again...I wanted to go to greenbelt 5 makati and the taxi driver said it is a set price of 1,000 pesos...Then and there I reacted and was surprised upon hearing this....I immediately told the driver to let me out and went to another taxi. It is sad that we have people like this...They insist it is a “help” or contribution to their livelihood but what about the passengers? Not all passengers can afford this scam. Thanks to Haley & AbsCbn for bringing this out.

He is only one of hundreds who are into this illegal practice. Ltfrb should intensify crackdown on these drivers especially on areas where foreigners often take cabs. Monreal can hardly contain his anger because his organization is basically the "initial impressions" of foreigners of our country, and these kind if drivers immediately give a very bad taste in the mouth of tourists/visitors. And they can't even spare locals, like us.
The sad truth is, I believe LTFRB lack the manpower to handle things like this. Besides their incompetence, they don't have the manpower to check these areas everyday. I think the best they can do is increase the penalty, revoke the license, suspend the franchise and impound the vehicle.

Deicidium lack of manpower?! There are even way too many people in that office than needed but they are slacking with their jobs and won't get on with it without grease money.
There are many people but not all of those are capable enough to go out in the field. Also, they need to cover other places/establishments like malls, offices etc aside from airport. This modus by white taxis are everywhere and with how corrupt and useless our LTFRB, this guy is the only one that will be punished because his vid went viral.

My partner and I also experienced that last year we were in PH for 2 weeks vacay. From MOA going to our hotel ayaw kami isakay kasi malapit lang daw pero kinokontrata kami ng taxi driver kung magkano ibabayad namin sabi ko gamitin ang metro to know how much we gonna pay, driver didn’t agreed on what I suggested he even told me to look for another one but I refused my partner and I decided to wait for grab. Kundi lang sa dami ng dala namin at mabigat hindi namn kami mag ask sana sa taxi 🚕 and it so happen mahina ang net. But we still made it to our hotel. Thank God! Much better to call for grab or uber next time kahit magbayad ng mahal or mag tip hindi nakaka hinayang safer and comfortable I must say.
I have never experienced this kind of taxi scam in the key cities of Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, Gen. San and Zamboanga. Thanks for the videos of Haley and Will.

I'm happy someone stood up for this. This is the very reason why I don't get international flights going to Manila. Just happy that there are direct flights now to Cebu. I had this experiences before and really traumatize myself kasi mismo yong driver pa yong nagagalit sayo pag pina on mo ang meter!!!

Nangyari yan sakin last Nov 2017, nireport ko sa LTFRB Manila ang taxi driver na nangontrata sakin from Manila Hotel to Naia 2. Kelangan ko pa daw umattend ng hearing para pormal na maaksyunan pero papano ako makakaattend e pauwi na ako ng Davao. Di ako sikat kaya hindi mabilis ang aksyon ng LTFRB. Paminsan din naiisip ko na pabibo ang LTFRB dahil vlogger ang naagrabyadO ngayn. Sana hindi kayo inconsistent mga maam at sir dyan sa LTFRB..

Wala naman ako magawa kase sa dami ng bagahe ko hirap na bumaba ulet at hahanap pa ng ibang taxi. Lesson na yan para sa marami. Kaya nga ba mas gusto na nga nakararami ang mag Grab at UBER kesa mag taxi dahil sa mga taong kagaya niya.
