    I have the Endura range and Delica 1st generation for 30 years, I have worn these knives every day for years and the pocket clip has never faltered and remains solid.

    Spyderco repaired my Delica when the molded clip broke off. They did it for free AND sent me a new Delica with steel clip. I still have both from the early 90's. Lost my molded clip, 50/50 Endura. Lost my 50/50 Wegner. Gave a 50/50 Chinook away as a gift to the 3rd degree Black Belt who trained me for my 1st degree. Great video and Michael Janich knows his stuff ! I own a copy of his Street Steel book from 96'.

    A lot of persons think Spyderco cares only about style and cares nothing about substance, but that's the exact opposite of the truth. Every line, angle and feature of a Spyderco knife is there for a purpose, and this slavish devotion to functionality is what gives Spyderco knives their quirky, idiosyncratic look. Take the iconic Spydie hole as an example: it was put there so the knife could be opened one-handed back in the '80s when switchblades very illegal and very associated with illegality; the hole enabled the Spyderco knife to do what a switchbade could do but do it legally.

    Boy I saw so many of those early Endura's with broken clips in the Denver area back in the 90s that it put me off the brand for years. Not anymore though, love my Spyderco's.

      Not the brand, but two clips broke on me in 1992. I didn't have another Endura till 2015

    If I could land a position at Spyderco I’d relocate my entire family out to Colorado in a heartbeat! Seems like a great company to be a part of...

    I loved those integral clips. Didn't have to worry about scratching up furniture every time I rubbed against it. I wish they were still available.

    For all my spyderco knives the factory clip is replaced with an after market deep carry clip. Besides models with the deep carry wire clip or the magnitude because I can’t find an aftermarket clip for it. Giving people the option for a deep carry clip would be nice.

    Threaded inserts in G10 work great in my experience. All my Military's are tip up. I also love the wire clip above all others and have converted my Chokwe to wire clip with some machining in the Ti.

    Who decided that having annoying elevator music on a loop in the background was a good idea? Why is it not plausible that we can just listen to what is being said regarding the history of a subject we all find interesting ... I am confused.

    Hey Spyderco, why dont you make a decent pocket clip so we all dont have to go out and buy a Lynch clip after paying $300 for a knife?

    This is the best education I've seen! Every kid that carries tip up needs to hear the real world explanation of the tip down only Military! It offends logic and pains the brain to hear the regurgitation of tip up anti-logic! LOL 😆 (not a joke)

    • @newcoyote
      @newcoyote 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Given a choice, I far prefer tip up. As it happens, the Military is my longest-standing go to. I'll carry other models but always go back to a Millie eventually. It never even occurs to me to be bothered by tip down. I don't even think about it when I actually carry and use daily. I can't even guess how many times I've heard people say the same thing. "Dealbreaker!" or "I would if not for that". It just makes me think they're missing out or say that for no other reason so they can feel they sound like they know what they're talking about.

    I lost a few endura's back in early 90s they put the clip into plastic. Funny they say spyderco was the first but I remember my first clip knife was a Kershaw lasted way longer then spyderco they fell off didn't buy another spyderco till 2015 but I still feel they are overpriced not as bad as benchmade but up there

    I'd rather re position my hand on the military than stab my leg again cause it's the wrong direction in my right pants pocket. So please make it an option for safety.

    • @plpl27
      @plpl27 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      How/when would you stab your leg because of tip down carry?

    • @tacticalcenter8658
      @tacticalcenter8658 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@plpl27 it's happened to me and other people. It's cause it's tip down and the detent didn't hold the blade in for whatever reason. If it's tip up your pocket holds the blade in.

    • @xDEMONIZEDx

      @@tacticalcenter8658 You need help, bro. I have carried my Millie on hikes, dives, and mountain climbing expeditions and have literally never had it open in my pocket. In fact, sometimes I carry my knife forward in my pocket and put my flashlight against the seem. I have had tip-up knives open, but I have never had a tip-down knife open.

    • @tacticalcenter8658
      @tacticalcenter8658 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xDEMONIZEDx it's something that's happened to more people than just me. I don't need help. I try and carry it in my left pocket or back pocket now so it won't stab me again. But don't demonize me like I'm dumb cause it doesn't happen to you.

    • @nathanaelcole8466
      @nathanaelcole8466 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Convert it. All my Milis have threaded inserts embedded into the G10 and Casey Lynch deep carry clips installed. Tip down, big blade free to open into open pocket space is a no go for me too!

  • @acrocanthosaurus4
    @acrocanthosaurus4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is awesome! I feel bad, I feel like people miss out on how a knife truly works because it might seem too "tactical". Knives are tools always but they CAN be used as personal defense weapons and with that you get interesting techniques and knife mechanics that would make regular edc far more useful but oh no god forbid its tactical. Tip down has always been a faster deployment for me. I honestly have a theory that people hate tip down because its faster, thus being more tactical. I dont get it, so many people hate tip down.

    • @hunterevans7622
      @hunterevans7622 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The opposite is true for me. Tip down requires much more fumbling and time when I go to retrieve my knife from my pocket.

    • @acrocanthosaurus4
      @acrocanthosaurus4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hunterevans7622 four way position clip option for the win! Haha, I probably sounded bias. You bet id rather have a world where everyone is different. Heck maybe its just the knives I use and my hands arent huge.

    • @georgemorley1029
      @georgemorley1029 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tip down in a spyderco knife is counter-intuitive to me. With tip up and the spine of the blade directed into the corner of my pocket, my hand is wrapped around the back of the knife in my pocket as I draw the knife out and my thumb is right by the opening hole, so all I have to do is put my hand in my pocket, draw it out and open it with the same hand. With tip down, unless I have the spine of the blade sticking out into my pocket, the act of drawing the knife out places the opening hole on the wrong side of the knife, completely. And if I carry the knife in a way that puts the opening hole right next to my thumb as I draw the knife out, I have to put up with the spine of the knife blade digging into my leg and also into my hand, every time I put my hand into my pocket. Wrong for me.

    Keep it up with the reversable clip. Not a lot of companies bother, and it's annoying as hell to see a knife you want, and then see its right hand carry only.
