      But George needed to show his maturity, instead he gave his engineer the silent treatment and complaining like a 7 year old. Where he should have got closer to Lewis and then asked to pass, not being 1 second away and say he playing the team game and he has more pace. He didn't prove it. Lewis did the smart thing by managing with car and giving it life with 18 laps to go and keeping 8th, George tried to push the car and had to retire cause it nearly blew up. Honestly if i was Merc, I'd try to get Sainz or Albon. They would understand their rolls as a second to Lewis and do what Russel doesn't and actually "learn" from him.

    looking at how both Alonso and Ocon managed the situation after their clash, it's just such a huge win for Alonso: he kept his professionalism up when Ocon looked like a spoiled brat and got a podium when everyone was wondering if Astons are going to even keep it in the points after the most exciting battle of 2023
    and i'm so glad with this outcome as well, either Ocon starts behaving like a proper man or i'm not gonna miss him when his contract is up

    I really do feel for Daniel. He was constantly lapping just 2-4 tenths slower than max but unfortunately was a lap down. I might be biased to say this since Ric is my favourite driver but he was right about the FIA rules post race and about his fifteen drivers a lap down point. Anyways what are your opinions on this?

    • @LawVS

    I see Gasly as more of a team leader than Ocon. Ocon has been at this team for what 5 years? He had 3 different teammates and has never been the lead driver. Him "beating' Alonso last year was pure luck due to reliability.
    This is Gaslys first season with alpine and he's made an Impression. I don't think this season can be put down to luck that Gasly is ahead. I'm pretty sure both have had incidents and reliability problems so they're on an even playing field.

    • @LawVS

    Yuki absolutely bounced back from last weekend and delivered a proper weekend for AT. I said a few weeks ago, I was worried if his slumps and mistakes continued, he was also under fire for his seat by Liam Lawson. But I think if he can close out this season with a few more points, he'd really make sure he at least had a home at AT for the foreseeable future. Points in both the sprint and the race in a car easily pegged as bottom 3 for most of the season takes a skilled hand and a fair amount of patience and diligence to pick your battles. Had a heart in the throat.moment where I thought he was going to bomb Hamilton in the sprint but he quickly held back, had confidence in himself and the car that he only needed one more lap, and got it done cleanly the next lap. AT is spoiled for drivers next season whether it's Danny or Liam in the other seat. And if Yuki has to find a new home, it's weekends like this he can point to as why he's worthy of another seat.

    • @LawVS
      @LawVS  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Fernando was my Villain for a long while. then the McLarenV2 days happened and i really started to appreciate his ability (because my blind patriotism had gone at that point) then, in his time off, i loved seeing him tear up everywhere else. then he returned and cemented it, he is one of the best pure drivers ever.

      Mercedes ditching George after he spent 3 years in Williams at their request would be one of the biggest cases of a team blatantly spitting in the eye of a driver.
      They promised him a seat in the best car as a number one after a year of learning from Lewis. Instead, they gave him a wildly inconsistent car and a teammate more focused on asserting dominance and whining than teaching or developing anything, a teammate who does not look to be going anywhere.
      Now he's stuck playing this stupid game of trying to fight to be heard and have good upgrades or strategy, because the team know they promised him something but can't give it right now.

    Oscar got hit by Magnussen's car, not the tyre. It damaged his wing, floor, and suspension. McLaren should have retired his car as it was still damaged in the race. Piastri has had the worst luck on the grid this year, i think almost all drivers have hit him. A key learning for him is that if you dont start front two rows on the grid you generally get damage from the average drivers like Magnussen, Ocon.

      Ah OK. What I meant was that if Lewis DNFs in Vegas or they both DNF, it's over. If Checo DNFs then Lewis is within 3 points if he wins (which he probably won't). I really truly hope Alpine start giving Gaslys his due. He could be such a good driver to really build your team around, especially from a PR side. Hes such a good, genuine, likable guy off track, and a solid preformer on track. They could easily make Gaslys aplines version of Alex and Williams or Lando and McLaren.

    I think the most damning difference between Gasly and Ocon is that Gasly knows what could be done and attempts to do it but Ocon goes for bigger vocal takes but less on track. We thought Ocon would, and he'd need to as he has seniority in the team, sweep Gasly, with the podium in Monaco which was a good drive, and Gasly down below we thought it's Ocons team. Gasly stayed quiet, got as much as he could, got a podium as well and continued on his consistent pace. Gasly knows whats the best possible and tries to do it, Ocon attempts to go beyond the best possible outcome and makes it worse

    • @LawVS

If the consistency fell off it would fall hard. Sainz dnfing or Australia P12 with the penalty, Hamilton with DNFs etc. I'd also like to note Stroll got P4, highest result of the season, in Australia but the result at Interlagos was well deserved and fought for

    I'm a bit ambivalent about Checo being "winner". On one hand he managed to have a clean race with Alonso but on the other hand, this is against car that finishes 34 seconds behind his team's car in a 71 lap race. I get this feeling that whenever Max was going through the field, drivers whom he were about to pass were usually reluctant to put up too much of a fight because it would be pointless for them to sacrifice their race (and tires) to delay the inevitable. Drivers like Max and Lewis have this aura of inevitability about them and Checo doesn't have this. If Max were in Checo's position, I bet it would take him at most 5 laps to pass through Alonso.

    To me a scary good combination at Williams would be George and Alex purely because one came from the Red Bull program and one would be coming straight from Mercedes so that would be 2 drivers from top teams. Both had their confidence battered that Williams could rise, straight up with looking at how good Alex has done I feel like that environment would end up fostering a lot of confidence for George and I could see those two being a really good team as well as that leading, the Williams challenging a lot higher up on the order due to the driver experience and the knowledge because right now it seems like they can only really go off of Alex at Williams because he is the experience driver and the progress that’s been made already for Williams is great so I can only imagine if they had both George and Alex, how potentially unstoppable they could potentially become with both of their knowledge.

    • @LawVS
      @LawVS  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      George seems to suit Williams more. He has the hungry wolf mentality and will extract every chance for a point which is what Williams needs and Alex is the calmer statesman who will pound out the surprising results. @@LawVS I think they would be a great team plus you would also have that fire between them of Mercedes and Red Bull having done them both in ways wrong so they would be gunning for those two teams to try and prove a point I think that extra fire and motivation would really push them over the edge and make them an unbelievable team. Plus you would also have the knowledge from one coming from Mercedes, and I think most of the Williams upgrades have been from Alex‘s knowledge from red bull time so it would be the ultimate pair up because you would have knowledge from rebel. Yes it would be years old but that’s OK and you have knowledge from Mercedes so you would have two of the top teams knowledge and ex drivers working together going after their old teammates I think they would just be an explosive combination plus promo would be on real on that because they could milk, the X Red Bull, x Mercedes driver story for drive to survive, which would make it incredibly marketable and it would give them both what they’re needing. George needs a solid supportive environment right now and Alex needs a confident teammate.

    I put Fernando Alonso 3rd, behind Jim Clark 1st and Ayrton Senna 2nd for all-time greats in F1... Alonso is unmatched in abilities in the 2000's, he's just his own worst enemy with mouth when he's in the media scrum.

      Despite his only winning 2 titles, his tenacity and skill into his 40s is legendary.

    They'll have to pull Russell out of that seat kicking and screaming. I don't see him swallowing his pride and going back to Williams

      I feel like he'll get fed up with the situation and go somewhere that would appreciate his input.

    The stats don't say it, but Fernando is one of the best of all time

      Indeed. We've got visual evidence and eyes to see that.

    Yeah, don Fernando is excellent. That said, in 2024, he should retie. The Ocon incident in Qualy is yet another evidence for that.

      I don't think so. Ocon was not fully at fault...but the way he behaved by not taking ANY responsibility afterward was appalling.

    LOL if aston just didn't upgrade their car they'd be 2nd in the championship xD

      It's all a part of learning how to be a top team. Sometimes upgrades don't work as well in the simulator. ALSO, this will happen less often with their new windtunnel and tools.
