    If you upload your print book file made from kindle create to kdp and use the previewer wouldn't that give you page count to give to cover designer? Since trim and paper type is already selected at this point. Then come back to upload the cover. Can it be done this way?

    Hi. I'm a little confused so I hope you can help. I just submitted everything to Amazon for my ebook. I did use Kindle Create. I'm now trying to turn the ebook into paperback. I've tried to change the TOC page as you have here but I don't see a file that saved as ebook MS file. I have the kindle create file kpf but my Microsoft Word will not open that file at all. What am I doing wrong?

    • @BookBeam
      @BookBeam  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Debbie, did you write your ebook in Kindle Create instead of MS Word? If not, just go back to your original MS Word file and continue from there. If yes, then you won't really be able to convert it to Word in an easy way. The best bet is too copy/paste it into word, re-do the formatting that's been lost, and adjust the TOC as needed.
      A downfall of KC is that it's a very 'young' software so it's still limited in many ways.

The book is way too big to resize every page manually. Is there a way to make the pages slightly smaller? I was looking at Kindle Create to see if there was a "trim" or "resize" option.

      It (KDP) does the pages for you based on the trim size you select (assuming you did select “page numbers” in the settings (in KC)). The trim size is selected in KDP and is your choice; a bigger trim size gives you less pages, as you can imagine.

      Yes, the page count of your book will impact the size of the spine of your cover (the part between the front cover and the back cover). You can just ask your designer to use the kdp cover template: kdp.amazon.com/en_US/cover-templates

      @@ravikant1793 I found a way to get paperback page count to give to your cover designer. Its easy just do this, upload the kindle create paperback file on kdp. Then launch the kindle cover creator. Make a dummy/test cover from any cover you see. Then save the cover. All you have to do then is open print previewer and at the bottom will be page count for cover designer. Last step upload your real pdf cover over the dummy cover when you receive it from your designer. Real easy steps! Be mindful after your real pdf cover is finished, if you go back and change book trim size the page count will change. Make sure ya stay with Same trim size and all setting you used to see the page count in print previewer.

    • @BookBeam
      @BookBeam  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David, for that you need to work on creating something called an "author platform". It's basically an authors audience across 1) social media (FB, Twitter, TH-cam etc.), 2) Email list 3) your website, and similar. Not easy or fast to create but it's something that pays off in the longterm.
      Alongside that you should also leverage the opportunities for traffic and sales within Amazon's system: keyword optimization (in the title, 7 meta keywords etc.), countdown deals (if you enroll in KDP Select), Amazon ads.

    • @therealtigertalk

    • @BookBeam

      I'd generally say Google ads more than likely will not be effective, they are too expensive at this point for advertising and selling books, if you're attempting to recoup ad cost only from book sales.
      Amazon ads have a much better chance at being effective for you since the people on the platform have a high intent to purchase, and they still not as expensive as Google ads.
