Being living in Kyoto for 16 years and do this ride (Kyoto-Osaka) at least once a week. There are plenty of little ‘secret’ paths that help you avoid many of those bike-gates. All the scratches and bangs on my Domane come from those bloody annoying things!
ive rode around here once before by the castle. was actually such a nice ride, but the time I went there weren't as many folks. But man it was a nice ride and I still have parts of the video from it for memories :) but here @ 15:53 I never rode, but seems like a very nice time. would love to ride there next time.
Hi Cruise nice video, at 5:40 Cruise.- "this is the subway line", but aren't subways underground :-)) I do have one question is anyone allowed to fish on the rivers ... here in Germany most of the time you have to belong to a fishing club to get a permit ... that only allows you to fish on the strech of river that belongs to the club... at some of the big lakes and reservoirs you can get a day permit, but you aways have to have a permit to fish
Nicd video (as usual). This path kind of reminds me of the river paths we have along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Not as much dense foliage as there but has some great views too. And they are slowly expanding the network and incorporating it in the East Coast Greenway.
Cyclists from Osaka will feel right at home where I live ;) 8:00 practical people over there. Just cut the streetlamp pole so that it will fit under the underpass.
21:15 Was a fishing competition in progress? Be careful not to pass too close, otherwise you could end up hooked to a hook (it happened to me at the outside rearview mirror, while I was passing the car on a bridge). Your videos are always beautiful. If I may, I would ask you for some videos for cleaning the bicycle chain and what kind of oil you use.
21:22 the huge bridge is about 500ft from where i live! I do a lot of cycling on the other side of the river. It sucks that there are so many road blocks but I got to find a piece looks just like the one you ran in the later part of the vid going for like 3.5 km and I just do circles all the time on it. Love seeing the place I live is what you think has a great bike path! And always love to see your videos!
A bit late but welcome to our neighbourhood! At 11:46 you ride pass our office near Sakuranomiya Station. Give me a shout if you are in town again. Gareth.
Someone was riding a bike while holding an umbrella over her head @ 3:35 :) What a beautiful day to ride!! What national holiday was that? I want to live by a bike path as well.
It would be nice to hear speculation as to why the barriers exist on the cycle path. Also, dont know if it would be considered rude, but since you mention the fishing bike set up, it would be cool to ask a guy if you can show their bike on youtube. Finally - name brand bike stores are pretty boring as everyone has already been to their local. Old / Custom and even Mom and Pop stores are more interesting. Very nice quality video - I always like to see a bright shiny day.
Besides slowing down cyclists at entrances to the occasional car park, a lot of the barriers are there to prevent scooters. mopeds and motorbikes getting on to the paths. Once you get to Hirakata (about halfway between Osaka and Kyoto) there are only 2 more such barriers before leaving the main path at Sewaritei (Sakura-ai Tower). From there, you have a choice of three different riverside paths to follow.
@@TheShotenZenjin Thanks. Just my opinion that it adds to the narration if you explain some things that you mention - in that they aren't obvious at all to those who haven't been to Japan. For instance, I found the few words you said about the "mom bikes" in another video to be very interesting.
As a Japanese, I also think numerous bicycle barriers exist because some bad guys may try to drive a motorcycle on the riverside. Motorcycles have larger tires, so you can't pass through them.
@@TwoWheelCruise lol funny I'll have to watch a the last vid a third time and try to spot the fake dog....played last vid also while indoor biking. Feel free to record a 45min vid...my usual time on the indoor set up👍lol
I think Osaka is the best Japanese city to live in for a foreigner speaking Japanese. It is smaller, less fast-paced than Tokyo and people are more open
It's one of Giant's "Pannier for Frameset" bags. Can get them in black or red on Taiwan websites. Watch "She Finds her Dream Bike at GIANT in Taipei | Bike Shops of Taiwan #01" on this channel, and go to the 4 minute 50s mark :)
Great video (as always). Priority Bicycles just announced a new bike today and I immediately thought of you. It's a single speed with a Gates carbon belt drive. I don't think they do international shipping yet though.
@@TwoWheelCruise I've wanted to get a bike after not having one for a while and ended up with two from them. Got a commuter/urban style bike and then they came out with a gravel bike so I ordered one early to get the better price since that's closer to what I wanted to begin with anyway. So far my only complaint is the saddle that came on the first one (ouch!). Both bikes are quiet and smooth and the Apollo is near silent. Hopefully you can get one at some point down the road.
Is bike theft common in large cities like Osaka and Tokyo? I heard that there have been bike thefts even in 有料駐輪場 which is manned. Bike thieves usually target road bikes and mountain bikes which are of higher value. I know that it is necessary to lock your bike but if is quite a hassle if I bring a 'heavy' and 'big' lock.
Hi Cruise are there any races coming up this 2021 there in japan?? Would you join if there are any?? (Edit) btw love your vids just want to see some more races 👍 ride safe
I love the fisher dudes rocking the step-thru mamacharis. I secretly love those kinds of bikes for their pure practicality but my friends always make fun of me because they're "girly" lol
Well you dont have to talk quietly as fish can't hear. They can see relatively good also above water so walking around near the edge of the river can scare fish away.

One of my dreams is to do a bike tour of Japan, such a lovely country and great people...
Nice day I have been there January
I really love the sound of the train's horn
Always love these vids :D
Thanks! 😁
at 14:24 that's a huge (dead?) rat just in front of your bike on the asphalt 😅
Great video again. Thanks!
OMG I didn't even see that 😂
i remember riding from osaka to kyoto there are so many bicycle blocking on the riverside of yodogawa
The number of barriers is ridiculous
I visited Osaka Castle in 2008. I was also impressed that they brought these big stones "by hand". It was nice to see that view again 👍
Sorry watched these videos continuosly, meant to comment previous Osaka Castle video I watched

Love a good river path 😁
I'm looking at those barriers, and then looking at my daily use commuter/bikepacking/touring bike that I just put 29x2.6 on...

Hi Cruise. at 14:54 there were some buildings on stilts on your left. Wonder what those were and how do you enter them.
Those are types of dams I believe

Yodo river path

They exist because of car parking lot intersections and they want to avoid accidents

So beautiful and clean. No homeless, no bums, no Antifa, no drug addicts, no trash. Amazing.
Yes, Japanese style socialism works . Lol
What's the bag on your top tube? looks like a mini-mini pannier
Check out our giant bike shop in Taiwan tour video
What notification GPS do you use or recommend? Tq
Strava on phone or wahoo are what I use

That aero folding bike contraption was epic. Made me laugh. No matter what kind of ridiculous bike build you can imagine, someone’s done it.
Lots of crazy bikes in Japan. Did you spot the fake dog on the back of a bike in the previous osaka castle video?
