I've repaired a lot of appliances and electronics. This is by FAR the best, most technically descriptive video posted on any device. This is beyond trouble shooting, It describes the function of each component and shows how to test it. Nothing is left out!!
I've collected several non-working Keurig's from garage sales and with the help of your video, I now have a perfectly good functioning machine...all-toll...about $5 bucks and plenty of spare parts...More often than not, I get them free. Thanks, makes for a good rainy day project! I also enjoy working on old vacuum-tube-type radio's...
Nice work, and extremely thorough walk-through of the Keurig. It's refreshing to find someone on TH-cam who actually knows what they're talking about for a change. I really appreciated your effort and the time you put into making this video. Having done things like this for a living (degree in Electronics Engineering), I can relate and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks again!!!
I know Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Dwayne Mateo Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I too really liked the extra details you provided (e.g. the three different level probes in the heater tank). I fully agree with other viewer's comments: "refreshing to find someone on TH-cam who actually knows what they are talking about"! I also appreciate the way this training was delivered, e.g. great lighting, camera angles, clear audio, good speaking pace, clearly pointing out the subject of each set of comments, etc. The bottom line... quality of this training is really just off-the-charts and pure goodness!

A tip for everyone with the slow/no brew problem. After pressing Brew and the machine finishes pumping and actually starts to brew, hold your finger over the overflow tube. To get my 'VERY Slow flowing/dripping K145 Keurig to brew, I had to hold my finger over the overflow outlet at top of tank. It turns out this was caused by my solenoid leaking air thru it when it was supposed to be closed/ not energized (during brewing). My K145 had only one solenoid, but this video helped me disassemble the K145 and showed me how to test the solenoid. HUGE Thank You. Great Video. Only (this) one I found that did a dis-assembly and showed what internal parts did -or- should do! So if descaling, cleaaning both upper and lower needles and verifying your tank's screen is not clogged, it may well be your solenoid. Used ones are +/- $10 on ebay.
One of the best videos I've watched here. Very informative and just what I needed to test all the components on my Keurig B60. I agree with many others saying "to the point" and no BS. Thank you, I'll be watching your other videos soon. You are also not boring to listen too, like many others that do this~
I truly appreciate your video & information regarding this coffee maker. I just have an issue with some manufactures that do not have service manuals available. btw I service electronic computers & devices for the past 25yrs, it amasses me how manufactures deliberately denied those manuals to certified individuals. Outstanding video !!
Great job! My Keurig wouldn't work any more (no water flow at all) after de-scaling, and nothing else worked until I followed your instructions. Turns out that the inside of the heating tank was heavily scaled up, in spite of frequent de-scaling efforts. I cleaned out the scale buildup, put everything back together, and it works like new. Thanks!!
On the Keurig 2.0, that thermal fuse (on the heater) connects directly to the hot side of the power cord. If that fuse is blown, nothing on the machine will work. No Screen, no power to the board, pumps, nothing. I used a non contact voltage tester and followed the path from the power cord to the + side of the thermal fuse and the voltage stopped on the other side of that thermal fuse. Made for an easy diagnosis and and fix for around $1.50 and back in business again. Very good video and since mine was apart, was easy to follow most of the other components! A++++ review
I was going to fix my Keurig & thought lets make a video about it. Well you Sir have taken already care of this better than I ever could've! Hat's off! From detail, audio, lighting, angle you haven't missed a spot. This was very refreshing to watch as it was done to perfection. Thank you and keep up the GREAT work.

Found the problem in the very first test. Nobody ever explains in many of the online instructions how to separate the K-cup holder to allow access the needle. Bingo, full of grounds. I ran a paperclip up from the bottom hole and saw it come out the side of the needle in a place I couldn't see before. Thank you so much!
get the needle cleaning tool that a lot of them came with or can buy it. you put water in it and it uses suction to pull coffee grounds out of needle. a lot easier then paperclip.
6 year old video and im just finding you now? This is one of the best videos ive seen. Very detailed, great descriptions, video, audio and lighting. You sir have a new subscriber and I'm looking forward to more content.

Our Keurig coffee maker wasn't making coffee with the pods. I did find that the reusable ones we bought worked fine. The other half was ready to throw it out. I had a feeling it was an easy fix and found your video. I only needed to go as far as the paperclip part, although I did use a toothpick thinking it might be a little more gentle and I couldn't find a paperclip as easily as a toothpick. My machine works great now. Thank you! We are on a pretty tight budget so buying a new one would have taken some doing.
Outstanding video! Finally somebody who knows what they're talking about. Most of the "repair" videos for these things consist of somebody poking around and finally recommending standing on one foot and tapping the side of the unit with a silver spoon. This is actually helpful.
+Doug Alan You're correct. This video should be getting thousands of views. Most people do not know about this video. I have seen many of the other videos, and my video definitely rates at the top. Thanks
This video exposed how much more there was to repairing this same model. I was so happy to have had it. It finally quit pumping water at all, leading me to believe it’s the exact same pump since everything else worked. You should see the new one I got to replace it yesterday. It makes Fisher Price look like it’s for adults. I got it from Amazon for $105.00. The model in the video is a Cadillac. The new one is a Chevy cavalier.
Thank you my friend you save me a hundred bucks and I enjoyed taking the machine apart and cleaning it. I do home repair , but I've never taken a Keurig apart and now thanks to you mine is running excellently.

Best video on how to do a Keurig full deep clean hands down! This is above and beyond what I was looking for. Refreshing to find someone who really knows their stuff especially when dealing with electronics.

@@electronicsNmore will do. Thank you! The problem most people have with many “how to” videos is in the details, things omitted, not well explained etc. you show things clearly, and explain. Most importantly you know of what you speak which is obviously important but not necessarily a reality in many videos!
By far, one of the best tutorials I have found yet! Very easy to understand and right to the point. I should have followed this before I attempted to take apart my B60 by a different video.
Great video. I never would attempt to disassemble my Keurig, without watching your vid first. No need to drill out the rivet that holds the ground wires. Snip the wires with a wire cutter. At the plate, twist (or solder) the three wire stubs. At the other side of the cut, do the same thing. Connect a crimp-on terminal to each set of 3 wires. Now next time you need to remove the bottom plate, just pull the connector apart. When reinstalling the plate, connect the 2 connectors together. Oh yea, the thing on the left that holds water, that you removed after making sure the cup and funnel were not clogged, and before doing anything else. It's not a "side." It's a water reservoir.
Great to hear! I have MANY videos that cover a wide range of subjects, so be sure to look over my video playlists below, and most importantly share. Thank you th-cam.com/users/electronicsnmoreplaylists
Excellent video: detailed, contiguous, audible, great camera angle and lighting, removal of fasteners explained but edited out. Nice work. I have bookmarked it. Think a solenoid replacement is in our very near future. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! I have many videos on my channel that cover a wide range of subjects, so be sure to check them out below and share. Thank you th-cam.com/users/electronicsnmoreplaylists
Great vid. No wasted time talking about nonsense like in just about all the other "how to fix your Keurig" vids. Shows respect - my time is extremely valuable to me. You don't waste any of it. Thank you!!
I've fixed several of these units and it has ALWAYS been the solenoid. I check them first. Keurig could fix this, but that wouldn't sell units. I order them on ebay for about $8 or so for a new one. Great job as usual!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to post it. Anyone who gave your video a thumbs down were obviously overwhelmed by the "Highly Detailed" (as noted in your description) professional and technical information. They should have just left without having to be negative. I think they would be someone who couldn't figure out if an on/off switch was on (if there was one).

Glad you liked my video Steve! I have many videos like this on my channel, unfortunately a very large number don't get the views they deserve because people don't take one minute of their time to share my channel on other websites, FB, or Twitter. Thanks for watching
He is very knowledgeable, but he has way too much time on his hands. This procedure is not for the faint of heart. Also, it's obvious he had no intention of ever putting it back together (hence the hammer and the comments about using the parts for something else). That's the hard part :). But like Don was indicating... now I now know it's time to spend another $100.
Awesome video! When you took it apart I couldn't believe how yellowed the tube were from the coffee. YUCK! I just picked this one up. And the problem with this one is, it doesn't brew a full cup. I ran several cycles of just water through it. And every brew smelled like coffee. One thing that I haven't tried yet was rescaling it.
Bravo good sir!videos like this are what youtube should be known for! well spoken,to the point and not a second wasted.the first solution worked for me but I watched the entire video anyway and learned alot.Thankyou for taking the time to create and share this video.for what it's worth, you helped me during a coffee crises and imparted some knowledge about electrical components aswell. Great teardown video: identifying and demonstrating all the major components and how to test each one. If any of those parts are bad, I suspect it's not easy or economical to get direct-fit replacement parts. Might as well junk it and buy a new one. Planned obsolescence? That aside, wow, look at all those hoses!! I never would have guessed these Keurigs had so many!
It a fairly complex unit. Most people are surprised when they see the inside. Well done. The half-cup issue on my older model was caused by dirty contacts on the cup selector switch. The lights weren't corresponding with where the knob was pointing. Turning the knob back and forth about 25 times cleaned the contacts and corrected the problem.

After watching this video I took apart my old Keurig that would not stop humming so loud it shook our cabinets. Everything looked great all the lines were perfect. The only thing I could see with a yellowish tint was on the water intake boot met the pump. I removed the pump after disassembling it I found loads of rust inside and out fell a three-tier plastic with metal hollow cylinder with one hole through the side of the center cylinder. Rust wrapped around this whole peice. Needless to say happy we bought a new one and I now have a whole bunches of really good Keurig parts.

Great video! I have a B60 which appears to be identical to the silver one in the video. I ultimately found that a guest apparently used it and attempted to run brewed coffee through it by placing coffee in the tank...I found it not drawing water from the tank and going to 'prime' error. Ultimately turned out that one or more tubes were clogged because of lots of coffee residue in the silicon tubing leading from the tank to the water pump, in the tubing leading to the top of the brewing tank. I had to disassemble, clean out several of the tubes, pump impeller and check valve after which it worked great. A couple of notes on this video. In my machine (B60) that screw far up in the housing did not need to be removed with a long screw driver....it holds the top panel but not the housing. But, I found an extra clip next to that screw which was holding the housing and did need the long screwdriver to unhook. Getting the three clips loose was by far the hardest part of the exercise....why Keurig puts them there is beyond me because the thing is solid without them. I ended up cutting off the part of the housing where those clips hook and leaving the clips for alignment only. The screws at the bottom hold the whole thing together nicely without those silly clips. If I ever need to take the thing apart again it will be a breeze. Thanks again for the video.
Outstanding. I ended up poking a sewing needing through the output pin in the k cup to clear. Unfortunately I looked online, AFTER I fixed issue. My machine is about 8 years old. Bound to have issues soon. This will help diagnose, and fix. Thank you.

Fixed mine thanks to your video. Pump, solenoid valve, and mini pump all tested fine. My problem was the holding tank was polluted with hard water chips....it was kinda gross really, and what a pita getting the cover off of that tank while still installed in the unit, but got it done and it's running like new now
Thank you! You're welcome. Be sure to look over my extensive video playlists below for other videos of interest to you, and most importantly share my channel with many others. th-cam.com/users/electronicsnmoreplaylists
not having a long enough Philips to completely dismantle the device, I found that the one way valve under the top cover was the culprit. The valve itself was stuck. I just removed it, forced air to open it up again, and it worked. I am now the office hero.

Great video! I just disassembled the exact same model yesterday. I don't know yet what I will do with the electronic components salvaged. I decided a while ago, I would not throw away electronic devices without taking them apart and salvaging parts for other projects. Watching your video helped identifying some components. Let us know if you have project ideas with the salvaged parts.
Best how-to video Ive ever seen. Wish I would have watched it before I Neandrathaled the outer cover off. I left a thumbs up and subscribed. Looking forward to watching your other videos with a nice cuppa java after my solenoid arrives.
Good video, I was working a unit identical to the first one used for disassembly. very detailed in the component testing. Oddly, removal of the hidden screw was not required. That screw holds the display mount to the silver top cover. Nothing to do with disassembly, unless you want to remove the display after disassembly. There is however a third clip next to the screw that actually prevented the removal of the guts. I replaced the “hidden” screw before reassembly and the unit went together without an issue
Absolute best video I've found for Keurig disassembly. At 6 minutes, looking at the bottom of the machine, you can see a part that has 3 screws in a triangle shape. I think that is where my problem is. What did you find under those screws? I found a lavender colored thingy. What is it? What's it supposed to do? THANKS!!!
Your video was perfect!!! I’ve fixed several other problems but never had this one. I did what you showed & now I have a full cup of coffee & it’s taking the water as it should. My Kuerig is about 4 years old I think. Thanks again!!
Thanks. I wondered what was inside that thing! It is a technical marvel. Obviously they are not making money on the sale of the machine! Mine started to get slow and making smaller cups of coffee. The "Descale" light came on so I followed some instructions to pour 10 OZ of white vinegar into the tank. Actually I had to put 20 OZ into it to satisfy the water level. All was fine, I was cycling several cups of vinegar through the machine, through a coffee filter to catch debris and back through the machine again. At some point it stopped pumping. I tried the usual tricks, paper clip to clean the piercing needle on the outlet from tank. Used a turkey baster to force water. No good. Finally I took apart the head of the unit and removed the outlet check valve and filled the heating tank from above. Voila, It now works. Something that had clogged, probably preventing the pump to prime, now clear. That black filter unit or a solenoid might be troublesome. I will have to keep using i to see if keeps going.
It sure is a marvel. Glad you liked the video and got it working! Thank yo so much for this video and saving my Keurig All the other videos I've watched only had you clearing the top needle. As soon as I took the little bottom cup off and cleaned the bottom needle, it worked like a charm.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. My machine has a hard time reloading water to the tank and machine often shuts itself off because it takes too long. Your video will help me isolate that problem as well.
It can also be the fine mesh filter in the removable water chamber is partially or fully clogged with hard water sediment. Removing the filter with a long Philips head screw driver is required. I suppose if you had a large enough amount of vinegar to set the reservoir in that could work also. Cleaning the keurig machine directly will not work. The filter needs to be immersed in strong vinegar or Keurig machine cleaner and rinsed out and then the soak repeated. This will solve the problem in most cases I disassembled my keurig to fix it. It was worse then this easy fix. I recommend anyone do this as a LAST RESORT ! LOL Great Video Series !
excellent video. Really thorough explanations. Now I know how the Keurig blows the last drops of water out at the end of the fill. My Select K80 is not giving a complete fill and the flow is very slow. The water pump is noisy, so I think I must replace it. Thank you for this great video.

I don't know if it is mentioned in the video, but the small rubber gromment that is around the shaft that pierces the top of the cup may come dislodged during disassembly. It must be around the shaft that pierces the top of the cup or there will be a mess. The gromment is shown at the 14:40 time of the video.
Hi, This is the best detailed video we have seen!! We have a Breville Keurig single brew BXC700 XL. The flow is very thin and slow. We have done everything from vinegar, paperclip, and moving the top and cleaning the hoses. We now think that the needle is different from the Keurig 2.0, so my question is, can we swap out the needle for a Keurig 2.0 unit?
I appreciate that Tommy! Glad you enjoyed the video. bob marker - distilled water is a no no on these. Those 3 metal probes at the end of the video are used to measure the water level electrically. If you use distilled water there is not way for current to flow and hence will screw up the maker. Mineral in the regular water is expected so these probes will work correctly.. just fyi
@@bobmarker6812 The water level low indicator doesn’t have anything to do with the conductivity of the water Bob. The low water level is sensed by black circular magnetic float disc and a sensor that you can see inside of the water tank. To conductivity of the water is important for the three levels of water dispersement small, medium and large. So if you saw any issues it would be in its ability to properly meter the brew size. You may not of seen that either I don’t know. But the 3 rods inside the fill tank are used to determine what amount of water to pump and they rely on the conductivity of the water to function properly.
Great to hear that! Be sure to rate thumbs up, subscribe, check out my extensive video playlists for other great videos of interest to you, and most importantly SHARE. Thank you
Excellent vid, very comprehensive. But the fault you found with solenoid at about 20:40 would seem to lead to a total BLOCK of water flow, not just slow. I was hoping to see fault(s) for slowed water flow (i.e. long time to fill coffee cup). You did mention check for blockage in the piercing needle in the k-kup holder and you also talked about buildup in tubes and such, but there seemed to be no other faults in the unit you disassembled.
Great tutorial. On 6:30 you mention to need to have a long philips screwdriver to remove the hidden screw. I found out you also need a long flat screw driver to unlock the latch that is next to this philips screw driver. That way the entire top is released without having to mess with the two other latches on the back that you mentioned are inaccessible.
It's been quite a while since there has been activity on this post. However, if you're still monitoring comments, I would certainly appreciate some advice. My Kuerig continually pumps water when it's powered on...basically till the reservoir runs empty. What could cause this issue? A bad solenoid? I have a Kuerig b70 platinum. And I've done all the initial cleaning, inspection, descaling steps. I loved the video btw...thanks for speaking clearly and being so meticulous.
I have an almost new one but it was in storage for awhile. Someone said there is reservoir inside. I just want to take it apart and drain it and clean the hose in vinegar. Can you do a instructional video on that for a keurig 860? I’m sure other components are working well. I just want clean hosing lines and reservoir. Love you video. I didn’t realize it had so many things inside.
Glad you enjoyed the video Jeff! Please share my channel with others and look over my extensive video playlists below for other videos of interest to you. Thank you th-cam.com/users/electronicsnmoreplaylists

This is one of the best disassembly videos I have seen.
Thanks Dave. Be sure to rate thumbs up, share my channel with others, and check out my video playlists. :-)
One of the best videos I've watched here. Very informative and just what I needed to test all the components on my Keurig B60. I agree with many others saying "to the point" and no BS.
Thank you, I'll be watching your other videos soon. You are also not boring to listen too, like many others that do this~
GREAT VID!!
IM A REPAIRMAN, AND I STILL LEARNED FROM YOUR VIDEO AND TESTING!
Great to hear!
Much like the previous comments, I agree that this was very informative! Thank you for the effort and whoever you work for is fortunate to have you.
Very helpful video. This seems to be the only place on the Internet to find service info regarding these units.

Hat's off!

You're welcome! Be sure to rate thumbs up, check out my "Useful Tips" video playlist, and share my YT channel with others. Thanks
get the needle cleaning tool that a lot of them came with or can buy it. you put water in it and it uses suction to pull coffee grounds out of needle. a lot easier then paperclip.

You're correct.
:-) Thanks for watching!

Thanks Steve!
I could listen to you all day so knowledgeable.

I've fixed several of these units and it has ALWAYS been the solenoid. I check them first. Keurig could fix this, but that wouldn't sell units. I order them on ebay for about $8 or so for a new one. Great job as usual!

Anyone who gave your video a thumbs down were obviously overwhelmed by the "Highly Detailed" (as noted in your description) professional and technical information. Thanks. I learned that this thing isn't worth all the effort to take it apart to fix it.
My boss told me to fix ours at the office cause it was malfunctioning, so i bought a new one with the jobs credit card.
Great video! Very concise and well presented. I was able to get the answers I was looking for. Thank you for a taking the time to create this video.

Great teardown video: identifying and demonstrating all the major components and how to test each one. If any of those parts are bad, I suspect it's not easy or economical to get direct-fit replacement parts. Might as well junk it and buy a new one. Planned obsolescence? After watching this video I took apart my old Keurig that would not stop humming so loud it shook our cabinets. Everything looked great all the lines were perfect. The only thing I could see with a yellowish tint was on the water intake boot met the pump. I removed the pump after disassembling it I found loads of rust inside and out fell a three-tier plastic with metal hollow cylinder with one hole through the side of the center cylinder. Rust wrapped around this whole peice. Needless to say happy we bought a new one and I now have a whole bunches of really good Keurig parts.
Rust is never a good thing.
He fixed my problem in the first 30 seconds of the video. The tube in the bottom of the basket was plugged.

Superb video. Very impressed by your narration and detail. Thank you. Happy to subscribe!
Bound to have issues soon.

not having a long enough Philips to completely dismantle the device, I found that the one way valve under the top cover was the culprit. The valve itself was stuck. I just removed it, forced air to open it up again, and it worked. I am now the office hero.

Thanks for watching Dave!

THANKS!!!
It's been so long that I couldn't tell you. It may be a float or check valve. Thank you for watching!

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. My machine has a hard time reloading water to the tank and machine often shuts itself off because it takes too long. Your video will help me isolate that problem as well.
Inspect all lines, valves, and the pump. Thanks fro watching!
It can also be the fine mesh filter in the
removable water chamber is partially or fully clogged with hard water
sediment. Removing the filter with a long Philips head screw driver is
required. I suppose if you had a large enough amount of vinegar to set
the reservoir in that could work also. Cleaning the keurig machine
directly will not work. The filter needs to be immersed in strong
vinegar or Keurig machine cleaner and rinsed out and then the soak
repeated. This will solve the problem in most cases
I disassembled my keurig to fix it.
It was worse then this easy fix.
I recommend anyone do this as a LAST RESORT ! LOL

I don't know if it is mentioned in the video, but the small rubber gromment that is around the shaft that pierces the top of the cup may come dislodged during disassembly. It must be around the shaft that pierces the top of the cup or there will be a mess. The gromment is shown at the 14:40 time of the video.
Hi,
This is the best detailed video we have seen!!
Glad you enjoyed my video! I'm not sure if you can, you'd need to look up the parts online and try to compare them. Thanks for watching!

bob marker - distilled water is a no no on these. Those 3 metal probes at the end of the video are used to measure the water level electrically. If you use distilled water there is not way for current to flow and hence will screw up the maker. Mineral in the regular water is expected so these probes will work correctly.. just fyi
@@condor5635 True, distilled water is a poor conductor but the few times I let it get low it still stops and flashes. I've had it 8 years.
@@condor5635 I've had no issues. They are interesting units.

Yes, that helps. Thanks for watching!
Check valve bottom of tank. Make sure it's clean. The entire system may need to be descaled.
